GERMANY has more testing, 3 times more per capita Germany has more ICU beds 4 times more per capita. Germany has more doctors and nurses per capita. Germany started enforcement of lockdowns a week earlier. Yes the toll is high but you can't deleat fear.

The reason why covid19 has been declared a global pandemic is because it's highly infectious. The fact that people are not permitted to go to work should be a clear indicative of how serious this disease is. I'm sure people would respond in the same way if/when the seasonal flu screw us in the same way.

Why would a care home risk their staff and business, when they charge like 1000 to 2000 per patient and making money anyway? Taking sick people there, will mean staff would not come to work anymore, residents dying, therefore less money. Not everything you see on tv is real you know. Both similar cultures, sizes and population composition, one locked down and one didn't. Their death rates are statistically identical as is their infection rate. No it won't, because this thing is gonna be here for at least a couple of years. Not the current lockdown, but the the pandemic. Lockdowns will come and go, community screenings along with more efficient contact tracing will ramp up and improve, we'll develop effective treatments... There's no lightswitch moment coming though. We're probably going to be in a perpetual state of leak testing for the next couple of years. Sloooowly opening up the valves, watching the sensor data, looking for leaks, never taking an eye off the pressure guage or the hand off the valve. Then adjust up and down as we learn, and tune our operations. We'll get there eventually, but not until "everyone" is vaccinated. It's not looking too sharp for long term immunization through recovery from natural infection (if it turns out antibodies only protecting from reinfection for a few months, is norm, then natural herd immunity is impossible). A viral vaccine however, is a genetic designer tool. We can tailor the immune response in ways natural infection can not, so we can "supercharge" the antibody result.

For your knowledge I do inform from official websites as WHO and use history as a guidance. I am nowhere near a virologist but doesn't mean I can't have an understanding of it. You can't lock people up the way they do for as long as they want to. Will be high consequences in crime and mental health in the weeks coming.

Land Lord Schools should be closed. Some schools are reopened from today in China where there are no more ill patients and new infected people but every child is disinfected before the entrance, every child is wearing a mask and plastic shield covering their face. Yes, the virus started in China but the world knew it and did nothing to stop it.

I will not send my child back to school!

The school children will have to wear a box, which will be 6ft 6ins( 2meters) in every direction, exepting the top. Have a window in the front, so they can see ,then you can guarantee social distancing. This could apply to adults as well.

People, if it was my kids I’d never send them back until after the summer and then I’d think about it... Need to accept life how it is now on...

Corona COVID-19 First of all the schools forwarded online work so the parents can set their days up just like school time tables so they still have a regimented schedule, secondly, if you’re a dumb*ss then don’t worry about it you’re kids will be the same.. Kids will not miss out on an education... just lazy parents.

I agree it's protecting life but it's certainly not protecting our way of life.

Would opening schools not be a terrible call? Children go home to their at risk family members. I would've thought getting low risk healthy people back to work would be a better move but I definitely feel for kids stuck in the house all the time.

How on Earth can schools open first!? Have any of these people tried to get children, especially very young ones, to social distance?

I think they need to get these politicians in schools as I work in a school and I can say it is extremely difficult to keep children 2 meters apart and for the children in nursery it is nearly impossible. I feel like they have no idea how close we actually are to the children and try to explain to a non verbal child why they can't have a cuddle when they are sad.

It is ridiculous to state that schools can be re-opened with social distancing put in place. For one, class sizes are around 25. Staff are placed at risk again. Public transport will need to be run near to normal effecting others. News organisations should stop badgering this idea and the government should not speak out without thinking, unlike Mr Trump.

There is nothing more important than life. Sort out the testing and forget about everything else for now.

Why can't the BBC provide all of the numbers in ONE news segment? Hospital as one input, At home as another input, and care homes as the third input. Please provide ONE news story which covers all three parts of the equation. In other words all cases, or all deaths reported for 24 hours in the UK. Someone is collecting all three numbers to your NHS somewhere.

How are you meant to social distance in schools exactly? My child in 6 and I cannot wrap my mind around managing that in infant schools. My sister works in a carehome in Newcastle and rang me last night from work so worried as the majority of the residents in her home were tested positive.

Minority of people worried about coffee shops ,pubs & football 🤔not health .

When I lived In Hongkong they used to have half the kids do a morning class then go home, then the rest came on the afternoon shift. Half a day with less kids must be better and safer than none .

Kids are the worse place to start

I’m a key worker getting taking advantage of by Parcelforce & most adults don’t even adhere to the 2 metre rule so why they think kids are going to is beyond me😒😒
