Looking back on this, DC had to deal with a lot of bullshit during that rivalry, the amount of disrespect and the type of reactions from those crowds was unbelievable. Dude will always have my respect. He literally did everything he was supposed to do as a fighter inside and out of the octagon, and was still boo’ed and chastised. Anybody else in that position, in the division at that time, probably would’ve cracked.

Before the rivalry Jones was always going to be the fan favorite against DC, so boos were to be expected. There was 1 press conference where I honestly felt bad for DC. But in my opinion the hate against him increased drastically when he started Virtue Signaling and talking down to Jones because he’s an addict, hell even called him a junkie at a huge press event. Calling an addict in recovery a Junkie as a means of trash talk is one of the most classless things you can say to anyone. Somehow No one has ever been praised for mocking an addict and calling him a Junkie, the only person who looks bad is the person saying it not the actual addict. In my opinion people hate when athletes virtue signal, it was a terrible look for DC. Honestly I think that foreshadowed the reality that he may present hkmself as someone with great moral character, but then we saw how he gauged Stipe’s eyes multiple times INTENTIONALLY, in their 2nd fight, he was unapologetic. and then had the nerve to bring up being poked in their last fight. And of course the towel incidents That happened long ago, but he has begun acting very smuggly about towelgate, now has brags about itt and even laughs about getting away with it. He still would have fought and won, but he stole money from his opponent .

Looking back on this, DC had to deal with a lot of bullshit during that rivalry, the amount of disrespect and the type of reactions from those crowds was unbelievable.
Silva really saved it and honestly he had fun and that’s so good to say, he didn’t complain he just went out there and had fun
