It cannot implode based on how the US voting system is structured. Our democracy is based around plurality, or “winner-takes-all” where only one representative represents a whole voting district or area. This type of voting naturally devolves into a two-party system because it forces smaller 3rd parties to absorb into a larger party just so their ideals can be represented on the ballot. The very best that can happen is that a 3rd party switches with one of the major parties and becomes the new major party in the two-party system. But then, we’d still be back to square one as that new major party would devolve into the same political schema. We’d need to literally amend the Constitution to base voting around proportional voting blocks, where multiple people represent one voting district like they do in other democracies. But that’s such a difficult thing to accomplish, that it’s probably never going to happen. The implosion of the two-party system would mean the implosion of US democracy, period. So the best we can do is vote for the major party that best represents our ideals, which is why I always vote Democrat.

About five years ago, I realized I have been fooled by both parties for over 20 years . I had already opted out of elections for the last five years because I finally realized that no matter how I voted, workers got screwed regardless of who was in power. The ones who always benefit from the elections are those in power while workers suffer. We need to save our country and ourselves from republican authoritarian party suppression and oppression. They’ve already taken away our rights with abortion ban, wanting to rule instead of governing, forcing their insane religious beliefs on us, promoting violence, guns and fear. For the AmericanS who still believe in democracy, in equal rights, for women, children, people of color, LBGTQ… WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO OPTED OUT ELECTIONS. We need to work together to save ourselves and future generations from authoritarian rule. I’m not being fear monger but this is exactly what’s going in our country right now. Agreed. While I fully support West's campaign for 2024, I frankly sympathize with Steve Clemons on his chances of winning the White House. Be that as it may, I cannot for the life of me support either potential nominee knowing they are just going to perpetuate the very systems that West had critiqued in this interview.

It's very refreshing to see someone that has a deep understanding of what they're saying when they talk. Tired of shallow words that mean nothing.

Don't hate each other, hate injustice

Dr. West is the most dangerous person to the system. I would be concerned for his safety from so many different constituents if by some miracle he won. Demilitarizing America talk is dangerous to his health. Our government has a long history of getting rid of people like him in other countries. I don't put it past them doing it to our own. I just hope the media allows him to get his message out, not just on small platforms.

make "that" man a buffoon and clown. should be in a mental institution. west speak of this reparations? where are the reparations for all the victims of the black violent male criminal for the past 100+yrs. mr. west? FBI (2019) 16.410 homicides in the US 9,205 committed by african americans. 11% of the population conducting 60% of the homicides. we lost 2,996 persons on 9/11. the amount of person murder in 2019 by blacks WAS 3 times the number killed on 9/11/ and that statistic in just for 2019. (not 2020+ forward). west does not speak of that. no, left out of the "always" conversation. west is no better than "a" klansman in "reverse". preaching his hatred, discrimination and bigotry of another ethnic and race... and always finding "issues and problems" with our developed nation that he (mr. west) sits in happy, wealthy and fat. money, car, tenured position, ect. oh, how nice. but there is "always" something wrong with our nation. As an Orthodox Jew, what he said about Israel fills my heart with joy. Most of those Palestinians because they’re line goes so far back to the land are decedents of Jews wether they know it or not, and the situation of domination, instigation, and separation that has clouded our common humanity is wholly unnecessary. This is what change looks like.

Thank you for the great interview, and for your evident enthusiasm! With the mounting problems in both the Democratic and Republican Parties, 2024 is clearly the time for Dr. West's campaign. More and more people are simply done with the duopoly. We now know that neither major party cares at all about the American people. It is past time for big change. So let's all get to work to help make it happen!!!

“…to allow suffering to speak.” Oh my dear Brother West, you know and I know exactly how suffering “speaks”. It begets a “conversation” that many may describe as “unspeakable”. That’s not to say I’m not ready…but are you?

I agree with him on most things, especially dismantling the American empire - particularly the military bases in Korea, Japan, Germany, etc. But there's no way he'll be president. I don't know if this is the best way to move the needle.
