Hello, my family and I are considering moving to northern Virginia in the next few weeks and decided to rent until we get there than decide if we are ready to buy a home. My mother is almost 81 in a few weeks and we are looking for something accessible as well as affordable but still of great value. Wise suggestions would be great.

Unless you're moving there from some rural location, don't do it. It's a horrible place. Go to Phily or NY if you must be on the east coast.

Cons- #1 the people are awful #2 if you're coming from any real city, you're gonna be bored to death #3 you have to drive everywhere, and the traffic lights change at a glacial pace

Agree 100% with #3! Most ppl who move here know what they’re getting into bc they’re opting for suburban living as opposed to city living. NOVA def has a reputation, and the drivers are trash. But there are lots of beautiful ppl w vibrant stories. It’s not too bad. Where are you from? Sterling?
