Corgi Flynn Passing His Sheep Herding Instinct Exam
Flynn, an AKC Corgi, passes his herding instinct exam, Nov 2016
Some people think corgis are slow and cuddly but they actually have tons of energy and are very bossy/stubborn (as well as cuddly). Not all of them are natural farm helpers, but it's fun to watch the ones that figure it out. Enjoy!
Please note that the sheep are trained to handle the test and there is someone in the ring at all times ensuring the safety of both the dog and the sheep.

The cutest things to see. Corgi shepherding sheep. Haha
2:23 He's herding three, but when one gets separated, watch how his head whips to the left for a second, like "That wasn't supposed to happen."

Great first try!!! Way to go Flynn!! ❤️❤️
Not bad. Corgis are usually better at cattle driving. They're awesome cattle dogs.
Hard to believe that Corgis are cattle dogs.

Corgis are actually bred short specifically to avoid being kicked by cattle, and docked also to avoid farm hazards. So corgis are corgis precisely because they are cattle dogs.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Love my Corgi:-)
hearding mode engaged!!!
"The sheep are trained to handle the test"!? They have a little voice in their head saying, "Run away with the group"! The voice has been evolving for 20 million years.
My corgi mix loves to try and herd our lab and gnaw on her legs. I swear we need to get him a sheep so he knows what kind of animal he's actually supposed to chew on.
Thought #1 ... Mornin' Ralph! Mornin' Sam! Mornin' Flynn! Thought #2 ... Good Old Doggie Flynn will do some serious cat-napping after this workout!

Flynn is a very chaotic sheep herd i think ❤
One of our corgis had a five year old guest to our home afraid to walk around because she was herding her! I didn’t know she had it in her but she was definitely showing herding behavior.

My Belgian Mal was a street dog before i adopted him so he missed out on that early socialization. I'd be afraid of him catching up to a sheep and latching on.
Fascinating
Where is the herding instinct to knock everyone together??😁
Beautiful. 😂😂❤❤😊
Look at him go!!
Good boy!
I'm curious Has he received any herding training? or is this completely instinct? (I know what the title and description says, but he seems to be doing a pretty good job)
Awesome! 👍
She protec She attac But most importantly She herd the pack 🐶
magnificent
Did he pass?
Corgi isn't herding the sheep, only scaring them
This how my corgis play
why do the sheep run away from such little pet? Im just shocked they could herd.
Strong short feet...this reminds me of my cute elder sister who is short😄😍😍

@@Qartie, Do you understand the difference between tests and trials? This was probably a preliminary instinct test, not a herding test. In this case, the work of the dog with the herd is not provided. It's enough to collect the sheeps in a heap.
Sheep dont work well with corgis
This looked like a failure? He wasn't exactly herding them in any direction and his split up the sheeps more than gathered them?
@Alexandr-pp6yf

@hannag4768

My thoughts exactly. He was just chasing them, not herding them. He split them constantly (which a dog with good herding instinct won't do) and then went off and chased the sheep who split off- not to get it back with the rest, it was just jos hunting instinct kicking in, making the seperated sheep get further away from the flock. There's a difference between a dog chasing and a dog herding. This was chasing. He can probably be trained and shaped into herding, but I would hardly consider this dog good prospect when there's dogs who do better with the same conditions.
