Cotswold Village Walk Blockley

Ойын-сауық

A walk around Blockley in the Cotswolds. Not a Railway Walk, although a station was named after the village but is situated around a mile and a half away, and we include a visit at the end. The walks ‘With Children’ are ideal for my Parkinsons issues because they are limited to around three miles, which I can still manage.
Blockley is a beautiful Cotswold village, built of the local honey coloured stone and one famous for its silk mills. In fact at one time more than 600 people were directly involved the the production, and manufacture of silk in Blockley. The population at the time was higher than it is now, which is a bit rare these days. The walk covers the village, its mill streams as well as some of the old mills, a wander into the forest on the village edge, across stunning upper Cotswold fields where the views have changed little in hundreds of years. A quick look at the church and also the longest vehicle ford in the Cotswolds is included. If you are looking for something to do, then this walk covers a lot of the beautiful village of Blockley and its immediate surroundings yet can easily be accomplished in an afternoon or a morning. Leaving time to visit to Chipping Camden or Morton on Marsh, both nearby. There are several pubs where food is provided. A most charming walk.

Just dropping in to say this was where I grew up as a child, and to see it now is bringing back so many memories! Riding bikes incredibly carelessly down and through the brook, into all the water and down the hill from the woods into the high street, and doing school assemblies and plays in St George's hall. It's so nice to see it's all still there, and it looks so peaceful! The swans at around four minutes have given me flashbacks to living there, and 100% I have probably run away from them at some point. Definitely worth a visit, because though it's boring for a child, as an adult I definitely appreciate its beauty more. Thanks for filming this, and for editing it so nicely into a nice calming walk! I definitely agree though - Blockley does not have any levels, and it's all uphill and downhill from wherever you are! Edit: that's definitely new in the woods! I remember going up and down the valleys in wellies with the school and finding the wild natural springs and so on. It's kind of a shame to see it all felled, but that's life

Hi there my name is Andy T , I live in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. I originally came from London. Tonight I saw a program about your village Penelope Keith was hosting it. The program made me homesick for England. I then went on the internet and saw your brilliant film of you walking round the village and that made my mind up, I'm coming home and will try to find a house in or around the village. Thank you.
