Oh yeah, this definately gets the Bad Ass Award! Astonishing to see from the inside just how wonderful it must be to pilot a Corsair.

Amazing work! I love footage like this. How rare is it to see from inside a working Corsair?! How few will ever see something like this without the work from people such as yourself? Thanks to you and Jim! 🍻

I remember years ago watching a Corsair air show routine. I was like if I didn’t see a big prop out front I would swear it was a jet. The performance of that aircraft was amazing 👍🏼. P-51 are awesome but the F-4 is magical ❤

Very, very cool video. I'm 65, and my father was in the Marines during WWII. And, I believe he was ground crew in Peleliu, South Pacific. He also went back in the Navy I believe from '55 to '60, serving on Aircraft Carriers. I watch your video of Jim doing an instructional walk through of his Corsair. I appreciated Jim flying with a P-51 Mustang, another "old school" WWII aircraft I'm interested in. I was raised in Coronado (San Diego) right there next to the North Island NAS (Naval Air Station). I (we) would go to the beach and very often watch all the different aircraft fly over the beach on their approach to land on the North Island airstrip. Most of the time they would fly so low we could almost count the number of bolts and rivets on the underside of the aircraft. The oddest one I saw was the E2 Hawkeye state-of-the-art Radar & Communications plane, with the funny looking huge disc riding on top it's back. Thanks for the video, and thanks Jim Tobul for the very cool cockpit view footage. David p.s. I've been living in the Twin Cities, MN since 1978, btw.

My father, William Stanley Johnson, out of La Habra, Ca. was one such man. Crashed while in practice over seas. Hit ocean hard..sent home to Corona for a long year in a full body cast.. Meant my mother as she was a volunteer Grey Lady nurse heading her floor crew. They created me..I thank them for a beautiful life, each day. Dad loved his F4U..highly praised it. Watching Erik fly, I pretended Erik was my dad. In a way, it gives me a way to appreciate him ( my dad) in a bigger way. Thank you Erik 🐦 Steve in Carmel By The Sea.

Is he using the mask solely for comms? I know that Corsairs had an oxygen bottle behind the seat, but why use it for a low altitude demo flight? Is there an issue with carbon monoxide getting sucked into the cockpit when the canopy is cracked open in flight? Anyone know for sure why it is being used? A related question: Do most piston engine warbirds operate below 12,500MSL? I don't recall having ever seen any pictures of warbird pilots wearing oxygen masks.
