Cotto was not only undefeated he was top 2 pound for pound. He just beat a game Mosley that even Mayweather went the lame route to age out. Cotto to me was that Margarito won away from being the A side in boxing.

A lot of people say that, like he didn't get tons of punishment by Pacquiao as well. Margaritto more or less ended his career because of orbital bone problems himself, and both boxers got beat down by Pacquiao. Otherwise, the few losses Cotto has are against other hall of fame boxers outside of Margaritto. I think he was very much the same after his first loss, aside from going into his 30s.

Cotto is one hell of a fighter!

Has to be one of the most satisfying victories in the history of the sport. Gotta LOVE Steve Smoger. Absolute legend. He called the fight and then he kissed Margarito. One of the greatest referees we have ever seen!

@umarrazvi the ref saw it happening. Maybe he couldn't hurt him the same but margarito definitely would've made the remaining rounds the longest of cottos life. And maybe an exhausted cotto gets caught. Either way, cotto got his revenge. I don't think it waS the way cotto wanted to win. You can see it In his face at the post fight.

The sweetest revenge ever in boxing! Cotto beat Margarito’s ass in this rematch, a beating Margarito definitely deserved after the first fight when he was caught with plasters of Paris in his hand wraps, or using illegal hand wraps, before fighting Shane Mosley. Then, later on, Cotto believed Margarito used those illegal wraps against Cotto in their first fight after he was busted by Mosley’s trainer. Cotto deserved this win entirely in this rematch. Well done Miguel, you’ve earned it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Maybe because Pacquiao started his pro career at 106 pounds and was on his 8th weight class to fight Margarito at 154 pounds? That could be a reason. Idk

I don't know about "Stop Cotto." Margarito always had an iron chin and legendary stamina, it was moreso Cotto's gas tank starting to deplete. But if you compare to the first fight, Cotto had taken significantly more damage at that point of the fight (Round 9-10) so we may have seen a late rally from Margarito but I'm pretty positive Cotto cruises to a decision or stops him due to further damaging the eye. @@rustywatson2

Panama Lewis didn't use illegal Hand wraps in the Arguello vs Pryor fight...he did however give him water which he said was the one he mixed in between rounds which Pryor used and it seemed to give him more energy and stamina.....Panama Lewis did use plaster of Paris when a club fighter named Louis Resto used it and had his gloves unpadded in a fight with a guy named Conn on the Roberto Duran vs Davey Moore undercard in MSG...Resto was caught and so was Panama Lewis for being straight up ASSHOLES..

this was the rematch.

When the fight was stopped, two of the judges had only awarded one round out of ten, to Margarito. The other one awarded him two rounds out of ten.

Margarito is one of those boxers who can beat people up who are static or on the ropes but does not have the guile or wit to beat someone who moves.

This was the first and only fight I watched in a cinema complex as a live PPV, it was a brand new system for PPV events not in your home but at the cinemas. I went to Caribbean Cinemas at Barceloneta and they made available four auditoriums, and still I made the waiting line for two hours long. The crowd's noise could be heard through the walls from the other auditoriums 😂.

Margarito was never hurt and kept coming forward. His punches did little or no damage to Cotto, very different from their first fight. Margarito gets an A+ for aggression and for throwing punches but he did not look like a big puncher at all in this fight. He got hit a bunch of times too.

Does anyone else think that in the post fight interview, knowing that he has ended Margarito s career most likely, Miguel Cotto looks like he's sick to his stomach? I think he regretted that instantly. No denying he targeted that eye. I think he felt bad about it instantly. Look at his eyes. I know what he says but look. Bet he realized he didn't want to win that way. That says something about the guy's character. Good man.
