I don't like this quote. I have met many people, and at first, due to misunderstandings, it looked like they would not get along with me. Yet fast forward into the future, and now I know them, they are very nice people and we get along. If you just believed what you saw first time, you may misunderstand ultimately nice people, or on the flip side, be deceived by ultimately malicious people. I don't agree with this quote, because you may think someone has "showed you who they were", but they haven't, and it was a misunderstanding.

That is not strictly true. The strategic nuclear weapons are vastly more powerful, but the tactical battlefield weapons, of which Russia has many, can be of very limited yield. Most likely scenarios are: 1 - Putin uses a tactical battlefield weapon in Ukraine to measure the wests response. 2 - Putin detonates a (more powerful) weapon over the sea (perhaps the north or Norwegian sea) to again measure the response. The odds of going directly to the full strategic nuclear weapons are vanishingly small. What the west does in either of the above scenarios will decide the future of this planet. Backdown and Putin wins, escalate and we all die, a proportionate detonation (perhaps in the barents sea) to prove that the west is also willing to detonate nuclear weapons if provoked might be the proportionate response.

If they did not use Nuclear War in the Cold War there is no way they will use it here. The Cold War was full brown nuclear rivalry. People might say that the suspicion that the NATO or the West would attack Putin but Now, Putin is just scared because he has seen so much invasion, Libya; Afghanistan, and Iraq to so say a few which destabilized the then governments. No wonder he is in high alert. But we should never justify nuclear weapons, the issue about nuclear weapons is that he kills more than you can ever imagine. Quite the opposite. Nuclear weapons are the only reason we didn't had ww3 yet. They are only for deterrance. MAD or the so called mutual assured destruction is and agreement and the world leaders understand that. So does Putin. And you also need to understand, that there are about 15 thousands of nuclear warheads in the world which is not enough to wipe out humanity as such. In addition not all of them are operational and only a very small amount of them are the size of the tsar bomba. The majority are small tactical warheads. Sure, in case of full scale nuclear war millions if not billions will loose their lives, but also billions will survive and live on. Nuclear winter is also only a theory since we never had one and it is very complicated to predict. All I am saying is that don't loose your sleep over nuclear war. It takes much more than that to destroy planet earth and all humanity.

You’ll know the world is coming to an end when the following happens. You notice way more air traffic then normal. The military in major city airports will be rushing to get assets off the ground be they fighter, tanker or transport. Next is you’ll be seeing larger then normal civilian aircraft landing wherever is closest. EMP tends to damage aircraft electronics and a pulse would turn them into falling hulks, better to fly down then fall down. Time of an attack is another factor. Do you want to inflict maximum damage to infrastructure while minimizing casualties say by attacking after evening rush hour. Or are you looking to inflict maximum casualties by attacking major cities say at 9am? Once launched a missile has a 30 minute flight so if you see US missiles in flight assume you’ve got 20 minutes cause the other guy launched 5 minutes before you. A us counter strike will likely use all land based missiles cause they’re already targeted. Once one hits your survival odds diminish greatly depending on how close you are to the blast

Given that the first round of peace talks failed, and that there's supposed to be new talks in 5 days, I say Ukraine, has 5 days, before a nuke is dropped on the capital of Ukraine, and I think he'd stick to Ukraine to avoid direct confrontation with NATO. It's continually said that Putin's warning of using nuclear weapons is evidence of fear. I doubt it, as Putin is not the fearful type. @@miyahtallulah Maybe, maybe not. Russian military doctrine includes the concept of tactical nukes (artillery, mines, short range missiles, torpedos etc.) as part of an escalate-to-de-escalate scenario. NATO war planners are well aware of this, and may very well decide NOT to respond to a singular use of tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield. Instead, NATO will probably attempt to capitalise politically/diplomatically on Russia's use of nukes. After all... even China and India don't want Russia to be using nukes, and will probably apply pressure to Russia.
