Excellent information on vehicle shipping. As noted, the shipping fees are only part of the costs, then it is import duty, vehicle inspection, retitle the vehicle, and vehicle plates. The import duties are usually cost prohibitive in CR and far exceed the residual value of the vehicle. I'm in Panama and I imported a motorcycle (along with household goods in a 20 foot container), the duty was 10% based on their valuation book. Also, as noted, maintenance support is critical. US vehicles are different and waiting for parts from the US will be expensive, and guess what, they get an import tax as well. Buy in your country, and get what is popular and you will be better off.

No you can't have it yesterday.LOL.2 days of shopping and 2 weeks later found 4 gate hinges.Quando, no say.A wheel barrow tire was 4 trips.Did not buy the first one, found a tube went back for the tire, it was sold.Of course we found one. Avoid the headaches! just get a use old Toyota in CR, you will find mechanics for it all over the country, save $ on gas, and it's a vehicle that last forever. If you live in Narnia, you can get a 4x4 Toyota or get a Yaris, there's millions of Yaris in CR and they never seen a mechanic. If you want to go green then a chínese EV like BYOD is a great option, especially with the zero tax for EVs coming up in CR.
I shipped a car from Florida to Limon, in 2002. Ricardo Brown was the head of the Aduana. I shipped out of Port Manatee, Florida, and paid $450, that included the Fl inspection, which was $100. It was a nightmare in Limon, because you are at the mercy of the customs director {Ricardo Brown}, if he is still there is an out an out thief. The prices that this Pablo charges are completely insane. Do research, before you make a major mistake paying his prices.

I wanted to ship my Motorcycle and was turned off by the taxes. If I read the site correctly, it would be 70% of what the bike is worth and as you mentioned they’re not using Kelly Blue Book. So I could be paying the cost of a second bike. 🤦🏽♂️

Nothing that Ebay and amazon can handle but the biggest turn off is that American vehicles aren't good for CR. Just buy a Toyota 4x4, 4 cylinder and you'll be fine.

Sell your car, and buy a Nissan or Toyota down here. Driving through Mexico, and Central America is super dangerous. Don't even think about trying it.
