The black ring. I had forgotten to look that up.
I do not work at Late Night, but I did work in 30 Rock until my role went fully remote about two years ago. Some months after that, I went into the office and dumped the entire contents of my desk into an IKEA bag which I then took home and stuffed in a closet and forgot about. At some point in the subsequent year and a half, I discovered and then worked my way through every single episode of Corrections, finally catching up last week. Today, I needed to find something in that IKEA bag, and while digging through it I found a stack of those early pandemic era "This area has been cleaned & disinfected" signs that the cleaning staff used to leave on our desks each night, and which I kept to use as scrap paper. I had completely forgotten that this was the origin of the Corrections notes, and for an appalling moment it felt like Corrections had somehow invaded my home and hidden itself in my bedroom closet. Truly unsettling. It is pretty great scrap paper though.

@maxhuibregtse4319

Correcting the correction: Independence was declared on the 2nd, which was why Adams thought that would be the holiday. The text of the Declaration was adopted on the 4th, so that was the date on the original printings that went out to the public + got cemented in the popular consciousness. Seth was absolutely correct in his phrasing. Additional information: Independence wasn't actually unanimous until July 9th because New York was late to the party. The embossed (read: fancy) copy of the Declaration was signed by most of the signers on August 2nd, but some of the signers were elected after that. Thomas McKean may not have signed until 1783. In later years, when McKean was trying to prove he did sign, Jefferson's government issued a statement saying everyone signed on the 4th + McKean was senile because they were already so committed to the myth of the 4th of July.

I worked for Kinko’s for many years, including a year after it was bought by FedEx and re-branded as FedEx Office. The name Kinko’s is so ingrained in the minds of people of a certain vintage I have even seen some current locations labeled as FedEx Office with signage indicating “Kinko’s inside.” I have fond memories of working there from the quirky customers I met to the students I painstakingly helped format their dissertations to the exacting standards required. I even got an early copy of a cassette of Bill Hicks recorded under the name Marble Head Johnson in return for helping the producer find the best stock for printing the J-cards on in those early days of color copiers. I really appreciate the exposure to the local “scene” from comic artists to band flyers to budding authors or world renowned experts in Mayan hieroglyphics.
Seth chose Bird Bane!! WOO HOO!!
Correction(ish?): so while most ballerinas are not necessarily tossed in the air like cheerleaders are, many are lifted during jumps. There is the occasional “toss” into the air (an example is the “Cheshire Cat lift” and the Washington Ballet has a video that shows the ballerina being lifted from a jump above the male dancer’s head). But for the most part ballerinas are told not to gain weight (whether in those exact words or not) in part because the men do sometimes lift them over their heads. There are many pas de deux that have the man walking across the stage while holding the woman over his head in a held position. Idk but I would argue that’s probably just as hard as throwing someone over your head? Especially considering how sometimes they carry the woman with only one arm over their head while walking across the stage. I was a ballerina myself for over a decade and was part of a number of lifts as well as other aspects of pas de deux which require a lot of strength on the part of the man. And yes, we the women were sometimes told to watch our weight because the men had to lift us. Anyway, I’m so happy that you’re continuing corrections Seth!! Jackals have hearts? Who knew?
The BirdBane song on the new Taylor Swift album is only on the CD version as a hidden track. Streaming services don't want you to know it exists.
Did anyone else catch "maybe he *was* the king" when Seth failed his first attempt to open the envelope? 9:21 A subtle but quick-witted homage to Carson!
OMFGs - The pencil is a Corrections in-joke!!! The LNWSM ident / logo is actually a Corrections logo. The pencil in the ident is symbolising Corrections. *slightly breathless, by eureka moment after months long puzzlement, and running to the top of the already K deep Corrections feed, yelling ‘wextra wextra’*
Yesss, I'm so glad it's Thursday night, and I get to watch Corrections!! 🐾🥰
Good luck on the emmy nominations! Bird Bane is an epic choice, although I don't envy you & your staff having to choose a single Corrections to submit! ❤🐾
As someone who was addicted to Carson's Comedy Classics as a kid, this was a special treat.

As someone who watched Carson as an adult every night on TV, this was great as well.
I may be biased, but I think Episode 102 should be the Emmy submission.
My best friends moved to South Dakota (from Texas, where I have lived my entire life, and will unequivocally say is better than South Dakota in nearly every way aside from temperatures in the summer) I visited them in South Dakota exactly one time- late December, 2019, I was the ONLY PERSON on the flight to SD who was heading TO their vacation destination, EVERYONE else was headed home from their vacation. Based on this visit I can say that even 1 Dakota is 1 too many,

Only visited US once, 1987, work 1 day, then 3 weeks "free" driving east to Chicago, spent most of it in SD, NE. Impression: slow; shocked by shot-up town signs, but people were friendly, helpful, curious about why we were there. "For the history? We have none" was common. Regret not knowing tips were important for wait staff. Chicago was a complete change of pace. I saw an unatteded suitcase in the airport, found someone in uniform, quietly said possible bomb, and he shrugged.

When Seth read the Pre-face of Celebrity Baby Teeth, he sounded just like John Mulaney. And his "you should have seen his face [fess]" joke right after was Chef's Kiss! 😄

Hey, don't knock OSHA inspectors calling you on on spreading misinformation about eye protection. You joke, but they'll kick you off a ladder while still maintaining 3 points of contact.
Again, I just love that this thing is real and happening. It's kinda like a toddler dancing or laughing really hard. Not the corner stone to a new movement or anything, but a flower in a sea of green leaves that makes you happy and smile, just for itself and the act of being.

I used to teach intro to biological anthropology. I told my students the correct pronunciation of Neanderthal and then one of my students told me that learning that meant that her entire life had been a lie and I had no idea how to reply to that.
