Corn Chowder - Creamy Corn Soup - 100 Year Old Recipe - The Hillbilly Kitchen
In this video I'll be making some good ol' fashioned Corn Soup. This is my granny's recipe from way back. It is a basic recipe there are tons of variations, so fix it up to suit your taste. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Thank you for setting me back on my way to God. I never stopped believing in God. But most other elements yes. It’s a hard journey but nothing was meant to be easy. Much love. Put God first. Yes. xxxxxxxxx
I love hearing your words. I'm 69 and it's hard to find a companion who believes in God and is a good person. Someone who is in drinking all the time or abusive or lazy or has no desire to do anything and definitely doesn't have money and wants the little you have or they think you want theirs. It's crazy out there for sure. I love watching you cook but I love your sharing your God our God with us all. Happy New Year. 🙏💗

Amen Mary, I’ve been a widow for 8 years. -I’ve finally decided if it’s in God’s will, he will send me a friend/companion. If not I’m perfectly fine enjoying my family and the friends I’ve had for years. I have no time for the drams, schemes and tall tales you run into.
"If you're not learning, you're not living." I like that! I am 50 years old this year and am just now learning how to cook, and YOU are my teacher! Thank you. I've been memorizing basic recipes and it feels so good to know how to make biscuits & gravy. Thank you.

I learn something new everyday, because a day that you don’t learn anything is a day of your life wasted. It’s not often big things, but always worth knowing.
When my oldest son (now 26) was in middle school, parents were asked to volunteer to make Colonial dishes to bring in for the class to taste as part of their History class. I made corn chowder and put it in a Crock Pot. I figured a bunch of middle school kids probably wouldn’t touch it. But surprise, the Crock Pot came home EMPTY! This recipe is almost the same as the one I used.
Mother would make a large pot of this often and sometimes with browned hamburger added. She always had biscuits, cornbread, or bread on the side. There were 11 children in the Family and every one loved it. Dad was a meat and potatoes man and He loved it.

I've loved corn chowder since I was a kid. Now I can make it!
Proverbs is full of wise saying that are important in life for your protection
Corn Chowder is my favorite soup! And thank you for looking up the definition of chowders! I didn’t know, either! We like our Corn Chowder with a lot of bacon! I like it crisp so we never put in the soup until we are ready to eat it. Add a little cheese, too. But I’ve never added sour cream. Might try that sometime! Thanks for a great video! And praying for Israel! Our SIL grew up Jewish but is now a believer! Praise God! ❤️🙏🏻
It's been many years since I left the Appalachia where I was raised. Received an Ivy League education and became a tenured professor at an elite institution. Along the way I never heard spoken the dialect of my native region, and I rinsed my own speech of it as I rose in my profession. God, how I love hearing you speak it. It sounds like home and family and belonging. I miss it so much.
My husband thinks he doesn't like celery, so when I make soup I put the celery in whole or as large as I can to fit in the pot. When its finished, I take tongs and remove the cooked pieces. Great flavor without having to eat the cooked celery.

My hub is due home in the next few hours. We’re both 72 now…married 52 years. It’s pretty chilly here this morning in north/central California..so I made this soup. Took about 35 minutes to get all the ingredients chopped/sautéed, seasoned and simmering. Thawed a loaf of good sourdough bread. The house smells so nice. This is gonna be a nice surprise and make hub very happy. Thank you Becky. You’re a lifesaver! Blessings, Marilyn…

I do the same kind of chowder but I live on the coast of Delaware. I steam clams and use the broth from them to add to the chowder and of course the clam meat with the same vegetables.. Corn and clam chowder

My husband recently passed away, I know he'd like watching this, and I also know he'd enjoy eating this. I wish he was still with me, I'd absolutely make this for him.
I got a chuckle listening þo you explain the difference between cream soup and chowder. Here in New Hampshire we say chowder. I agree with the use of evaporated milk. I only use it in my chowder. I love listening to you and love your cooking. Thank you.
Don't feel bad about not knowing anything. That means that you're learning. The smartest people will tell you that they don't know everything. The more you know the more you realize that there's so much more to learn. So you're in good company. I appreciate everything that you do.

Love you Becky❤️ thank you for being a sweet part of my life. I learned to cook for my grandmother. She was precious like you.
Your recipe is the same one my grandma from Canada used and passed down to us. Something really cool: I lived in Japan for 5 years and they make a pureed corn soup they sell in restaurants. It's made exactly the same as your recipe but of course they puree it so it's creamy and smooth. Absolutely yummy! The only thing we do differently is at the end of cooking we put in a little flour/water slurry (1 TB flour/2 TB water) and thicken the chowder. Thank you for sharing this and God bless you! Praying for all of us here today just because I love all of you.
My mama used to make this, it was one of my favorites! Never had a recipe though, so thank you for this😊

Thank you for this recipe. We were hit by the snow storm a few days ago and it’s so bitterly cold. So I thought this sounded good for supper. I added celery, doubled the carrots and only one cup of potatoes. Then I made your cornbread recipe and added half a cup of onions, quarter cup of jarred jalapeño’s chopped and a little over half cup of xtra sharp cheddar cheese. I dipped the cornbread into the chowder. Oh my goodness. It was to die for. Thanks again.
