this scene, this cast, this acting

One of the most well written couples I've ever seen in any media, books included. Stupendous chemistry and acting by both. This scene truly shows how much trust he has in her to move the family forward. He called for her, not Piero or Lorenzo. His absolute trust in her here was probably why he felt so angry and disappointed with her when she went against his wishes to let him die. It was not because she was a 'disobedient wife', but because his trust in her was betrayed and he thought his exile would bring about the ruination of the whole family, and its legacy: 'you put your needs above the ones of my family' in the next prison scene. Also, it is the first time he actually dares to look her in the eyes when he says anything involving his feelings for her 'they will need you now, as I have', 'I know what you did for me, Contessina, thank you'. And again, his trademark click of the tongue and that sound he makes to express how much she means to him, at 1:52 and 2:07. He does that in the last episode too, after she says they will raise his child as their own. Pure admiration and respect, and the closest he ever came to a declaration of love, or affection . Amazing, subtle acting from Richard which gives his character even more depth.

@@LouiseAndersen1991 No they didn't have a choice, but they were people of their time, they understood that their marriages would be arranged. So for him to hold it against her/Contessina was childish, and he also understood that he could never have married Bianca, of what real purpose would Bianca have served other than a bunch of kids, she was not educated, she was not versed in politics nor business, eventually, he would have tired of her just like he did with Magdalena. Maybe he was angry with his dad because he just wanted to keep Bianca on the side while married to Contessina or not but either way Contessina was too much woman for Cosimo. He wanted Bianca and Magdalena because they were something he thought he could fix like the poor and injustices. Poor Cosimo was an angry little boy with a paper sword.

Every man dreams to have a partner like her.

lol first of all richard madden's character in this isn't the same as his character in game of thrones. second of all did you not see roslin frey? she was even prettier than robb's wife. he didn't marry another woman because she was pretty he did so because he loved her

+Colton Lastname, Alex Cudwin Robb didn't get to see Roslin until the day she was marrying edmure. If Robb got to see Roslin around the time Walder was asking for the bethrosal,Robb would've married her. He was first drawn to Talissa because she's a babe and he though Roslin would be very unattractive since all her sisters are very unattractive.

He definitely not loves her .His love is sick.The way he loves ,no woman deserves.He is really sadist.He hates her and at the same time wants her sexually.This is best see in the scene when they have sex.He hates her so much and wants her at the same time.He brought another woman in his house to punish her.Because she was flirting with her ex boyfriend.After sex with his wife he completely forget his mistress.He conciously played with two woman.He hurts his wife when she truly loves him and respected,leaving her .Then he brought Madallena in his house,Not because he cares about her,but uses her as a means of revenge.He deserved to be left , without both,but fortunately for him,she loves his so much.

I still do not understand cosimo and contessina's relationship having watched this twice, were they in love with each other, i know she loved him, but he is a a cold fish. I was always hoping he would fall in love with her

Well certainly she was too much woman for him, it was childish for him to hold their marriage against her. I think he resented that his father did him a favor in marrying him off to a strong woman. Remember that his father commented on her attractiveness but opinionated and the fact that she had no suiters. But his father knew that she was a strong woman and that she could challenge any man or at the very least go toe to toe with him. So he/Cosimo needed a strong partner and it sure as hell wasn't gonna be a laundress who posed almost nude, and no education, he needed a savvy individual who understood business and politics, but to his surprise and anger his feelings became respect and admiration mixed with real feels of what might have been love. He allowed his anger and resentment to rule his life, therefore he never really made love to her, In that scene where they have the fight in which her flirtation with Ezio come up and he has his mark my territory sex, he made it clear that he ruled he knew she didn't take Ezio to her bed, but he let her know that she could never get away with an affair but he could and did, hence Magdalena the other baby mama. Cosimo was an ass, though he was in church all the time, he broke the ten commandments all day long.
