I say do a giant Tang lake cichlid tank. Shellies, rock dwellers open water species, throw in one or two predator species after everyone starts breeding! Tang cichlids are amazing, small enough for most hobbyists, and are a wonderful option for people with high ph and hard water.

A solution to the algae corners that first comes to mind, are little holes in the lid at the corners so that you can insert a small rod, with a piece of cloth at the tip of the rod, so all you would need to do is take a plug out of a hole in the corner and insert a rod thru the top, just to clean the corners.

Oh, I would love the Sterbai’s. All my tanks have Cory’s and I love them. I have a 10 gallon long with a school of Venezuelan Red Sail Corys, about 13, some Blue Dream shrimp because my shrimp tank was overflowing with shrimp and a Turquoise blue and red Half Moon Betta. I never get tired of watching my Cory’s especially when they play in the water flow. My betta even schools and plays with them, but his fins sometimes get in his way. He is the only betta I have had that likes water flow. He can get out of it, but he builds his bubble nest in an eddy in the flow and intentionally plays in the flow.

I think with the clearance between the top of the tank and the ceiling? The top is above his head so that's maybe 2 meters above floor level. Did he say it's 4 feet deep? That's over 1.2 meters, so you'd need 1.5 meter stick to hold on to, so the room would need to be fairly high to move that stick into position, probably a ladder or steps too. I don't know, I'm just guessing.

I Think it would be cool to have a local lake/pond fishtank. Large and smallmouth Bass, sunfish, bluegill and minnows. And you can watch them hunt. Would probably need the minnows to establish a solid population with plenty of places to hide. Only issue would be a situation where a Bass gets spooked and would rocket out of the tank.

You need to figure out a way to do what fish farms do and use a width wise plexiglass or maybe window screen to act as a dam, then slide across tank to cut it down to half its size and maybe use another one to come from other side so all fish get trapped in middle for easier grabbing. Hope I described it so it makes sense. Think like two walls closing together.
