Thanks for a nice introduction to the new Pace. Another great value in a running watch. I’ve preordered the track version to replace my red Pace 2. I know it is shallow, but I love how that red nylon strap looks like a track.
Yeah, I am rewatching your video, thanks, Dave. I really enjoyed how you condensed so much information in just 22 minutes - wonderful details. I'm going on Day Four now and my battery life is still at 57% with 7 days left.
Dude you are simply the best at reviews. Thoroughly enjoy them.
I do have a Pace 2 and I pretty much use it for running on roads only, I don't think I would be upgrading but will def be keeping an eye out for it in the next few months!
I was lucky enough to be part of the field testing group for this. This is easily the best watch for the price…and 100% competes with a lot of more expensive watches. I have an Apex 2 Pro and now find myself using the Pace 3 as my daily watch instead. The heart rate monitor is, by far, the most accurate on any watch I’ve ever used (Apple Watch, Garmin Fenix 7 & Forerunner). It was always spot on with my chest strap. The screen is crisper and the dial is more responsive than my other Coros watches. I never had any issues at all with GPS tracking either. Overall, just unbeatable value in my opinion.

Right now I’m using Strava and Poalr H10 chest heart rate monitor, so I get a map and HRM would like a watch and more lace and tracking capabilities. Can you convince me to use a watch? I feel like I would still end up carrying phone somehow although I don’t like holding phone all the time

I have an Apex Pro, is it much brighter and crisper, I know the HR must be much more accurate? I am debating between Apex 2 or 2 Pro or Coros Pace 3. I do not think I will need the TOPO maps I wonder how much HRV gives you?
@15KJ

@@NYyankee02The watch will give you what you already have, but all in one place/app. No need to worry about the HRM or Strava when you can do both in one location. If you’re looking for your first GPS watch, this is easily the best option. Everything you need, nothing you don’t…at a reasonable price tag

@@jasontwooI have an Apex 2 Pro and the screen on the Pace 3 definitely looks crisper to me. Especially when outside and glancing down at your wrist. I personally don’t use maps all that often either. HRV is an interesting metric that I keep track of but only as an FYI (it doesn’t change my behavior or anything). I would say it comes down to the build materials you want. If you want a more premium feel/look, go with the Apex 2/Pro because of the metal case. But if you don’t care about that, Pace 3 is more than enough.

@@15KJApex 2 Pro here as well. The difference in screen is due to the sapphire glass on the Apex 2 Pro and not because of the LCD panel.
Trail Running! Finally! Music it a nice addition as well. I've had a Pace 2 for over a year now and I really can't complain. I don't NEED to upgrade but I can see myself getting the Pace 3 sooner than later.
Great video as always Dave 💪 I'll be upgrading my Coros Pace 2 😎
Love my Pace 2 and just purchased the new Pace 3 yesterday during the launch. I mostly trail run and hike, so that was the biggest selling point for me. 😊
Woohoo was waiting for this - your review and the watch.
Previously from Garmin Fenix 6 user now purchased Coros Pace 3 nylon black because i want something lightweight & comfortable! Thanks for this video..Keep it up the good work! 👍👍👍
Oh... How I would love to love this one ! It has a lightweight build, attractive appearance, impressive battery life, and user-friendly app. However, as a cyclist, I'm hesitant about its suitability for my needs. I'm leaning more towards the 265 model, which offers a range of wellness features that could help keep me motivated. Despite not needing the advanced features of Garmin's pricier options...
Great review. Thank you for the detailed and useful information.
I think you just sold me on this!! I just need to research the recovery and sleep modes on the watch compared to Garmin. Thank you!
I own a Pace 2 and have purchased the Pace 3 this morning 😊 I can’t wait to start using it. The pace 2 was my entry level runner’s watch coming from an apple 4 watch and I haven’t looked back.
Another pace 2 owner, I love these watches I only got a watch for my weekly run a couple of years ago. It never comes off my wrist just simply amazing. Not sure I would upgrade but you never know. Can attest to the excellent battery life it crazy good.
It looks like Coros has finally sorted out their accuracy in term of heart rate and GPS. Interesting times are on their way.

@@michaelnewman880Interesting. I watched a review video (in German) where the Pace3 matched the 965 in gps accuracy. Their lines on the map (even in challenging tree covered areas) were basically on top of each other.
Thank you for the presentation, it was useful.
The touch feature is nice. I noticed on the Pace 3 you can tap to select an option but not on Apex 2 so maybe they will enable this on Apex series soon
What we perceive we need versus what we actually need: I think I remember you talking about this about a year or so ago. At $229, the pace 3 is exactly what most people need. For me, it’s a very tempting AWU alternative watch, something to take on longer trips or runs. I’d look at this before an Epix Pro due to features you get for the price. That’s just a steal!

You hit the nail on the head. Kind of a no brainer at this price point unless you need some super advanced features!
Great review. I'm totally agree with you, this is a very good watch, maybe best option in this price. I'm big Coros fan, but as you mention even old Garmin has more wellness option, body battery etc.
I returned a Suunto 9 Peak because of restart problems, I believe this one are going to be my new watch.
Great review. I been hopping between getting a Garmin equivalent of taking the plunge on a Coros Pace 3. After watching your review it's going to be the later!
Have a Pace 2 and will be upgrading as the new features are worth it, the improved battery life, screen quality, HR sensor and music storage on the watch. Now I just have to wait till it's available in Europe and Australia.
Mother - apex2, father - pace 1, result - pace 3, and brother in law - pace 2. From my POV to pace series added more fancy features, to cover more requests from amateur auditory. Also now to me looks that with current hw it's possible even add mapping (same memory with Apex pro & vertix1). Waiting for update with touch enabling in stand-by mode for apex pro (if it will come).
As a Pace 2 owner I struggle to read the displays especially during my night runs. I was hoping for a brightness control but that has not come through even on the Pace 3. I am willing to sacrifice battery life for readability. This might be the only reason I might switch to a Garmin for it's excellent display.
Without a doubt, you make the best reviews on the web. And I have not found a worthwhile review of the TISSOT T-Touch Solar. It would be Fabulous and a worthy review for TISSOT, if you did it ❤... With your style and your great work, bringing us all the detail you do in your videos!!🤞
Nice review, nice watch, thank you so much.

Heey Chase, love your videos! Can this track Strength workouts and give recovery feedback while also tracking walking, biking and yoga and have battery that will last a week to two weeks? Also, if not do you have a suggestion? I want to put it on and leave it on as long as possible so it could look nice like this, I'll defer to your judgment!
Thank for review I am on market to upgrade my Pace 2 and apex 2 is the top list. With Pace 3 just released, do you still recommend Apex 2 over Pace 3? Case material is not my concern and I am mainly using for running, trail running and walk.
Great video! I just liked & subscribed.
I'm a student and planning on getting a coros pace 3 because it offers just what I need for a low price! This video just helps me to make the decision. The Apple Watch SE is in the same price zone but it's lack of many features that this one has.
Solid review!
As a Pace 2 owner I was hoping for an overall better sleep tracker because I work also night shifts.. I don't care about music on board so much. But 8 hours more battery in gps mode is a nice upgrade...

How does it measure heart rate throughout the day, I heard somewhere it does this at something like 10 minute intervals outside of activities? Is this true and can it be set to measure at higher intervals like every minute for example when sleeping? I'm thinking about things like sleep apnea, 10 minute interval might not be enough to notice some spikes.
I have the Coros Pace 2 and no Heartbeat measuring while swimming. Hoped this works with Pace 3. Garmin FR 955 is no problem with it. Also no ANT+ anymore is a no-buy for me for the 3 because I cannot connect to my rowing device (concept2) anymore. I will go with the FR965. This review helped me a lot to see this. Thx!
I love the Polar App, and I guess some people love the Garmin tech, but you'd really have to love it a lot not to get the pace 3. How many people couldn't everything they need from it? I do like that they've added some sports modes from high end watches, it's somethink that I like polar for and Garmin stinks at.
Thanks so much for the review! I just ordered the new PACE 3. My reasoning is that I loved my PACE 2 which I used for about two full years (~8,000 km / 5,000 mi total), and I think the battery has suffered. Recently, when I did the 120K Lavaredo Ultra in Italy, it was at just 5% battery after 25 hours of running. Still pretty good, sure, and that's only down from 30 hours when new (according to COROS), but I noticed it over the months. I love the PACE 2 and have no complaints at all. Touchscreen isn't something I'm very keen on, but better GPS and general display quality is. The price is amazing despite the slight increase. I think the slight design update makes it look sleeker, too. Solid upgrade!

Unfortunately Battery degradation is a common thing among smartwatches regardless of the brand. I'd say ~10% loss over 2 years is pretty average on your pace 2. It's great you were able to get through a 120K with it!

Looks like a solid upgrade. I've still got my old Coros pace 2, it was my first proper running watch, although my main daily driver is now a Garmin Epix Gen 2. Overall I prefer Garmin's multi-sport ecosystem, though Evolabs is improving all time, and I think if you just want to stick to running, in some ways it is superior to Garmin's. Another thing I've found was the optical heart season on the pace 2 was rock solid for me where as on Epix it is terrible especially during intervals. The only retrograde step here is the removal of Ant+ sensor support. The great advantage of Ant+ is once you connect a device using Ant+ it stays connected.
@maxfreeman6343
9 ай бұрын
It looks like that there is no need in ANT+ after Bluetooth was updated to ver 5. The main difference between ANT+ and Bluetooth used to be the ability to connect to several devices (sensors) simultaneously, but now Bluetooth can do it too.

@@maxfreeman6343Thats cool, i didn’t know that. So Pod2 and earbuds will work together. I was curious about that.
If this next Apple Watch don’t improve on battery life I may get this and keep my series 7 for everyday use. Ultra too big for me and I almost bought the Garmin forerunner 265 but don’t want to spend that much on something I’m only gonna wear for outdoor activities. My series 7 died after 5hrs outside and I’m trying to run and hike more.

Apex 2 does have the updated chipset with "All Systems" and is similar in terms of accuracy in that setting... But yeah no dual frequency. To be fair, Dual Frequency is overkill for most situations unless you're in a city with tall buildings around you or in a slot canyon.

Thank you for the awesome and balanced review! I am looking for a no-frills running watch and the Pace 3 seems to tick all the boxes. Waiting for mine to arrive :) Also considered the FR255 but I don't really need the music or lifestyle frills, plus it does cost a bit more. Question: how's the readability like on the Pace 3? It does look rather dim in the vid.
A very good functional update at a reasonable price. If I didn't have the Pace 2, I would definitely buy the Pace 3. But since I'm mainly concerned with the running features, the Pace 2 is enough for me now. True, I would like a larger display. the price increase is definitely justified. Definite upgrades: sp02 - for hiking at altitude and such, this is very useful. music - great as a backup. any other upgrades like wifi, better gps ...etc are gravy. Very close to being the perfect watch for me. Would have been nice if the straps were compatible with pace 2.

Hey Dave! Love the reviews! I’m still using my Garmin 945 and worried battery and accuracy may be weakening? If I upgrade I’m think 265 or 955. I don’t use mapping… 1. Do I really need an updated watch after 3 years or is the 265 a big upgrade? Thanks!!
@ChaseTheSummit
9 ай бұрын
945 is still a great watch. The sad reality about all smartwatches is battery degradation after 2-3 years. You'll likely see a 5-10% drop in performance and it will get worse as time goes on. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it's drastically different. Upgrading is a personal choice... I can't make that for you but 3-5 years seems average.
Speaking as one who doesn't run, as doesn't hike very much, this still looks like a good choice in terms of bang for the buck. I'm intrigued by the dual GPS, route specification, and bread crumb capabilities. When I drive out into an unfamiliar area and lose all map/nav coverage on my phone, I'm thinking careful use of the watch might fill in that gap.
@cyberfunk3793

Why would you ever lose coverage on your phone? GPS doesn't need a cell signal and you can download offline maps for the whole country in many apps on a phone.
Great review. Bye Bye Apple Watch. I use my Apple more as a fitness tracker and the battery life is just silly. I hiked for 15 hours yesterday and had to charge twice on my breaks. Looking forward to the advanced features and battery life of the Pace 3.

Maybe an unanswerable question, but … since I’m working on a tight budget and don’t have the cabbage to buy a new watch annually, which is more likely to last me 3+ years: Garmin 255 or COROS pace 3? I like them both, and the prices right now are pretty close. Thanks, and as always, love your channel!
Such a feature with that price point is a great luring to its buyers. However it would have been great if Coros introduce trade in like feature at near future.

Hello Dave! I'm reaching out from Greece, currently deliberating between the Coros Pace 3 and the Garmin Forerunner 255. Could you provide insights into their heart rate accuracy, helping me decide which one would be a better choice?

Both are great options. I'd say the 255 has more wellness tools like body battery and more advanced sleep/recovery tracking. The Pace 3 has better battery life and I'd say feels a bit more "utilitarian" and simpler to use. If you like gadgets and extra's go for Garmin. If you just want a simple tool to track runs and workouts go COROS.

@@ChaseTheSummit Thank you very much, Dave.
Love the video. I have a question, can be used for triathlons? (I'm sorry for my English, I'm from Colombia) Thanks you

For music, you can only download mp3 for when you dont have your phone. But if you do have your phone, can the Pace 3 control music functions?

Unfortunately no, there's no music control function on any of the COROS watches including Pace 3. It's more of a simple MP3 player built into the watch without a phone integration.
Hey does it have a built in speaker, or playback music through it if so?
Thanks for the review. Sadly 42mm is way too small for my wrists.

I kinda feel the same way. I wish they made a "Pace 3 Ultra" or something with a bigger battery, display, and case in a 45-46mm form factor.
Can you customize that main screen that shows the time etc.? Love this watch but it has too much going on on that main watch face screen. Thats a dealbreaker for me. Please advise thx!
I prefer the newer style Velcro strap. Its has a cleaner, more wrist hugging profile without the bulky plastic attachment pieces the old nylon has.
Btw, do you still need to run to activate EvoLab ? Because... I don't 😅
Let's watch this!
Did you have any issues with display brightness? Just got the watch and really like the feel of it (haven’t worked out with it yet), but think the dimness of the display is going to be an issue even with raise to brighten and back light adjustments. Possible Coros might update allowing for greater control of display brightness? I’d be willing to sacrifice a couple days of battery for this. Thanks.

MIP displays take some getting used to. The Pace 3 actually has one of the nicer displays for MIP. These are super functional for direct sunlight and inherently always on but they don't hold a candle to AMOLED displays like on the Apple Watch when it comes to vibrance and "pop"!
Hello Need to get any review on updating of 14.31 firmware on Non pro epix. What all is missing from PRO. Any battery drain issue? Weather overlays are 4 or 3. Awaiting reply better in a review
I'm going to buy it but it's going to take a while to get on sale in my country
Would you recommend this over the Forerunner 255 music which is about $40 more?

Where are you finding a 255 music for 270? I’m seeing them at 400.
Can it broadcast HR data to a bike computer like Wahoo’s Bolt ?
Could switching from Garmin 745 to Coros Pace 3 make sense for a road runner who sometimes swims and does strength training?

Sure, I don't see why not. You'll only sacrifice some of the smartwatch features (connect IQ store, Music, etc...)
Sad that the white pace 3 now has black bezel instead of white. It looks like just another watch. But cannot fault the functions provided. Pretty much covered all the needs for a running enthusiast.
Looking at buying my first gps watch. Would you recommend this?

On a budget this is a good choice.
Weird question about notifications. Can it get them on a regular basis, not just during activities, from an iPhone? Meaning, can notifications be read, as on garmin 265?

Yep, same deal. In or out of activities.

Thanks, much appreciated.
Great comparison review. I’m thinking to get COROS, but I’m curious if they have the option to combine workouts in 1 set, for instance running - jumping rope, etc, when I don’t need to switch between workout modes? I don’t think that in multi sport option I can add jumping rope (this is must have) to workout session.
What to buy forerunner 965 or coros pace 3?? 🤯
