This is perfect for me. The last year I have just been doing elements on a loop as my basic 'maintenance' routine, ramping up to MPK and others in the 2-3 months before a trip. Looking forward to trying this too.

Chase, your content is unreal some of the most genuine helpful stuff on KZread, massive thanks for your effort. About to signup for this program, been going through your injury playlist, just wondering if you have any videos that address knee pain located on the inside of knees? Have solved a lot of issues on the outer with ITB exercises but experiencing some debilitating pain on the inner knee still

Really appreciate the advice, hoping to keep increasing mileage pain free. Pretty sure it’s the views that are going to take me out- not paying attention to the ground directly ahead causes majority of my injuries on trail lol

I always preferred the uphill, even when running. Something about being able to focus and push myself. Downhill I don’t hate, but I’m older and taller and I don’t want a knee injury. So I’m much less willing to push on the downhill.

Probably wise! I assume you’re using the downhill technique I’ve showed in a couple of old videos?

It all depends is the up hill and or down hill outside? Oh and did I trip? For me it is about the smiles not the miles. And on a side note I have only subscribed to 9 channels and yours was one of the first four. Thank you so much for the insight, inspiration and help.

@@ChaseMountains Please do. And thanks again for all you have done. I'm going to finish the application trai this summer. Got any plans?

Considering Tour du Mont Blanc this summer. I did MPK prior to the John Muir Trail in 2021 and still incorporate some of the exercises and stretches in my routine. I would still consider myself relatively fit (CrossFit style workouts, weight training, hiking) but could definitely use some work. Would this program be a good choice, or would a different program be better at this time. Thank you for all your help.

This is a good program to follow MPK, you’ll already be familiar with a lot of the exercises. I am not sure if you are running or hiking the TDMB but either way, the way this program is built you can modulate for either. I would say it’s a good choice 👍

This sounds like something that would be perfect for me. My current program incorporates strength and strength endurance but not in this way with phases throughout the year so I often end up overtrained and tired.

  • @ChaseMountains

@@ChaseMountains what about using mechanical drop sets to work to failure? This would work both strength and strength endurance. Or would you only use that during the endurance phase? I’ve been trying to get some hypertrophy through body weight/minimal equipment.

Why are squats currently getting so much negative press ? Implying that they are drastically and dangerously wrong for setting up a correct base for later, more integrated body development.

Because being a contrarian is a way to get engagement. I’m almost 40 and squat twice a week. As long as you know what you’re doing squats are 👌

With 9 months, I would say this one. As long as you’re not starting from a base of like zero fitness. If you are starting from zero, do my Elements program :)

I'm looking at doing Aconcagua in a year or two. Have you come across any recommended fitness targets to be ready for the trip? So far, I've found some vague ones. Thanks and good luck on your prep and climb!

@@upsidedownjim I don't have any specific targets but this will be my 5th mountain so I know about where I should be personally. I train 4 days in the gym and at least 1 day out with a weighted pack doing anywhere from 8-12 miles until it's comfortable. I really need to work on my knee, hip, ankle strength for going downhill as I have IT band issues so that'll also be a major area of focus for me. Best of luck in your endeavors!
