@@jayp9059 but that doesn't prove that poletitions were born Rich and always had lavish lifestyles. Infact many pollies grew up on farms, some others grew up in slums, others came from broken homes and were put into foster care. just because they get a huge pay as poletitions doesn't mean they always had that.

And yet the only politicians with some direct experience/understanding of this are in Labour. Not the Tory party. Because the Conservatives exist to conserve the interests of the wealthy, and Labour exist to advance the interests of the poor, the marginalised, and the mass of the population. And this situation will persist until enough people wake up, realise that, and stop voting for the Tories.

The same thing is happening here in the US. The price of EVERYTHING from food, gas, rent, houses, healthcare is sky high & people are really suffering. Wages have never kept up with rising costs & it’s even worse now. I’m in New England & sleepy little towns with nothing going for them have seen home values increase 50% or more since 2020! Some big cities have seen home values double! New England has brutal winters & my energy bill now is 3x what it was last year. It’s scary to think what the future holds for the everyday man & woman!

If you’re a prospective first-time homebuyer hoping (or praying) home prices will decline in 2022, don’t count on it. If people are waiting for a price to decline, well, it’s not going to happen. Heading into the spring of 2022, mortgage rates have increased over a full percentage point and while purchase demand has cooled, it remains firm. Supply remains near record lows, so home price growth is expected to remain high through the spring homebuying season before cooling off later this year as mortgage rates continue to rise. Investing in REITs will be a right decision as it's also included in a growing number of defined-benefit and defined-contribution investment plans

  • @theodorerossi7998

Greatly said! lnvesting in REITs can play an important part in an lnvestment portfolio because they can offer a strong, stable annual dividend and the potential for long-term capital appreciation. REIT total return performance for the last 20 years has outperformed the S&P 500 Index, other indices, and the rate of inflation

@@svenoliver6040 Of course, you don't have to buy physical property to invest in real estate. Real Estate lnvestment Trusts (REITs) trade like stocks on an exchange, and they can provide diversification without the need to own and manage any property. In general, REIT returns are more volatile than physical property (they trade on an exchange, after all). In the U.S, the annual return of REITs is 12.99%, as measured by the MSCI U.S REIT Index

The problem is housing all the high rise luxury apartment buildings that push people out of their neighborhoods while using taxpayers money to do it. Phoenix doesn't get that cold but I still put on my heat. My home is heated using electricity and not gas heating. On the flipside, I pay a large electric bill during the summer months for my cooling costs. This report is an eye opener for me.

Why doesn't the minimum number of the bracket ever get adjusted upwards too? Ex. If everybody’s wage will be in the first-third tax bracket it wasn't like that back, then to have a living wage. Why do we have to go through that many brackets now?

Beyond that point, more money does not change people's happiness. But it does likely make them spend more, buy more and more stuff that their lives don't depend on, perhaps making them feel like they have lots of stuff but little money, indeed.

Not being flippant here because we do it, but it's time to start reusing tea leaves and foregoing milk. I can get four cups of tea from a few teaspoons of green tea. I put ginger in it, from my garden. Breakfast is one scrambled egg from the hens and fried potato and a bit of onion, from the garden. Lunch is a free soup made with scraps that might be tossed by some--we save the scraps in the freezer. Dinner could be a lovely Thai inspired coconut curry made with peanut butter, chickpeas, vegetables, and secret spices served over Basmati rice (6 servings for less than 33 cents USD per serving), with cole slaw in Asian dressing on the side. Dessert would be homemade brownies or chocolate chip cookies. Other nights we might stretch a can of salmon in a salmon loaf and use the broth in a salmon soup. Or I'll make a large batch of salmon patties from two cans (reserving the broth for soup) and freezing the patties for quick meals. The salmon patties are good with a maple-blueberry reduction sauce or in a home baked bun with spinach, onion, and tomato from the garden. I like to slightly dehydrate and freeze chopped red tomatoes from the garden to put a diced tomato relish on the bun in the winter. There are so many ways to stretch the food budget. Some just need a little extra prep. Don't pay corporations to prep your food!

Eating enough helps your body stay warm too. So, try to compromise to the extent that you still can. It's a bloody Catch-22 but try to avoid starving yourself. (I know what I am talking about. I have just totally stuffed myself. Yesterday evening. Two bowls of porridge and a big ton of pasta with tomato puree. Because I could and had not been able to do that for a while and then I had a shower because I had not had warm water in a few months and my muscles felt all knotted up and I had not had a shower the day before I had not had one in the morning either. When I survive on little for a while, and then have a little money, I sometimes find myself doing these things. Like eating 6 or 8 rolls - bought on discount of course - or several plates of spaghetti - always the 20p kind of course and nothing added to the pasta of course, no veggies or meat or fish - and I can't rule out that this is something purely biological.) What I have done is put a mylar thermal blanket under my bedsheet - but be careful with that as it can cause condensation which could lead to mould growth - and I wear fluffy socks in bed. If my ankles are exposed - not covered by fabric - I wear so-called "leg warmers" too. And I often have a fleece blanket - a Christmas one that I bought at Asda right after Christmas - or a scarf around my neck and shoulders. All these little bits help me stay warm. Sometimes, when it is really really really cold, even indoors, I wear a hat, lol.

@Chris Viking I've worked there. They all look depressed. It always makes me laugh when I read that Denmark is one the happiest countries, they all look miserable. The Danes are only second to Iceland for taking anti depressants and Danes have the highest level of private debt. They work the shortest hours so production is sluggish.

@@Tom-tp1jv I strongly doubt inflation has only risen by 48% since 2007. Prices for most basic commodities has gone up by much more. I could survive on £10 food costs per week back in 2014. Now I'd say that is around £20+ for a similar shop. That would put my food shop at an annual rate of 10% inflation. A £9 minimum wage would be the equivalent of 3.3% inflation per year. Most comparisons of stuff you buy in supermarkets indicate inflation running into the 100's over 10 year periods.

Have also noticed food prices increasing so finances under pressure from all directions. Not looking forward to the tax increases.
