Hey, first of all: THANKS for the update! 🙂 I've got to questions if I may: (1) Why is the difference between "a couple" and your extended family of 8 so little? You spend around 1450 € including a car and schooling for 5 kids and a couple without kids nor a car should also need to spend over 1000 €? (2) What about your visa experiences? A male foreigner doesn't get permanent residency even if he marries a local female, just the other way round. In order to work, you need a work permit and you are going to be taxed in Madagascar. And I read that the ony way for a (male) foreigner to attain permanent residency in M. is to found a company. Cheers!

1, Malagasy are a lot cheaper to pay for than a foreigner or a foreign wife and Malagasy kids are extremely cheap to care for as they really don't need or want a lot of experience things like phones, food, travel or transportation I find. 2. A female foreigner gets no advantage over a Male as far as I know, when it comes to residence you can ever apply for it for the following reasons 1. Retirement 2. As you have a new job to start or 3. Investment 4. Residency through marriage but it's not automatically excepted

@@passivenomads Okay thanks... I read the regulations in their original form, this is where my information partly comes from. But even there, some things are not 100 % clear because of mistakes in the French formulations. ^^ For example, it says you need a Malagasy bank account which you cannot get as a foreigner, and you cannot transform your tourist visa into a permanent one while being there, so no idea how this should work in a, say, standard way.

Wow!!! Never knew it was so affordable to live there. How much you think someone would spend on a 2 week vacation? Do you think 2 weeks is good? Do you have any hotel or air bnb recommendations? When is the best time to visit?

I can help you to find the best accommodation for your needs, I think May to the end of November is the best time. Hotels are €30 with pool food is €10 a day, fun and drinks should cost €15 to €20 a day so €50 to €60 a day + flight ✈️ I would fly into nosy be if possible as the road trip is long from the capital to nosy be 2 weeks is nice but the longer the better imo as it makes the flight cost spread our a bit more if you stay longer

I agree when it comes to Nosy Be, and 4 weeks are better than 2 - on the other hand, Nosy Be while being nice in itself is quite isolated from the rest (road from/to Tana...) whereas its east coast "competitor", Sainte-Marie, allows for more impressions on the mainland, especially the second city of the country, Tamatave/Toamasina, both having got an airport. Furthermore, you can take a trip to La Réunion = France from Tamatave airport.

Did you mention cost of WiFi in the list? Missed that part if you did. Telma, orange or airtel which is best provider? Mobile telephony is it expensive? Registration of sim cards for a foreigner?

  • @globoliver9697

@@rydergoode6922 Telma seems to have the best offers for mobile internet (I think that's what you mean by "WiFi"), they've got a pretty good website. In general, mobile internet is expensive though, 100 GB is about 40 € a month, even more than in Germany which is generally considered the most expensive country on the planet in that regard. In order to find the "best" provider for you, you should check coverage maps for your intended living area because there are big differences between the providers concerning their presence in different places.
