Great guide again. Really helping me with Sekiro. After studing your guide a few times beforehand lol I managed to kill her first time. I was just used the varying techniques getting to know them and I got her to half health with mortal blade and deflects. Then I risked snap seeds and confetti to finish her. Thanks for making the guide.

Superb guide as ever. I think you are a life saver for many people struggling with this game. Enjoyed this fight. I just went toe to toe as i enjoyed taking her on and her move set is quite small.

Your guides are amazing! They are really helping me with this game. Thanks specially for showing different versions of the strat and breaking appart all of her moves. I have just a few snap seeds and divine confetti so refused to use them. So firecrackers, ash and ichimongi double after jumping/mikiri counter her perilous attacks did the trick for me. The encounter took a while cause it was mostly a defensive approach but it only took me 5 tries (which, for me, is great lol). The biggest boss is still the camara imo. Half of my attention went to not getting cornered and keeping the fight in the mid section. For anyone having trouble with that like i did, if you're cornered unlocking the moment she stops her combo and running to a better place works wonders. Maybe is obvious but it save my ass. She is indeed slow and that big attack she does after you take distance is easy to block and a great chanse to ichimongi her head right after

Once again, your advice was the best. I tried that cheesy stunlock with fireacrackers but it didn’t work. Just couldn’t get the timing right. So I fought her one on one with lady butterfly’s Kunai shuriken (after grinding to max my spirit emblem capacity). I even screwed up and accidentally used bite down at one stage and still beat her. Nightjar slash was very handy. When she slashed I jumped and hit her with the nightjar slash - only when it was safe though. I did use the ash. And I ran around - a lot. With the perilous attack I just jumped back. I think there are a few unblockable moves she has too - that upswing is nasty. I like your videos because you don’t assume we can do what you can do, so I’m fighting the bosses my way using Ideas youre giving me. By the way, those vileblade guys are super vulnerable to the whirlwind slash. You can just stunlock them to death with that. Dunno why. But it’s a handy thing for grinding skill points.

Heya. I honestly have never tried the whirlwind slash on the shadow ninjas. I don't have a problem fighting them and kind of like fighting them, they are one of my favorite enemies. But I'll give it a try next time to see what it's like, thanks!

I quit this game because of this fight. Came Back after over a year, watched this video, beat it in about 30 minutes. Bless you sir.

I never imagined myself playing another FromSoft game after trying Dark Souls many many years ago and keeping it aside forever. But thanks to your guides, I'm really enjoying Sekiro and I can see why their games are praiseworthy. I understand the appeal now, behind such punishingly difficult games. And thanks to this particular video, I defeated the corrupted monk on my first attempt, something I've never ever done in Sekiro against any boss or mini-boss till now. I feel your vids are consistently the best, most descriptive of all Sekiro guides in YT, specifically for bosses and mini-bosses. Plus you don't recommend cheesing, which I appreciate. Kudos!

That's a rare case I watched it after I beat it :) Funny, I'm playing 1.04 and they perhaps patched firecrackers and ash as it doesn't stun-lock her forever and she can counter-attack quite quickly, I found it dangerous.... I didn't think of snap seeds, oh snap :( I tried confetti but it added so little and I didn't cheese into stun-locking her so did few hits and they were meh, so I decided I'll find better use to my time then farming confetti :) Next I tried mortal draw with emblems and it was meh too so I just kept firecracking her for free double-ichi whenever my posture built up and generally double-ichi her after her moves to keep it down....I managed to parry ~85% of her attacks and although it was a long fight - it was a joyous.... no huge pressure, no terrible heartbeat, just watch and parry....and my best parrying result I think too :) Was misclicking a lot on her perilous attack often so took me 3 attempts and the worst part is that I saw the type, just kept pressing wrong buttons.... one should know better than to play Sekiro while being tired :) Nice review though as thorough as always :)

use snap seed to stun him, it wont work when the boss hp is halfway through edit: if u dont have divine confetti, use the phoenix lilac umbrella. its a good replacement for divine confettie

@@stevekalil7988 I say you should look forward to it - all the sword boss battles are the most fun, even if the boss owns you over and over. Try to get into the fight instead of trying just to win. That's how I end up no damaging everything and learning the fights inside out - by just enjoying the feeling of the fight and worrying about getting the win later 👌

@@stevekalil7988 Gotta say blocking and parrying are my favorite things in melee/fighting games. Even in real life it was always my strong point, which I think translates into gaming. That's why I love games like Absolver too, and why I really loved Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (it uses the same posture/parry mechanic as Sekiro).

Dayum Fuzzy, snap peas worked like a charm! Another one in the books...

Very easy solution is to sneak behind pre fight. Use 3 snap seeds to take off about I quarter of health(more snap seeds will not do extra DMG) then stun with firecrackers, get behind,2 attacks, firecracker,2 attacks, firecracker. Once firecracker runs out, exact same process but using ash. Get behind, ash, 2 attacks, ash 2 attacks. By the end of this she will be 3 hits to death. Spam attack until finisher. Easy fight. Also use ceremonial dagger prefight to gain extra firecrackers. I did this fight pre genichiro.

I hope one day I'll beat this boss. But I think it's the hardest boss I have faced so far in the game. And I have already beaten Lady Butterfly, and that Seven Spears boss.

I saw many confusion/incorrect thought about Divine Confetti. DC here works as a buff rather than weakness toward the Apparition type enemies.

Divine Confetti is always a buff. The buff is increased against Apparition enemies because by lore it's their weakness simply because they can be hit by weapons imbued with it. So saying it's a buff and apparition enemies are weak to it is literally correct.

That mikiri attack can be deflected too, if you guys don't know already

Can confirm this worked for me- vitality of 13, attack power 3. No consumables, just firecrackers and whirlwind slash.

I did this the hard way I guess, took about 1-1.5hrs using no items and just the spiral spear. Mostly deflections and getting in some hits at the end of some of her move sets with my sword or spear to bring her vitality down. Many moves of hers you can stay out of range & then get a spear thrust in or step in and get a couple sword strikes. Cursed myself a lot because I don't think I got in one Mikiri counter the whole time lol

Once again, a nice thorough video detailing A = B however C can also = B if you prefer. Rant incoming: this is what kills me about that KZread policy because when I mention other's videos it's less an advertisement (though they deserve it) and more to share some drastically overlooked videos that can help the community. Before you it was Vaatividya (yes that's another violation). Seen tons of tips and tricks videos but his breakdown on the importance of parry in his 20 overlooked mechanics video, totally revamped how I played. Like you drastically overlooked. Rant over. Time to rewatch this in special education mode so that it hopefully sticks. Killed me 4 times already but I'll be damned if I have to farm for more confetti.

Yeah, I hear you. I personally think if it isn't spamming (and I get a lot of those types of comments from channels trying to promote themselves that nobody sees on the front end) I don't mind. I like sharing. I used to share other YT channels on my Nioh videos as there was so much good content out there and great people in the community. Back on topic. I only ask because after obtaining infinite dive I retraced water areas I could remember and it opened a few mysteries but I dont want to throw spoilers at you. Edit: to harken back to violating policy, if you want to laugh your ass off at somebody struggling in sekiro, check out afrosenju xl. His latest fight with the big ape goes cool confidence to mental breakdown at the speed of light.

@@miceandgods4171 Okay I'll do that lol. Nope, still on my first playthrough for a couple of reasons. First one, primary one, is I'm playing for the battles, so I'm in no rush. I like to have the fights and prolong them, not cheese them to get through. Second one is often when I start a new game I decide to make it challenging by doing it the hardest way first. In Red Dead Redemption 2 I set myself the goal of gold medalling every mission before I allowed myself to move on (man, that was tough!). In Sekiro I set myself the challenge that I would get to the end without dying. My rule is if I die, I have to start over. In the beginning that wasn't a great rule. Though now I'm pretty good with not dying at all (a neat trick is if you think you're going to bite the dust, hit that homeward idol and try again before you do). I typically don't die to any enemy anymore - and if I did I think I'm comfortable with speed running the game - so my biggest challenge now is not dying all the way to the end and no damaging absolutely everything. And then on top of that I don't get much time to play, and in the limited time I have I try to make guides. So yeah, because I make stupid decisions like this in a life always short of time I always end up behind the people I'm making guides for lol. Thanks for not wanting to spoil things for me, but I'm pretty much immune to worrying about spoilers. I already know Darth Vader is Luke's father, so I think after that the rest is all okay. :D

Plus she would get more child support money if she pinned it on Anakin because Jar Jar is a broke ass. Well, your goals and aspirations in this game seem certifiably batshit insane. But then again, you mop up bosses like Mike Tyson beating up cancer ward patients. Besides, I have no room to talk. I'll literally spend hours on one little section of a stealth game until I know every enemy patrol route and clear the area perfect. Restart the area 50 times if I have to. The challenge is the best part, so I get it. Still batshit insane though. As far as the questions I had, well they multiplied by 100 now and I dont want to spoil things for you. However I will point you to a nonspoiler because I want to see your approach. Underwater headless at ashina castle. I believe it was called serpents shrine? Right outside the castle by the cliff. If you go there and head back to the castle it's in that first water area. With the bridge and the 3 guards.

I killed her on my first attempt. Didn't know you could stun lock her in so many ways. I parried the crap out of her throughout the fight and punished her with mortal draw whenever I could (until I got her health down to 50%) then changed my combat art to Ichimonji Double and broke her posture pretty easily. It was an easy fight. But seriously, she becomes a joke when you use snap seeds/firecrackers/salt. Thanks for the guide. In my next playthrough, I am gonna employ your cheese :P

I find Corrupted Monk easy too. A lot of people have struggled here though, same as with the proper Corrupted Monk. I think you'll be fine with the proper Corrupted Monk if you were fine with this one.

@@fuzzybearbarian Yeah, I was fine with the True Corrupted Monk. Though she killed me with her terror attack in my first attempt, I beat her in the next try. I got the Divine Dragon's tears. Now, just need to backtrack my way to Ashina Outskirts. Apparently, I didn't get the key item to unlock the Second Hirata Memory from Emma. So I won't get the last 2 beads now. Would it matter much?

@@fuzzybearbarian I guess so. Without the last two beads, I won't get the final prayer necklace upgrade. That's 20% less vitality and posture. The final boss is going to tear me apart in one shot lol

This one is actually really fun to fight outright. Phantom kunai are a good way to knock off some health, but won't work if you are too close to her. The attacks are very predictable and its easy to get a hit in after the combo. Snap seed for emergency. I used 9 phantom kunai and 1 snap seed.

That moment you actually beat her legit then come here and find out a way to cheese her. Feelsbadman lol. I kept jumping all her attacks and timing my hits, 1 or 2 hits at a time until she died. It was grindy and long but it paid off! and at one point she couldn't even touch me :) In the process i learned that it was useless for me to deflect her attacks as she recovered fast, just hit and run until she gets weak. As always nice content man, keep it coming.

This was a easy and quick fight with ash n firecrackers

Took me a few tries with cowboys method; but no success. Tried your (Bear's) spam stun, but I couldn't get the timing. using 3 snap seeds, confetti & sugar at first, then firecrackers til li ran out, and then parry/attack, I beat him on the 3rd try. Credit to Bear; again :)

I do exactly this but I don’t do the same damage as you - I can only get her to about a third health before exhausting all my resources! I’m guessing I need to up my attack power first? Mine’s at 4 by the way. Might they have nerfed this technique?

Hasn't been nerfed. It might just be that your blocks aren't proper deflections, as these increase her posture bar enabling more damage. My attack power is 5 in this so not much more than yours. A little helps of course, but overall the real key is deflection. This fight doesn't go much different with a +1 attack power character if you deflect correctly. So maybe take notice as to whether your deflections are on point and harming her posture or whether or not their blocks that are harming your posture.

Boss Fight Score I actually don’t have trouble deflecting her blows on this fight (though I can’t defeat her through this as my posture breaks too quickly). My problem is getting her health down initially using the firecrackers, snapseeds and confetti. With each blow, I can see that it takes off more chunks of her vitality than it does with me

Maybe the following points will help: 1) If your posture is getting broken then you are not deflecting you are blocking. Your posture can't break if you deflect with proper timing, it is impossible. Your posture bar can fill to max but it can't break if you deflect. Try to take note of the different color effect and clang noise between a block and a deflect to get used to the difference. If you deflect constantly the enemy's posture breaks, you do more damage to their vitality, then when they recover their posture now you are doing more damage to their posture from deflections than you were before because their vitality has reduced. Which leads into: 2) Damage is not just a product of attack value. The damage you do is affected by numerous things including a) attack value, b) the body part being struck, d) skills in effect, e) buffs such as Ako's Sugar, Yasha'rikus Sugar and Divine Confetti etc, f) enemy vitality (the lower the vitality the more posture damage they take). Regarding skills, there are skills to get that increase your damage immediately following a perfect deflection. Look for Ascending Carp and Descending Carp skills to increase you damage from a perfect deflection. 3). Play with a wired controller, not a wireless controller. Makes a big difference for getting perfect parry's timed properly. I never play with a wireless controller. Never. Hope that helps.

After giving dragon rot to for 11 people. I finally understood that it’s useless to parry her for some reason she always kills me by breaking my posture. I finally used mortal draw and firecrackers and hit her like anything and ran away from all her dances and killed her. I don’t know how to go for the big ape after this.

It's never useless to parry. A parry is a perfect deflect ie. where you time your block perfectly. If you do that your posture can never be broken, ever. A parry will also hurt the enemy's posture greatly. But if you don't time it perfectly, that's a standard block that hurts your posture rather than theirs. So if she's always breaking your posture, the solution is you need to time your blocks properly. That's how Sekiro's posture system works, so it applies to all enemies and all bosses.

in the last 2 minutes which skill did you've done? 3 or 4 Slashes with the sword, which skill is this?

Edit maybe you haven't done one because she really doesn't do that much different in the other fight. I'm playing now on PS5 as opposed to the PlayStation 4 Pro. The extra frame rates makes this game so much easier. It's truly incredible how different this game feels

@@robk5437 Yep, that was my thinking. What I did was work how how to no damage her and I posted that here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eXyi15uud7Pfpto.html. When I posted that I thought it wasn't different enough to warrant a whole new guide, and thought anyone struggling could see how I did it in the no damage video. I kind of think that was a mistake in hindsight though as a lot of people have pointed out they still struggled. Unfortunately I don't have Sekiro installed anymore so I won't be making a guide on that now. For future games though I'll do every single boss, no matter what. That's my takeaway!

Can somone please tell me how to find the corrupted monk, I just fought the guardian ape and still haven't found her

She's at the end of the Hidden Forest.

I do have a feeling this boss is a bit of a DPS test. At attack power lv3 I'm barely denting her health bar, even with the floating passage combat art.

@@ErwinHeiser No worries. Doesn't hurt to return to bosses with more upgrades. They can all be beaten at base though, however it is definitely more challenging to do so.

Can you use anti air deathblow when she is in the air?

Maybe, but the timing would have to be pretty on point. Can't remember if I tried it now that I come to think of it...

I beat her without breaking my controller. I am telling you, man, even walking is challenging in this game. By far, the toughest game I've ever played in my entire life. Even Elden Ring was not that hard, if you ask me.

I wonder if anti air death blows can be performed on this boss or the true monk? The true monk, jumps a lot. Although it may not be worth the risk even if it’s possible.

Sadly it doesn't work on the Corrupted Monk. I haven't tested on the true one yet though, but I think the outcome will be the same.

Fuzzy Bearbarian, that’s too bad, but you showed enough ways to beat the illusion monk without anti air death blows being needed. He was not easy but was beatable. Hardest fight for me so far, b/c I was used to standing toe to toe and alternating deflect with attack. Does not work on that boss very well at all. Or the ape. Both those were tough until I figured it out.

@@Mandalore646 Or Headless. Headless has some kind of coding that says "if you attack, he will clobber you" lol. You can see it in action if you stand back and try to hit him with the Nightjar art. Every single time he'll just smash you into the ground instantly.

How can I increase sekiro running speed? please help me.

You can only walk or run. Hold circle or B to spring, that's it. Some areas will make you walk though.

sadly her posture has been buffed heavily now you can't kill her this way

Just a technical comment for anyone watching this, "mortal draw" uses 3 spirit symbols in the 1.06 version, so it is far less attractive.

Silly me, I thought you had to deflect and posture break like EVERY OTHER BOSS IN THIS GAME :P Oh yeah, lower vitality means lower posture. I keep forgetting that.

I used git gud technique because i had no snap seeds and i dont like wasting spirit emblems

​@@rezganger Japan has female monks, and so do other cultures. All a monk is referring to is a fully ordained monastic, and in other cultures there are fully ordained monastic men and fully ordained monastic women. In Sekiro, Yao is a fully ordained monastic who has become corrupted.

Just lower its health and start parrying you cant do that? Dont worry u will get used too it Corrupted Monk is just FromSoftware ability too test the player if there ggood enough too continue or not

Wait doesnt the mortal blade consume spirit emblems???

Yep, it does. But once you've run out you can use it anyway.

Monkeys in Sunken Valley drop them. Or beat the True Corrupted Monk and then you can buy them from vendors.

Ahh, the boss that made me quit the game, maybe I should get back to it as I loved everything about the game up to this point, but spending hours and hours of my very limited spare time just made me lose any interest in it.

My advice is to just spend half an hour trying to beat her and then shut it down and try again another time. Use my video to get an idea of her moves. Eventually you'll win and you'll be glad you kept going. You can't get this far and not complete the game!

Swimming. Now that you've got the diving ability there's a few things to pick up that you can swim for. Look for my Red Carp eyes video for a prayer bead/red carp eyes for Doujun. Head to Senpou Temple and swim there for some more stuff ( a gourd seed if I remember rightly). Maybe search YT for a vid to help with Carp Scale locations as there's a few you can get that also lead you to some other things. Also, if you've beaten Guardian Ape then head to just passed the Poison Pools for the dual ape fight, or to the top of Ashina Castle to (potentially) fight the last 2 bosses or more depending on what option you choose. So yep, there's a few options there.
