The only time I knew about Jack. A law abiding family man. (90's forwards) The reality, (70's and 80's) a cold hearted drunk who had no time for his son especially, besides his wife. Just shows you how generations of viewers can be manipulated. I don't even recognise the Duckworths as a whole family from the characters I knew from the early to mid 90's. Terry done well being as kind hearted as he was. These writers just push the limits constantly.

Totally agree mate.
Corrie September 1985 - Goodbye to the uncharismatic Claytons (I was not sorry to see them go); goodbye to the old corner shop (I was sorry), and hello to Jack Duckworth behind the bar of the Rovers. It seems around this point, that he and son Terry started to swap characters: Terry gradually becoming the bad boy of the street, and Jack softening from mean and nasty husband and father, to almost respectable loveable rogue.

Percy was right about the self service aspect of the new way of shopping. I remember the corner stores of yesteryear, the person behind the counter helping you and striking up a conversation. Also, Martin Platt, his acting ability peaked at smacking his lips and tutting.
