While the country has only about 0.03% of the world's landmass, it contains 5% of the world's biodiversity. 25% of Costa Rica is protected - in national parks and wildlife reserves, which amounts to the largest percentage of protected land in the world. Over the relatively short period of 32 years, Costa Rica has successfully managed to reduce deforestation from some of the world’s highest rates in the world to almost zero by 2005

The green fine snake looks like he's doing duck lips, when you look at it straight forward, lol! So cute!
The national bird is the yigüirro and we shop crops mostly in farmers markets not supermarkets. By the way I think this was filmed in the 90s or 2000s, right?

At 5:07 that is a giant parrot snake, not a green vine snake. The green vine snake is mostly found in the dry forests on the west coast of Costa Rica. Great video!

The quetzal is Guatemala's national bird not Costa Rica's. Costa Rica's national bird is the giguirro (clay-colored thrush)

The nation of Costa Rica will forever hold a place in my heart as one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever been to. However, i cannot understand the Xenophobia Ticos have of their neighbors to the south Nicaragua. I even heard some Ticos go as far as to compare them to Palestinians.

It's because Daniel Ortega (dictator of Nicaragua) treats the country like garbage so they come here ilegally and they bring more crime to the country, take the money of the country, etc. I don't hate the people of Nicaragua but they bring a lot of problems to the country.
