Some really corny Public Information films from the early to mid 1970's. I can remember some of them too! Don't throw fireworks!

I remember the "Aiee ! It's Julie !" PIF been shown on UK TV in the early 1980s.

Some of them were quite useful. I remember to this day road safety ones, crossing the road etc and as everyone rich enough to have a TV watched the same channels so all took on board the information.

That final one - the fireworks one always used to be shown as an edited version where they threw the firework and the girl screamed, then a stern voice-over said: "Don't fool around with fireworks!"

I grew up in Northern Ireland in the 70’s near to a couple of the places featured in that road safety advert. Sadly it has continued to be a major blight into the 21st century.

I’d reckon there were more pressing issues to occupy the emergency services in 1970s Northern Ireland than dangerous driving as you were more likely to be caught up in a bomb or be in the path of a stray bullet
