MJF is the weirdest babyface/heel/tweener I've ever seen. Like, he shows heart of a champion by kicking out these savage moves but then becomes the devil by cheating any chance he gets. I haven't seen that kind of dynamic in a character since Eddie G. Its really cool how AEW appraches the heel/babyface concept. It doesnt get talked about a lot.

@@csolivais1979 no, not official. I was simply making an assumption... just like everyone else in the comments. And my assumption was based on how he reacted when he landed; how little/much he was limping afterwards; how he was able to quickly move, to assist Max in hiding the evidence (ie: continue the storyline); and my many multiple ankle, knee and hip sports injuries over the past 60 years. As for Cole going to the hospital, I hadn't heard that. So I wouldn't know.

All the critics (bischoff et al) should give credit to aew. Look and listen to the crowd. Look at the direction and story of this match. This felt like proper big time with everything mattering. Mjf vs joe is gold and everything here made perfect sense. Hence the crowd were super invested. The rest of the booking and card need to up their game in terms of story intelligence and AEW needs to get behind future stars like hobbs more. MJF is now somewhere between flair and guerrero in terms of character and some of his actions.

Match was great, but the unnecessary parts were 1. kicking out to a low blow and muscle buster. and 2. Not raising Joe’s hand to count to 3 while they raised MJF’s. Either do it to both or don’t.
Hell of a match between them. It's crazy that MJF and Cole are so popular, but so heelish. Joe reminded a lot of people how great he can be, but he should have been disqualified for that table spot. I hope that Cole is not hurt too badly after jumping off the ramp.

So, ive always hated the ref checking the arm 3 times to see ive someone is unconscious. If youre out youre out so ive always thought it abit daft in wrestling that someone would just wake up from being asleep in a choke hold but whatever its wrestling. But for the ref to do it while MJF is in a choke hold and then wake up but not do it to Joe, took me out of what was otherwise an excellent match.

The way an actual fight competition works is they're supposed to do verbal first. If there's verbal confirmation they're conscious, the second step is checking bodily function to confirm it's not reactionary. Realistically, the arm should be lifted once and if it falls (indicating there's no resistance), the match should end. When there's no verbal communication, and the competitor's limbs are free to resist but there's no visible resistance, that's usually a sign to end the fight. Wrestling often goes with 3 drops, but considering the safety of the athletes, in real sport, one would end the fight.
@tmage23

It's such an old trope that you really can't stop doing it. It adds a lot of drama to a big match and the pop that the babyface gets when he keeps him arm up is always good (and some folks like Hogan really know how to milk that pop)
The stillness of MJFs selling really reminds me of Daniel Bryan (ATT) against Brock Lesnar at survivor series.
Cole hurting his ankle cause of the stupid ramp 🤣
7:21 Adam Cole jumping off the ramp and hurting himself made me laugh for the rest of the match 😂😂😂
Why was MJF's hand raised slowly 3 times to see if he's still conscious but in the end Joe's hand wasn't raised, the referee just looked at him and said it's over? Answer: AEW has no logic nor rules.
(In Kayfabe) why did the ref hold up the arm of MJF's arm 3 times during a choke but then for Samoa Joe, instantly ring the bell???

I don't mind the babyface kicking out of the heel's finisher. It shows grit and determination. I do agree that it's a bit overdone. I think they should institute a one finisher kickout rule. You can have as many rope breaks and pin reversal as you want but only one actual kickout.
