come on dude, theres no such a thing early in the game. your way is perfect but without the skills you mention, the time her posture is full her life is almost zero. so after 20-25 tries i still working on that old b...ch.will see

@@parkourito2397 If your posture gets to half way, start holding block down until the last minute when you need to tap to deflect. Holding block restores your posture. Just release and tap instantly the attack on you begins. If you can't manage that, then go away and get the skills I mentioned. In the near future I'll speedrun to her and show this method working on her with base stats, but for now if this method isn't working for you, go away and come back when you have the 2 carp skills.

The one thing I would add in the beginning of the 2nd phase is that if you stay aggressive and attacking she won't summon the apparitions. She needs space to do that. Eventually she'll make space to get them to appear but you can delay that for around half of phase 2

Legitimately one of the most succinct guides I've found for this game so far, will be subscribing off the back of it. Thank you for your effort in showcasing how this boss isn't quite the mountainous challenge I'd built it up to be in my mind.

Really well made tutorial. What I like most ist that you repeat important aspects (so no need to pause or rewind) and that what you explain is what happends on screen. This helps a lot. I didn't beat her so far. She breaks my posture every now and then. But with your tutorial I managed to get her flawlessly to phase two. Tonight I will kick her wrinkled butt.

I banged against this boss for more than an hour over two separate nights and was SO FRUSTRATED by her. My old DS/BB skills were getting me to the 2nd phase regularly, but not consistently. I was losing too much health from misreading attacks and trying to dodge through stuff when I got scared. Then I tried the SoloVG Method™, and learned to stay with her, stay calm, and deflect everything. Using the SoloVG Method™ I was able to use my own knowledge of the fight, unlearn my old habits, and understand the game in a new way. AND I beat the boss in only a few more tries! Thanks, SoloVG! (results are typical when adopting SoloVG's Method™, but cannot be guaranteed; if blood pressure rises too high or your hands are damaged from smashing them on your desk, please talk with your doctor)

@@gtaman2152 Don't sell, you can do it! Just takes patience and practice. Also, if she's just too much of a handful, go away and play through in a different direction until you've upgraded yourself a little. You'll kick yourself if you let the frustration get to you and sell the game. Nothing more satisfying than finally beating some of these bosses!

@@gtaman2152 The fire bull is easy to beat once you learn the strat (kzread.info/dash/bejne/aYJ2y8OhqK61XZc.html), even if the fight against him is a bit meh and annoying. So I'd say do the bull. But if you're there, it means you've beat the horse boss. In which case, make sure you get the text to open the ashina arts skill before doing the bull. Save up 5 skill points, allocate them to Ichimonji, Ascending Carp and Descending Carp, then go do Butterfly whenever you want and you'll find her much easier.

Best video on this boss fight. Excellent breakdown and explanation. Can’t believe the key is to spam block. You make it look so easy by toying with her.

Only recently got the game and this video helped massively understanding this boss and actually defeating her without snap seeds and cheese lol. Thank you!

This is by FAR the best guide for Lady Butterfly. Tried all the other methods, being aggressive, the 2 hit then side dodge, nothing got me closer than about 50% through phase 2. Tried this method and nailed it in one go. My only advice would be to use the snap peas. Sometimes it takes so long to run around and get the illusions to disperse that her posture fully resets. If you use a snap pea right away you can get back to hitting her sooner.

I'm uploading a Nioh 2 boss fight right now where I tried Ninjutsu throwing items in my first fight against one of the bosses, and boy was it unsatisfying to no damage a boss without really doing anything. I won't begrudge people who want cheese strats or the easy way out, but there's just no satisfaction in it for me. I was sitting here thinking about how it's the combat that I like rather than just getting passed the boss, and bam, there's your comment.

Amazing guide dude. I read a lot of people quitting the game over this boss. By using this guide, she was actually the easiest main boss I’ve fought by far!

This is how every Guide should be ! Breakdown of moves and attacks of strategys and showing them live in action. Most other guides are like : Learn her patterns and then do a mix of good attacks and deflects.... (Oh no shit sherlock who would have thought) but your guide is excellent ! after watching your guide i only needed 5 more tries to finally defeat her both phases and i only needed 1 "estus". Before your guide i died ~ 30 times

Haven't gotten to her yet but you explained the fight really well.

Yesterday I finally managed to beat her, thanks to your very helpful tips. I did a few things different: in phase 1 i never used shuriken, when red symbol appears while she's in the air just jump away. I didnt use the snapseeds, but i killed remaining minions with a shuriken. Everything else I did exactly like you said and it helped me a LOT.

Oh my God Thank you very much for this! I would waste my Shurikens before getting into Phase 2. From your theory on “finally” defeating this witch. I was able to understand that defense can defeat an enemy on this game. Since this is an activision game that made Tenchu which it is mostly stealth method techniques can help you beat the game easily. On your video though, she was getting on my nerves on the second phase releasing her illusions and I was near her

I re watched your video and listened carefully where as yesterday I rushed.... I finally beat her (after having to use a garden grass?? full recovery thing). I jumped up in joy and didn't deliver the final deathblow;;; so she came back at me and reduced my health 85% lol so I quit to reset so as to not lost the divine grass in vane lol. will try again. So as far as the game thinks, I have not...…. but 3 more tries..... I finally beat her with your video and improving my dodge, 2 R1 attacks. Thank you Bear. My credit to you.

I still kept dying. But I saw another video where a guy just used confetti and whirlwind slash in a circle with out locking on and I got her first try. If you wanted to give it a shot. It was like 4 or 5 hits and I got a deathblow so it's very good on it

I've been trying to cheese her for hours and while the first phase is really easy using nightjar, the second phase seemed impossible. After your video, it only took me 2 or 3 attempts to beat her. Actually, I've beaten her twice in a row because I forgot about the second killing blow and was surprised by her attacking me again after the first one while I was already jumping through the living room. Yeah, I did that the first time I killed her. I was too busy celebrating to realise I needed a 2nd deathblow, and she killed me in one hit as I barely had any health left.

@@DanielS-gv5nj Haha, I was so pissed off! Mostly because I was skiving at work, and one of my mates phoned me just before I killed her, to ask me a trivial question! Even so, it took me another 7-8 attempts to finally get her down. And when I did, I found it far easier than the other fights, I just beat down her posture and one shot killed her. Twice this time though ;)

After reading this guide, killed her 1st try. Very much appreciated. Liked and subscribed.

Thanks and yep. However, if you stand in front sometimes you can follow her backwards and trap her against the wall or the corner and end the fight without her even summoning a single apparation, so I prefer to start at the front for that reason.

She was turning me into a raving lunatic. 😭 I think I might have had an easier time, but didn't have snaps seeds and she wouldn't always *poof* all of her illusions making it super frustrating. Awesome! Yeah, when she leaves an illusion or two around it makes it a bit more troublesome for sure. That's why I kind of do my best to herd them together, which is the idea behind running pillar to pillar and stopping at each pillar to allow them to have more of a chance of grouping up.

@@tremorism yeah, I eventually cottoned on to that when she kept leaving 4-5 up making it impossible to re-engage. I'm sure when I eventually get to do a new game + I'll do much better. Fighting her has also helped me with Ashina Seven Spears, he still murdered me, but I got him super close, so I am confident I shall be able to defeat him later today. Just need to work on my timing a bit more and stop panicking when things go well.

@@UraharaKoi Haha I totally hear you. When doing no damage runs it's always down the last hit when the heights of "omg this is it don't screw up" start to really kick in haha.

After watching this video, I COULD NOT get passed the second phase. I kept losing all my progress when she would do her illusion attack and she'd eventually do some crazy shit and combo me and I'd die. But I finally killed her and she started doing her first illusion right as I got the deathblow, so I got super lucky and didn't even have to deal with it at all when I killed her. Your video helped a lot, thank you!

If you stay after her as the second phase starts, she has a tough time trying to summon adds. The dying NPC just outside the fight gives you a few snap seeds. If you were brave and picked up the ones near the Great Serpent earlier, (just around the left corner from the ledge), then you should have plenty for this fight. A good attack pattern that works with a lot of enemies is attack, attack, attack, block/deflect. For some reason, by that third attack, they decide to start deflecting or counterattacking. If you want to play it safe, go attack, attack, block.

You can also jump on her, jump off, and slash twice, repeat. As soon as she jumps into the air, you'll land, and throw a shuriken, then dash forward and strike. You can repeat that until she dies. You can also dodge left or right, and strike twice, and repeat.

That was impressive... Best explanation i seen of this boss. By far.

For Bloodborne bosses I've watched Fextralife's videos, but for Sekiro I'm gonna stick to yours as they are way better. Thank you)

Beat her first try after watching this, and I’m so glad after like 3 hours of attempts

Is spent no less than 8 hours on this one boss. Which is annoying since I spent about the same on the last one and only got to play the game for like 5 min before running into this one. I love the game but these bosses are too hard.

Finally beat her thanks to your tips! Eventually anyway, one problem i consistently had that i didnt see in your video was that when she turned the spirits into butterflies, between 1 and 4 would almost always remain meaning id have to deal with them a well as her. Sometimes id still have 1 or 2 chasing me when she summoned another batch

Yeah, that can happen. It's a bit RNG. It doesn't really happen much though if you run to a pillar and let them all almost get there, then run to the next pillar and wait, and so on. That's why you see me try to stop at each pillar for as long as I can.

@@tremorism Yeah, at least the checkpoint isn't far away from the boss fight so I don't have to waste so much time between attempts lol

@@GamerGrampz Thankfully. I'm not a fan of one's where you have to kill ten gazillion enemies before the boss each time you have to try.

It's hard for everyone, and ultimately it's just practice and patience and perserverence. My advice to everyone is always aim first to no damage phase 1 of any fight while ignoring even trying to win the whole fight or even phase 2. Once you can no damage phase 1 easily the stress of the overall fight vanishes and you can focus entirely on doing the same thing with phase 2. If you're not trying to win but are just trying to get better at phase 1, a lot of the stress disappears. Once you get better at phase 1 typically I find phase 2 just clicks pretty well and, even if not, you'll be able to use all you're buffs/gourds and what not to at least get through it. Don't sleep on using the hidden tooth either. It can give you the near equivalent of two extra health bars if you use it properly, which can be the difference between failing and edging out a win.
