    Worth noting that with the errata rules template weapons aimed at the ground suffer -2 to hit and are therefore more likely to scatter making them slightly less of an effective counter against Corpse Grinders

    I had hella fun playing their campaign. My butcher had a heavy rock saw and bulging biceps. He could 1 round 99% of enemies. Even when going heads up with the rival gang leader. In the end I also added an Ambot/obliterator Mashup, like a mini dreadnought, for my first butcher who died from overwhelming ranged attacks that had a knock back..he fell off a catway and into the grinder.

    I'm of the "spooky masks too spooky" camp. I get that stripping away enemy ganger actions has two reasons: 1) to keep the CGC on their feet against random stubgun pokes and 2) to keep the enemy ganger potentially in charge range come next turn because outside Initiates, charging into melee is the only method of consistent, reliable damage. Sure, your Butchers, Cutters, and Skinners can all pack 'nades, but their poor BS and the high chance you'll run out of those 'nades (or even blow yourself up!) makes them squarely inconsistent and unreliable. I just feel that the spooky mask is a sledgehammer solution to the problem. The game already has the Nerves of Steel skill which would counter the first problem. I feel like it could either be baked into the CGC, or they should have Ferocity as a primary skill set. It's like how Escher have access to Spring Up and have a +2 Initiative, so it's your own damn fault if you didn't pick it for your melee gangers. If the mask is a must, maybe have the effect only work on fighters taking shots within the CGC vision arc? If done this way, smokes and maybe even booby traps become necessary gear to deny enemy sight lines and force them to literally try to shoot you in the face, but a sneaky ganger popping a round in your Khorne-blessed glutes would be a completely valid tactic! One thing I completely agree with the community as being "broken" is the boning sword. For a mere 20 credits, you get a D2, AP -2 Parry, Rending melee weapon. There's just no comparing other cheap melee weapons with it. It even beats out most expensive options as well. I banned myself from using it in my own CGC list, instead opting with the flensing knife for my Initiates, a more of a "sidegrade" to the fighting knife, swapping out Backstab with Rending.

    ahahaha. "Khorne-blessed glutes." Yeah I think a good solution would be the front vision arc. I actually sent that recommendation to GW via their FAQ email. I never heard back. :D You play them as well so you're speaking from a point of experience. I really don't mind the grinders but I definitely limit what they are capable of on the channel. Thanks for watching and great comment!

    The vision arc fix is a good idea and would make sense on a narrative point of view (no pun intended), treat it like Iron Stare from the House of Iron book. I am going to have to keep this in mind for the campaign I am planning. Thanks!

    @dmitrytimofeevsky7079

    I think that its a core rules problem. Notice that a melee gang is in dire need of tools to fight pinning. In my opinion at the very least Charge(Double) should be available for pinned fighters - they should be able to stand up, move up to M" and fight. This way you can't keep melee champions pinned forever. The other problem is that melee is completely uninteractive for the person who is getting charged - their attacks, nor weapon skill do not matter in the slightest. With Corpse Grinders this is cranked to 11, since nothing is surviving a bucket of dice to reliably make reaction attacks.

  • @DaThingOnTheDoorstep

    @DaThingOnTheDoorstep

    Жыл бұрын

    @@dmitrytimofeevsky7079 Oh yeah, they do need something to not be pinned all the time, but I think it's a bit much for a fighter to lose all actions if they fail a test and that you must take the test even if the corpse grinder is not even looking at you. The Orlock Iron Stare style tweak to the rule sounds pretty good. As for charging from pinned, I don't know, maybe simply allowing fighters to deliberately move into melee contact as its own Basic action? Not a Move action as it'd keep the 1" rule intact. This new action wouldn't give you any charge bonuses, nor would it let you fight for free. Problem though is, I can see this action being used to deliberately slow down enemy fighters and prevent them from charging next turn, as they would need to use at least one Fight action to get rid of the tar pit ganger and not be able to charge, though depending how your group interprets the consolidation rule, doing so into another ganger may still be an option. To prevent this, perhaps allow the defending fighter an immediate reaction attack? Imagine unlike a charge where one fighter goes in swinging where the defender barely has time to react, this action is a slower approach and the other ganger takes defensive swings at them as they do so? It would be a risky move, but if it works out, you have your melee ganger engaged in combat.

    Great video! Just as a suggestion, it could be nice if the picture or at least the rules text portion of the tactic card you are currently talking about would be visible on screen, too. EDIT: assuming such a policy would be okay with GW lawyers, of course.

    You may want to double check but I believe that flamer templates don't get around the willpower check of the masks the same way a blast template does. If I remember correctly it's because the rules for flamer templates is worded as still targeting someone whereas a blast template you can specifically target a space.

    Checking from the Ash Wastes book. It says “instead of declaring an enemy to be the target of the attack, place the flame template…” Should still bypass. Thanks for bringing that up!

    3:40 You didn't add +1 attack for the benefits of following the Blood God listed on p9 of the Book of Ruin... do Corpse Grinder Cults not get those benefits? They are specifically mentioned in the paragraph leading up to those bonuses, so it would seem odd to me if they didn't. Thanks for all of the videos!

    It's interesting. I see what you're saying. They are definitely mentioned as following the Blood God but make no mention of receiving the benefits. I think that section is more for gangs that become corrupt by chaos. As with many things Necromunda, subject to interpretation! 🤣

    I would say make the masks only effective from the front vision arc. So getting behind fighters is very beneficial. You could also consider making them a -1 or 2 penalty to hit instead of cancelling an action. Also depending on the scenario, eliminate infiltrate as it’s a big game changer. Cheers!

    Sound video. To sumarise, they're broken. I feel like when they designed dark uprising GW really liked the CGC and went ham giving them all of the rules! Another point is their costing they are undercosted for what they do, all fighters are effectively given a free skill whether that is infiltrate or berserk charge. I kinda feel like GW didn't really playtest them or wanted them superstrong to fit the narrative of the boxed set. Plus the get cheap weapons with lots of damage 2, also sever is BS...
