    Funny how Aly took heat when Jordyn failed to make AA when her score was higher than Gabby's.

    tanya julian It was only higher due to Gabby's mistake on floor......She had the higher score going into floor....And would have been the top qualifyer.

    Point taken. But it wasn't the point I was trying to make. Media only focused on the negative (Jordyn not making AA finals instead of the positive, Aly qualifying in top spot) Gabby likely would have won the AA regardless of who made it. Aly rarely beat JW or GD and even though it was just quals and got top spot due to a mistake on Gabby's part she still deserved to have something positive said about making the finals in top spot. All the focus was on Jordyn's misery. Even Gabby was overshadowed at the time.

    @@tanyajulian3772 Plus if Jordyn bumps Gabby out of the AA finals, US loses the gold medal for sure. Jordyn would give up a whole point to Komova on bars, and would never be able to make that up even with her best routines, even with Komova's big error on vault that opened the door for Gabby to win, it still would not have been enough for Jordyn. So the US are upset they didn't give away a gold medal to Russia, which is what happens if Jordyn bumps Gabby out.

    Her BB routine killed her. She fell prey to the "domestic judges overscoring and giving connections they shouldn't get" situation. Her QF BB had a super low D-score cause she didn't get credit for connections she was getting credited at home and it killed her chances. Very smart to go with Ross for beam in the TF.

  • @williambingham3408

    The question was never about if Ross would do beam, that's why she was there, to do beam and bars, and to fill in if any of the others was injured, that's why Kyla did floor in the qualifying round when Mahorney broke her toe, the question was if Gabby or Jordyn would do beam, they went with Gabby because she did well in the qualifying and Jordyn had a stress fracture.

    Yup. That routine composition was, at best, super risky. I don't understand why they didn't just switch to a BHS-layout full instead of the other way around. She had no trouble making the skill but that connection was always going to be risky at best.

    Lets be honest here, all of them were good enough for AA, Jordyn was hurt, all 3 were being molested, Jordyn was off that night, Aly exceeded expectations that night, and if Gabby had not bounced out on floor, you could add 1.5 to her score and it wouldn't have been close, Knowing what we know now I'm amazed how strong they all were, But that night Jordyn would still have finished 3rd if you added all their best scores. Without Nasser and without Injuries, I think it would have been Gabby and Jordyn finishing 1-2, Not to change the subject, But find it odd that Jordyn's coach left the floor angry when she didn't make all around leaving Jordyn sobbing on the arena floor, It was Kyla Ross' coach Jenny Cheng who came to her and comforted her.

He was also charged with sexual assault, human trafficking and forced labour, and racketeering.” - A direct quote I found off flo gymnastics which may I mention I don’t particularly like either. Weiber didn't stand a chance to win. She could have taken bronze but her bars were nowhere near competitive enough to contend and frankly neither was her beam. She barely beat an injured Komova by 0.033 in 2011 (and shouldn't have if im being honest). How do you think it's even possible for her to beat a Komova who had 0.7 tenths of upgrades on vault alone?

  • @jamesvelasco6491

    @jamesvelasco6491

    I don't know why everyone seems to think she wouldnt have done well in the all around. We all saw that Komovas three step vault was harmful to her AA score. Gabby also landed over to the side in her AA vault(Which was a mistake that kept Jo from the AA) . Had Jordyn been competing she certainly could have made up for Komovas little mistakes, we saw it in 2011! Even though we can argue about it forever, I do think that Jordyn was the better choice for the AA. The battle would have been much more intense.

  • @shushunovafan4301

    Komova and douglas had way more difficulty than hers. Komova stepped off the mat on vault and lost about 5 tenths and it still doesn't matter since her bars and beam scores were round about 15.5-16.0. What was Weibers highest bars score? I'd be surprised if she broke the 14.5's.

    That was Geddert's fault, plain and simple. Building a D-score through those kinds of connections is risky to the point of being unintelligent. The tucked full and BHS were not connected. Even the tiniest landing error on the full would make the connection impossible, and small landing errors happen all the time to even the best gymnasts on such difficult skills.
