Hey Lathland! I was a beta tester for this game and am happy you are playing it! Did you know you can capture ships that you kill? As long as they still have a functioning airlock you can transfer crew to them from the drop down menu under the communications button! (This also includes stations) Then you can have multiple ships! PS your storage died seemingly out of nowhere because it caught on fire, remember to place fire extinguishers!

Ah right didn't even see the fire since I was focusing on the fight! I did have extinguishers for the majority of the time ... Then kinda forgot about them haha! Will look into boarding too, thanks for the tip! :)

glad to see you're back in Cosmoteer! by the way, did you know that in gameplay setttings there is a setting to make attacks ship-relative rather than grid-relative? that way you can tell your ships to stay behind the enemy, instead of having to constantly redirect them, I personally prefer it Settings > Gameplay > Ship Commands > Prefer Ship-Relative Attack Angles

Will this stop the enemy ship from constantly moving backwards? Every fight I engage is my ship chasing after the other in a straight line. It’s annoying cause all their broken bits and salvage are strewn across the sector.

@@superfinalcountdown1 if you approach them from the side this might force them more into a circle, yes if you want to keep the enemy in one place though the best you can do is to try to match their range, so they don't want to back up

I like the new shields being 2x3 rather than 2x2 with an exclusion zone. Looks much better and is easier to build around

Just in case you haven't noticed yet, there is a new weapon. A massive deck cannon. It devours ammo but but deals huge damage and can be put in the middle of your ship with almost full rotation. Also causes nearby crew to stop working for a moment when it fires.

I wasn't sure if there was anything significant not showin in the demo build, that was extra compared to the previous free version I guess I'm getting the game now lmao

Hey Lathrix, its amazing to see all of the attention this game is getting, I've been playing for years (still don't know all the tricks a features though) and am so happy that you're playing as well. Some advice is that when you are attacking smaller ships, say if you want to capture it, going for the cockpit is better that a reactor since reactors explode and have valuable enriched uranium for salvage, if you take the cockpit, you can then capture the ship in the majority with a valuable reactor. Thought I would mention this since I love having multiple ships and MONEY. Have a good one.

@@Tomahawkist_ Those are probably all broken now. Small reactors can now project through adjacent armor and you now need airlocks to hire crew, along with some new parts that would improve your old designs.

One thing I love about Lathrex is that he mostly knows the controls and stuff in games so i.e. I don't have to scream in front of the screen that you can drag from an enemy ship to move relative to it. ( example: 13:59 ) :D

Sooooo soooo happy to see Cosmoteer back again. Reallly look forward to seeing more Lathrixian adventures in Cosmoteer

If I may suggest something, You should build what I call a Void Maw. To put it simply, a Void Maw is a massive U shaped ship with a large amount of mining lasers pointed in. I use it to consume entire stations, but dead, alive, or rock, it consumes all without a trace It requires an escort to disable faster ships but other than that it is the perfect ship to eat your enemies alive

yo! you got me into this game years ago and i remember how much crazy stuff i made, especially with mods! my favorite ship was a massive capitol ship called the hourglass because of its shape and it was a brute with shields, armor, point defense, missiles, canons, lasers, and a fully functioning death star laser... now that it's finally out maybe ill check it out again! hoping with the steam release the modding scene is a lot easier...

So glad to see you back in this game, quality content and much appreciated. Yes please continue as a regular series at a harder difficulty.

Don’t forget, I’m the crew tab, you can designate an entire room of crew to only supply and another to only operate so you can have multiple supply and 1/2 operations people

So, few tips I've noticed in the brief time I played the game myself. 1. Energy weapons are king when it comes to salvage. Lasers are more accurate and longer range than cannons, meaning less lost scrap. And that is without taking into account disruptors which don't deal much damage, but directly damage Energy. 2. Building ships diagonally is a Really Good Way To Build a Defense oriented ship. 3. Despite what I said in point one, I haven't found much loss in just blasting through the target and taking whatever is left. Mainly, because you can supplement the material gains by having a crafting and/or mining ship. 4. It's usually best to just spam the accept button for quests. All the objectives are pre-spawned, so all the quests do is tell you where it spawned, making it easier to avoid fights with non-com ships. 5. The easiest way to make additional ships currently, is to use explosive charges to break off a little baby ship, that has a reactor/cockpit/barracks. 6. You can manually select components on your ship by ctrl+r.clicking the part. You can use this to disable excess weapons/components that you just don't have the crew/power to use yet 7. When you start crafting, for everything but ammo factories, you need to manually set the supply lines, because otherwise they won't empty the factories when they fill up on the refined product. 8. I've noticed that it's hard to exceed 100 m/s in speed without the ship being built to Just be fast. 9. The big dotted ring, is the asteroid belt. Just like the astroid fields, thee have a lot of resources within them. 10. I recommend not mining Sulfer and Jump Fuel until you need to. They aren't worth much, and sulfer is Incredibly inefficient to store. 11. If you can refone something, do it. Everything becomes much easier to store as it is refined, and in the case of coils to hyper coils, unless you need the coils for building, they sell for 3x as much once turned into hyper coils. So you end up with far more credits per space taken up in storage. 12. It is incredibly worth it to build your own space station, if not for the purposes of refining materials, then for storage, as you can shove raw materials into there for when you finally can refine it.

Awesome to see you playing this game! I absolutely love it, so it's great to see you playing it too. Building a huge fleet is super fun, if you set up a second ship attached by an explosive piece and blow it up you can break it into two! another little thing, blocks extend out of their place in the grid visually so it's best to paint over the edges too. If you use gradient paint on a layer you can make a "3d" look which is also nice.

Hey Lathrix, I have found a way of playing that I want you to try, a scourge-like run where you try to devour every solar system's resources. (No, sadly you can't kill all factions as you need crew, and I'm not even sure how to kill any factions yet) you could also do a ship building episode or two for this playthrough. You will need most if not all manufacturing techs, and multiple ships, which you can make by using explosives to create new ships off of other ships, or by taking over wrecks. Up to you. I do hope you end up doing this however, it would be cool seeing what you differently than me :D

@Druid of Scosglen Yup. Lathrix has made GLORIOUS gigantic missile barges in this game and in Reassembly before and they are lovely.

So happy to see a video again from our overlord Lathrix and to see Cosmoteer reappear with the Steam release to boot. I do hope you get to play this alot as I for one will watch it all.

Hey there Lathrix, I remember watching you first video on this game years ago. I picked up because of that. Now that its fleshed out its even better. Was hoping to see you do a video on the update and here we are. Looking forward to more videos on it.

I remember playing this game way back in the day and just 7 minutes in I'm very impressed with how clean and intuitive the UI/Controls are now, as well as the effects for salvaging.

First ever cosmoteer video I've seen and it's a Lathrix video and I'm early. What is this, heaven?

I am so happy to see more big KZreadrs such yourself paying attention to Cosmoteer and playing it, giving it recognition it oh so much deserves... Have been playing it for well over two years now and know almost every nuck and cranny of the base ''Classic'' game. The base game was already one of my favorite games of all time, having two things I love the most- Total control and customization over anything and simple to use yet very complex sandbox tools, and spaceships. I loved Science fiction and spaceships since early childhood. Also, great video 👍! Also... You seem to be loving railguns, I see... Then prepare for ''Railfans!'' Railfans are one of the most commonly known Cosmoteer meta ships. It is a ship that consists of a single side covered with railguns, about 6-8 long ones (With 9 railgun accelerator modules as 9 of them allows you to reach maximum Railgun range, 600 metres) or up to 20 tiny ones. To use the ship, you basically set all of your railguns to ''Fire At Target'' in the weapons menu, make all of them target a single part of an enemy ship, like a reactor or a command room, spin your ship slightly left or right so all the railguns are aiming away from the enemy, and then let it all loose, by rotating the ship the opposite side of where you spun it previously (The community calls this *''Fanning''),* making every single one of your railguns hit the same exact spot, causing an enemy to get absolutely pulverized, if used correctly. It is such a -fun- FAN ship to use! (...To whoever's reading this, sorry for tiring you with extensive Cosmoteer info :>...)

25:51 The storage exploded because it was on fire. And the crew couldn't put the fire out, because the ship had no fire extinguishers. I tend to forget them as well, and realize it when the ship is on fire. "Only _you_ can prevent shipboard fires."

There is a mechanic I think you would enjoy called rail fanning. If you select your the launcher section of your railguns, you can set them to only fire when a targeted block is in sight. You can have multiple rails hit one place by doing this. What you do is when attacking, hold position at max range, target a block, and them rotate your ship to have both railguns fire at the same place causing devastating damage and lost of explosions. I’m not the best at explaining it, so if you want a demonstration, there is tons of guides and videos on railfanning. Enjoy

If you want cheesy there’s this wonderful type of ship called a rail fan. Basically you put a bunch of rail guns next to each other in a row and quickly turn the ship while telling it to fire at a specific block. They will only fire once pointed at that block basically making a burst fire rail gun. Only thing holding it back is you can’t really maneuver while firing and it’s very vulnerable

Hey Lathrix, just in case you didn't know, if you notice that small blue orb middle right of screen, you can click that then click on the map to drop a waypoint you can name. Useful for noting any salvage you leave behind or any areas that have specific resources you may want. Also would love a series on this, looking forward to the builds!

Another warship building and combat game to play? Yes please! I played this game a few years ago before it was on steam, and I really like how it has evolved since

You can set railguns to only fire at targeted blocks; this will make them more accurate and will prevent them from firing at the edge of ships and missing (this matters mostly for rail fans which have several railguns spread out over a large area)

Please make a series of this, I love how you design your ships

The increased storage mods are essential, otherwise you just need a 500 mile long ship full of storage bays. Before I got one of those mods I just had a support ship that was just engines, crew and storage bays that followed my combat ships around to pick up all the salvage and make stuff with the factories.

Ok so, hear me out: "lasers" and not just any laser, but multiple death Ray's combining into 1 giant death ray... Imean personally I'm sold.

The first pirate station I took down, I did so with just mining lasers! I dug into a nearby asteroid, basically rammed the station with it (very very slowly (it was slow)), cut the asteroid in half from the inside and cut straight to their core while my shield tanked the 2/3 cannons that could shoot at me lol

I could see a pretty good strategy being a wide ship with a ton of railguns, and has a really good turning ability. This ship would have a ton of range and would be wide enough that it would be almost impossible to escape a salvo.

Ok this looks like the ideal game to completely snowball and gather every piece of resource possible in the entire system. get greedy and take it all!

Man, Cosmoteer is great. I always build a railgun ship ASAP solely to annihilate - and ventilate - the nearest unidentified flying opponents.

I've been looking forward to this... I was going to jump into it, the day the Steam version released, but I had so much to catch up on piled on me beforehand, so I haven't been able to dig into it proper, so having this as a decent... enlightenment as for what to expect is such a good relief of anticipation for me.

Cannons make me happy because big explosion fun is a sentiment I back fully and completely.

Interested to see what glorious death machines this man will birth from his twisted mind. Good stuff.

Introducing Oneye to the community is a gift in many ways. So in a sense, Lathrix you helped bring out a huge part of the innovations and learnings that happen in the Cosmoteer community- without Oneye here we wouldn’t have a guide that give newcomers baseline knowledge, and we’d also miss out on a lot of faction ships Oneye put into this game you play today. Both of y’all are great, Cosmoteer’s lucky to have ya!

Here's a tip, if you didn't know this, You can just mine for awhile, raw resources are cheap but fast, manufactured resources are decent cash makers, and the best thing is that the prices don't drop (Well when I last played they didn't) also the mining gun is a great CQC for enemies and for scrapping down ships easily (you can also produce your own ammo with small amounts of sulfur)

Wouldn't mind seeing where this series goes. but seeing this really makes me want to see a return of an Avorion season. it's had a fair amount of updates and all that since your last play.
