I don't have a house, I'm not going to build a door. I just searched last week for a short simple video explaining how to install a washing machine (and realised how bloody easy it was) and am now enjoying all these videos! Great stuff.

Stuart! Just found your channel (through the magic of YT's algorithms) about 4 or 5 days ago. I've now watched around 20 or 25 of your videos (and counting...). THIS one is the most labor-intensive I've seen, to date. As you lamented your lack of a table saw, I very much felt your pain. YES-- such a tool would have shaved many hours of toil and fiddling off the work you had to do. Yet, still, you managed to get the thing done-- fitting perfectly-- all whilst working in a cold workshop. Gotta say, my dude, you put to shame any amount of effort into ANYTHING I have ever done.. IN MY LIFE! This was EPIC, fabulous and humbling to watch.

Thank you very much. I remember thinking when I was filming the door build whether I would ever get to the end of it - and, as you say if was freezing in the workshop. My wife thought I was mad!

I've recently discovered your channel, watched your "drilling through steel" and "mortise and tenon door" videos and just wanted to congratulate you on the content of your videos and on their production value. I've been watching woodworking channels like "Wood working for mear mortals" and Jimmy Diresta for several years now and must say your camera work and editing skills easily match theirs. You explain what you're doing and why you're doing it very well, coupled with your natural on screen presence makes for engaging watching. Keep up the great work. Stuart, your work is beautiful, all too easy to produce these sort of products if you have every modern machine/gadget at hand but your methods without said machinery is inspirational and you should be very proud. I know a cabinet maker who thinks he’s wonderful but he has machinery and jigs to do every cut and joint, doesn’t impress me but you do. True craftsman 👍👏👏

Well thank you very much. However much I would like 'all the tools' this channel is aimed at the average DIY'er and as such I need to use the type of tools we all have kicking around - not the special ones we can't afford.

Bloody terrific door there mate Made my first barn door a couple of years ago and used a lot of similar techniques as you but I loved your in and out tongue and groove idea If I had time I'd do it again as by building one just the once I realised how much better it could have been My other half says I'm not well Great video

This is just what I needed as I have to make 4 garage doors exactly like this! Excellent video, very easy to follow.

I must admit that I didn't realise I had any tools from Wilco's until seeing it on video - it was the only one of the right width for the mortise I could find. Anyway, it certainly sharpened well.

Structure of these videos is as clear as the door construction!! So clear and easy to follow! Just looked back and couldn’t believe you’ve only been creating them for 6 months as they’re so well produced!

@@ProperDIY pleasure to watch! PS We have the same circular saw and find the 5Ah battery helps a lot here (looked like you were using the 2Ah). Really helps on long cuts in hard woods. I bought the big battery for the cordless grinder for car work.

I have the same circular saw, long cuts like this are transformed by going from a 2ah battery to a 5ah battery 🔋. Great videos!

I'm a carpenter and joiner and have been for 40 years. It's interesting to see how much I learn from your videos. The normal way to make mortice and tenon joints for a projects like this is to 'haunch' the mortice and tenon joint but you didn't do that and to be honest your method is way easier and more effective.

Proper DIY oh I reckon I would I've had it myself n even had to repair the wooden handle of the chisel as a consequence lol I still have chisels from 30 years ago which I mistreated I keep them sharp and they're still fully functional 👍👍 I've even treated myself to mr unwind chisels and used a hammer I guess I'll learn one day lol a little sand paper or glass paper if folks prefer and a file to clean up the odd burr and on you go hee hee proper job 👍

You do very nice work and your videos do a good job explaining how and why you are doing things. You seem to really want a table saw and while it doesn't matter, I give you my permission to get yourself one....but you have to use your own money 😃

You could have used expanding foam band around the frame, to seal it to the building. Nice Door.

Thank you very much. The nail gun is an electric Tacwise for around £70 but I wouldn't recommend it. It decides itself how deep it will pin nails and sometimes leave them sticking out. I would suggest going for a cheap air compressor nail gun set from Machine Mart - I will be soon.

Really straightforward delivery on how to remove the bricks safely and install a door. I now feel confident I would be able to install a door on the side of my garage. How much did it cost to hire the large petrol saw for a day?

You're a very talented improviser. But how much easier if you had a table saw for the rebates and a domino for the loose tenons. Forming rebates with a router is an absolute pain.

Nice video-I’ve just got the exact same frame and had to reduce the height to fit the opening in my garage. I need to build a door to fit so might use your method, but how do you fix the diagonal braces? You didn’t explain that bit.... cheers!

Thanks. I cut diagonals very tight and essentially forced them into place together with some glue. As I have cladding on both sides of them (so nowhere to go) I didn't think I really needed a proper fixed connection.

Proper tidy job. But....just get yourself a friggin tablesaw! Just not a Einhell one...they're proper sh*te. Buying a table saw is like buying your first impact driver: you'll wonder how you ever got by without one.
