There is this guy at my music school playing tenor sax, guitar, bass, piano and a bit of trumpet and hes in like 7 bands on different instruments obviously. He pretty much constantly practicing one or another instrument haha. Its very very time consuming
Even after the release of the studio version, I keep coming back to this. There's something very special about this version of Brooklyn Bop. Love the way Jordan Rose plays the intro groove.

The original bassline by Cato has such a distinctive feel that the album version just couldn't substitute it just as effectively. Also, it should've been kept as an extended jam in the album version imho.
That sax solo starting off at 2:53 like a 30s classic jazz tune and turning into progressive frenzy at 4:45 is gold 😁😁
Can we expect Brooklyn Bop on an upcoming record? That's a jaaaaaam.

Yo, like you thought you heard it all on an Alto, but Eddie built something next level. Man, that was tasty.
That fucking Barbash sax solo in the first tune…he really speaks through his saxophone. Like, the human voice - through speaking, whispering, yelling, singing in this style or that style - the human voice has such a wide range of expression, and it’s often second nature, because we communicate/talk without needing to think. Eddie has a similar range of expression and total ease in his playing. It’s awesome.
Brandon's guitar solo starting from 25:00 was smokin!!!! Great energy!

Smokin? Brandon burned the house down! He then took those ashes, lit them on fire then put them on a rocket then fired it at the sun and the sun exploded.

That kid is a next level Beast. now !!!!
Right at 11 minutes in all I could think is, as good as Corey is at the rhythm stuff, every time he breaks out an actual lead solo all I can think is, damn, why doesn't he do that more often?
I was there!!!

@@CoryWongMusic "we wrote this tune together during the soundcheck"...thanks for hiding that in! Watching it on Cory On Ice, I was confused why such a banger had eluded me until then. Which, by the way, was remarkably entertaining. Please do mankind a favor and give Sonny a damn feature on the vocals.

I watch this video every few days just for that tune.
It’s great to see the musicians having so much fun together. The joy of excellent performance - smiles all around. And what a band when you can get away with hiding Jordan Rose, Louis Cato, and Negah Santos way in the back!
Was here at this gig. Can confirm the groove was tight.

Good because I couldn’t tell from the video! 😂
Cory Wong and Brandon "Taz" toguether!!! OMG!!!😮😮😮🤩🤩🤩
So many great solos!!! 2:53 Eddie (alto sax) 10:08 Cory (guitar) 24:50 Brandon (guitar) 28:31 Eric (organ) 31:58 Sam (tenor sax) 33:56 Louis (bass)
Watching a music scene as fervent as the american funk/jazz one from Italy is very uplifting even if we’re thousands of km apart. Keep gracing us with things like this! I’ll continue to support for what I can
Bruh the groove just oozes from Jordans playing. Such a baller.
Cory has some really great friends !
"Gumshü" is the biggest reason I need to see you in concert. What a groove.

The saxes at 2:05 are licking the tune 🎷👅, it oughta be illegal!
“Brooklyn Bop” needs to be recorded!! You guys nailed it here but it became a favourite of mine over at Martin Guitar’s road jam. Very good job guys
How can you write a so nice tune like Brooklyn Bop just during the soundcheck !!!? So amazing !! And i can't stop making the chicken with my head listning Smooth Move...
Um salve pra Nêgah Santos brasileira que quebra tudo na percussão dessa banda incrível!
I'm a drummer and man, what would I give to one play something with Negah... just such a great feel.
Love your band Corey! I found you via Dave Koz. I play harmonica, 46th year and was full-time pro by age 20. Left performing publicly to work in non-profit work (did not need amps for that period and just played on my own) many years. Then had a Swing Dance, Jazz, R&B, Funk, Blues band for 10 years in Oregon. Rhythm section, female vocalist and myself with 1 or 2 horns so we could play swing/jazz arrangements with our little "section". I have adapted a bunch of Dave Koz tunes (like Saxman) over to harmonica and so keep up with what he's doing. I was in Austin 6 years, many gigs & sessions with various bands and now returned to San Diego. Again, really appreciate your style....and a great crew of players too!
I was there! What an incredible show. Such a great group of musicians, but the highlight for me might have been Taz's solo on Smooth Move melting my face off. Jaw on the floor.

Brooklyn Bop is really challenging Meditation for my fave live track
Cory at 16:00: CATO ! Cato: Oh yeah ? Look at that, not even waiting for the one. He was so ready
I knew it was coming but I still cracked up at the "it wasn't me" Great performance all around can't wait to see something like it live
24:50, what a pocket, what a tone
From a musician to another musician from the other side of the ocean, you have a gift, you bring joy with your music. Congrats
Tastiest, most criminally underrated and original player in the game!
Brandon's solo on smooth move was too 🔥🔥🔥
jordan rose bringing some heat at the home game
So this blew me away! I laugh, I cry with happiness! This is nirvana. Thanks !
So good! Everyone killed it, but keep going back to that Cato solo in Brooklyn Bop. Can't wait to hear where you guys take that track for an album.
New vibes meet old vibes meets blues meets funk meets old school jazz meets new school jazz meets (fill in the blank). Killer. Just flat out killer!
How does Louis Cato play so many things so effortlessly omg

This guy always opens the bag with something new and surprising. Great support musicians as well. Best all round, feel good band I have heard for many, many years. Guaranteed to lift the spirits.
Definitely gotta be one of the most bands of all time
That was on a whole different level.
Dude Eddie Barbash played a perfect saxophone solo. What on earth?! Everything but the kitchen sink in that solo are the beginning!

I caught you at Club Soda during the Montreal International Jazz Festival last month and you did not disappoint! It takes a tremendous amount of work to come across as effortlessly as you all do. Thank you for continuing to raise the bar and helping to keep live music a thing.
Have to wonder where Petar went for this joint Edit: Steven the tuba player is a whole vibe!!
Oh man I hope Brooklyn Bop ends up getting recorded for an album, it really is quite the bop! Amazing musicianship from Cory and everyone involved as always! Also that slap guitar was FONKY
