Could 6G succeed where the much-touted 5G fell short?

Ғылым және технология

At a conference in Beijing, British Professor Jiangzhou Wang expresses his disappointment with the shortcomings of 5G. He notes that it has not produced a groundbreaking application, but he believes the upcoming generation could bring a change. In this video, we will delve into how 6G is going to change the mobile industry and the applications that can be deployed. So don’t go away and keep watching!
While 5G communication technology has been touted extensively, it hasn’t lived up to its revolutionary expectations, a British expert shared at a prominent tech conference in China. Jiangzhou Wang, a professor from the University of Kent’s engineering school, expressed at a Beijing tech conference that 5G has yet to produce a game-changing application. “5G has been a letdown from an objective standpoint,” quoted Yicai, a financial news site based in Shanghai, from Wang’s speech at the Sohu Annual Sci-Tech Conference. He noted that the 5G era hasn’t brought about a groundbreaking application for the average consumer, nor has it found extensive application in specialized industries. However, he believes that the future 6G technology could be transformative rather than just an incremental improvement. The transition from 2G to 3G in mobile telecommunications allowed users to send images and music in addition to text messages, leading to the growth of mobile versions of chat apps like QQ, games, and streaming media. The advent of the 4G era paved the way for the success of mobile payments and apps like WeChat and Douyin. However, the defining application of the 5G era is still elusive. Wang pointed out that one of the main reasons is that the technical standards of 5G still don’t meet the needs of specialized industry applications. He added that the under-development 6G is expected to revolutionize the areas that 5G couldn’t fully cater to in specialized industries. He mentioned that despite the low latency of 5G - the delay in data transmission - it still doesn’t meet the requirements of certain industry applications.
As research and development in 6G continue, it's likely that new applications and industries will emerge, further expanding the technology's impact on society and the economy. We will continue to keep 6G under our radar and report back as we learn more. That’s all for now, and thank you for tuning in.

China is accelerating the development of 6G to anticipate the economic growth that it will bring to the nation as well as to dominate the future of technology. This ambition is clearly shown when Huawei announced the launch of 5.5G ahead of schedule. Can China succeed to launch 6G by 2030? What can 6G bring to the world as a whole? How can 6G improve our work and lifestyle? Please leave your comment below. Thank you for sharing!

China is a conservative country and that 6G should be launched sooner than 2030. Can wait to see what 6G can do in real life.

Smart watches will probably outsell mobile phones as they can do the a lot more in a convenient size without worrying about losing your phones during shopping.

6G will change the design of mobile phone as the NO latency and network speed that we no longer need storage space on our phone instead all information will be stored via cloud. This is probably the most noticeable change with our future phones.

The 6G phones would be a lot simpler, lighter, and cheaper as there will be no local storage and all apps processed are done via cloud. Amazing tech!
