Corner Workshop Bench & Band Saw Stand Build
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
After getting upset with the state that my workshop has got into recently I build a corner workbench and bandsaw sand to try to get at least one section of the workshop organised.
Total cost of the 7 lengths of 3x2 and a single sheet of MDF for the bench was approx £65.

Love this book! kzread.infoUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!
That is another great job looking forward to the next one thanks from Australia
If this was an American KZreadr there'd be 5 sheets of Baltic birch 1 inch ply, 96 Rockler unobtanium drawer sliders, 24 2 by 4 supports all coming in at the price of a brand new F150. This is proper diy!

Brilliant and tidy job, and a very inspirational video.thankyou💯👍👍
Every workshop is an evolving story and it's good to point out, as you did, that it will probably change again, but it's not a reason to put off making improvements today ! I'm planning a few changes myself so this is interesting to see and it's a reminder that it's sometimes good to just buy the basic materials and get on with it ! Always good to have a new flat surface to cover !

By no means was my comment mean in a derogatory way just an observation, Mr Millard was the one who highlighted it to me
I enjoy the way you approach your channel and your subscribers. You give solid advice and demonstrate the skills needed to accomplish projects without all the super ego look at me BS seen in many channels similar to yours. The truth is those who keep pointing at themselves trying to convince others of their greatness aren’t usually the real deal anyway.
I like the ‘threaded bar dowel’ idea!
Nice work on the bench, you should add a fence onto the bench drill, if that's piece was to start spinning your gloves could get stuck on the drill bit and pull your hand into the drill bit. I have had this happen to me in the past with a combi drill so I could release the trigger and the but stopped but it was pretty sore!
😂😂😂I’m 11mins in and imagining you in your disco gear throwing some shapes to this music 🤣🤣🤣

That wouldn't be a good look on video for sure
Now to avoid the problem of avoiding using it as a landing zone for all the various tools, parts, and pieces that are usually a part of every shop. The threaded rod could be used along with a nut and washer as a means for leveling your shelving.
Stuart you do such a good job of thinking ahead to prevent a mistake or something kludgy looking. It’s got me thinking more that way myself! Thanks!

nice work done...greetings from Germany👍👍👍
Lovely video thank you. Just a quick note, could you put up at the end of video a kind of cutting list of sorts for what you used with projects like this, wood sizes...screws...other hardware etc
Impressive amount of work for just an afternoon, including a fun time hanging around the big shed. Ironically I’ve just built a storage unit for my Aldi Ferrex bandsaw but elected for a smaller cart on wheels with 3 integral drawers for mine. One thing I did do is get a big flappy stop power button for it; I found a design online and 3D printed mine but they’re only a few £ on etsy. Definitely makes the band saw safer.
I love projects like these, unfortunately I've reached the end in my shed to improve much, so seeing you tackle it brings back memories and better ways to do it than I did. Enjoyed it very much! Well done! (And yeah, my space is cluttered with materials atm as you said ;p )

Excellent as usual, one observation, would have been stronger if the bandsaw housing base was supported by the sides and not underslung
@David-bl1bt
Жыл бұрын
Yes, I thought exactly that too. Additionally I would have fitted an mdf base to that bandsaw as a "cadd" so I It could slide in and out. I would also fit removable infill pieces at bench level, it's gonna get full of sawdust on that lower shelf.
nice job 👍👍
Thanks for reminding me to charge my 360 laser :)
Some puzzle piece rubber mats on that concrete floor might give your shop cleaner look, be easier on your feet and back, and help keep dropped things from breaking.

Stuart, I know you are High on safety, But i feel compelled to tell you that is recommended against wearing gloved while operating a table saw. The damage to your hand is most of the time bigger with gloves then without. this due to the blade violently removing the glove of your hand or pulling your hand in. I'd hate for you to get hurt. That being said, love your videos!!!
Cheers.
You can never have too many benches Stuart.
Great video. I'm thinking a video on selecting and sizing screws would be helpful, if you get a chance!
The most annoying thing is an untidy workshop. Nice job Stuart.
Prediction: The bandsaw box ends up a standalone piece that has a home in the corner as shown but is separable and be-wheeled so that it can be taken out into the middle of the shop for re-sawing railway sleepers or whatever.
I feel that you might regret fixing a bandsaw into a corner. Mine is on a trolley, and gets moved almost every cut- you cannot predict where the workpiece will overhang. Also makes dust collection hose awkward, and all that valuable space behind difficult to get to. The only tool that fits well into a corner is a milling machine... 'Everything that can go on wheels, should go on wheels'.

@@stephencave187 If carrying it somewhere else is 'addressing the issue'. And might he not regret having to move it often? That was my contention. Personally I would trolley mount it and dock it there. Best of both worlds. You are welcome.

@@Tensquaremetreworkshop If most of his cutting is accommodated in that corner then it may be that he thinks building a stand alone unit and mounting it on castors is overkill for an occasional cut. Doesn't look like he has to carry it very far to his workbench and he seems physically able to do so safely.
@Tensquaremetreworkshop

@@stephencave187 That is why I said 'might regret'. He can make up his own mind. But viewers deserve to hear other options, to suit their situations. It is my experience, in both my own workshop and a community 'shop, that re-alignment of a bandsaw is virtually essential. Mobile machinery is rarely a matter of regret.

make a standalone cart on wheels for the bandsaw so you can wheel it out for longer bits, then wheel it back into its "docking point"

i think i would have preferred to attach the bottom ends of the legs to the wall, forming diagonal braces, so the legs don't get in the way of my feet or in the way of anything i store under the table.
I absolutely love watching your videos Stuart - another great job! Sadly I only have a 6ft by 8ft shed but have cramed in so much into that tiny space and it also means I need to be super organised and tidy as every time I want to do a job I need to maximise the space. Your low shelf for your band-saw is a lot better (and probably safer) than my option of clamping it to a stool - but I can still take inspiration from your videos 🙂 I saw the mugs in the background - how do people get hold of these - do you have a shopfront?

how do you find the rage 5s table saw, had mine about 3months very happy with it, am having one issue with fence never locks on square back end in always closer to the blade. its the fence not saw blade does it when lining up to mitre slots as well. wondering if have had anything similar issues with yours.
What was the metal guide you were running the circular against - that looked like a useful bit of equipment.

You have obviously missed the times when Stuart has divulged his previous employment as an engineer. If anything, he over engineers things, so your opinion that it is too weak is wrong. You also go on about pressure treated timber or galvanised washers when fixing the timber to brickwork, I don't see any evidence of either practice when joiners are fitting door frames and so on in new builds. What would the point be in doing so on internal brick or block work?
