Alsi florida cannot supercede the supreme court. So if someone is arrested or ticketed for it? Thats a lawsuit. Cops know better. They just know a lot of people wont follow through. Besides they also know there are zero consequences for them if someone does. Qualified immunity needs to end and they need to be held personally responsible. The first million dollar judgement against a cop that he has to personally pay? Yeah other cops around the country will take note. Time to start learning what we can and cannot do. They wont want to lose their pensions and have to pay someone for the rest of their lives. It sounds so simple yet the government wont do it. Just make it their personal piggy banks problem. The taxpayer.

I'll bet it took a lot of guts for those people to call those thugs out - each one definitely was upset about what they were seeing. And each one looked damned afraid. Not good. Apparently they've terrorized the entire area.

This made me tear up. Brooks, the female cop, created the whole situation. She refused to accept that maybe her interpretation of events was wrong and didn't want to hear his side of things. Everything that happened, even indirectly like the death of the dog, was her fault. She is an example of the worst kind of cops: those who see the poor or homeless as less than people and thus not part of the community they serve. Her ego trip caused needless suffering and the death of an innocent animal.

And the one showing such a lack of empathy to so blatantly lie about his service dog biting him as an excuse to justify using the taser on her. Not because he thought she would bite his partner, but because he knew that doing so would inflict massive emotional anguish to a homeless veteran who they already view as less than human...

This word is the root for most of the terms we use today. Including politician or politics. Policy is a much newer term that is not used globally. Just within the English language family, and the English common law tradition

Now this is just anecdotal, but I’ve had many encounters due to our communities heavy push towards community policing and cops back on the beat walking the same streets as the citizens. I have to say that I cried through this, also. The dog didn't deserve tazing! The officers...how many of them ended up out there? Fifteen? Twenty? And all over a possible $5-10 maximum donation? But what truly broke my heart... Sunshine! My own service dog? She, also, was named Sunshine. And she almost got shot in the backseat of my car when I was stopped for a ridiculous reason that couldn't even justify a ticket. But my Sunshine put her head over the seat, trying to figure out what was happening. Her tail, also, was wagging. I feel so for this gentleman! And not to mention the dog!

When I worked in a youth residential center over 35 years ago, we had a tap out system. Which meant any staff observing another staff getting caught up in a power struggle with a resident, could be tapped out by any other staff. At which point the person tapped out needed to leave the interaction and let someone else take over-even if they believe they were handling the matter appropriately (that could all be sorted out later). Is it really the case that police departments haven’t at least figured that out? It’s unconscionable to me that we give people guns and the power to detain and arrest us without proper training.

I agree 100% This dude sacrificed his time to help protect our freedoms whilst these pigs treated him like a criminal. This drives me beyond anger to see. They could have spoken to him like equals, and even offered help, but that was not inline with their egos.

THE DOG BIT HIM. IT IS CLEAR IF YOU LISTEN TO 9:17. THE OFFICER LITERALLY REACTS TO THE PAIN AND DIDN'T SAY A WORD ABOUT THE DOG BEFORE THIS. Unbelievable. This is was is what is wrong with the nation. A diliberate disconnect with reality. You people jump on a bandwagon without any critical thought.

@@hook86 crazy how you can look up your name and your past comments on this page is all pro cop you this guys burner or what ? Also doesn’t show the dog biting him so we don’t know what the noise is for I’m not gonna take his word for it either solely based on the fact he lied about the dog barking which brings to question the validity of his accusation of the dog biting him ?

Wait, did Sunshine die? I missed that part - I had to skip a lot so that may have been part of it. Oh my god that's so awful I feel sick.

Being a dog owner, this case immediately hit me hard. Sunshine was clearly a good and beautiful dog. I feel so bad for him losing his best friend. It brought tears to my eyes. These cops are tyrants and deserve to lose their jobs for this. It's very scary to think that this could happen to me and it'd be completely out of my control.

I had to scroll for sometime before finding a post that had sunshine in mind. I am disappointed in having to do so. Thank you for being the one to talk about it. I wish I had room for this man at my home. I’ve got two dogs that would love to be there for him. God that rest sunshine. And God bless all the animals who have helped the veterans come home and be at peace through the years. They are another group of truly unsung heroes

It made me cry too, these officers picked on him and he clearly lied because he wanted to hurt the dog to hurt the guy. Disgusting, I hope they get karma BIG time
