    @@TheFangirlWatches Fangirl, "Nothing is accidental in a stop motion movie like Coraline." Exactly! That includes this proof that the "cat" is posessing and controlling the beldam: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJNpmNiCe5avmpc.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/oK5h17qxZLC_d7A.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/mp5nmZd6ocqqYLA.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKR81bmCeK-dZKg.html If you pause it after Coraline kicked the beldam in the face, brighten the image and look at it frame by frame you can see a cat's eye and nose inside the beldam's cracked "skull", the black cat is posessing and controlling the beldam and he's been manipulating Coraline from the beginning. See more here: kzread.info/head/PLzG_3q50DuPnorgp2Fhr7Qyp2P70Qrjtv kzread.info/head/PLzG_3q50DuPmcrFLZjCNySF4-e4ZST7n- Watch the rest of the two playlists I sent you (every single video), it'll tell you all about what's actually going on in "Coraline". Here's a summary though: The "cat" is not nice and he's not a "good guy". He's anything but "nice". The cat is cruel and manipulative with Coraline and she's so blind that she can't even see that he's luring her into a trap and that he's toying with her (she's so naive that she tells the other mother "I brought a friend" because she's too blind to see that the cat is manipulating her and pretending to be her friend to get her attention off of him and on to the beldam and lure her into a false sense of security when she's around him). The beldam hates the "cat", calls him "Vermin" and cannot escape him because he is the other world and he is everywhere all around her, that's why he knows the location of all the portals, that's why he cruelly laughs and asked Coraline how she TASTES (he feeds on his preys' soul-energies) and said with an evil twinkle in his eye "you think this world is a dream come true... but you are wrong" (he would know since HE is the physical embodiment of the other world, a sentient and vampiric eldritch abomination plane of existence that demands what it lacks, life, and he feeds on his preys' soul-energies, feeding the beldam so he can be fed), that's why he lured her into a trap, lured her back to the other world into the beldam's clutches by showing her the parents' dolls under the bed and the illusion in the mirror, that's why he said that toying with a prey is fun because giving it a chance to escape makes the game more challenging and exciting which is exactly what he's doing to Coraline and she's too naive to see that he's manipulating her and toying with her, etc) , he even disappeared in the tunnel just before Coraline saw the beldam disguised as Mel Jones with normal eyes and reappear a little bit later after she fell into the trap. The black cat is the physical embodiment of the evil other world, a whole sapient vampiric eldritch abomination plane of existence that feeds on the spirit-energies of his victims (he pretends to be the children's friend/ally and then he feeds on them through the beldam and devours them) and he's obviously some kind of millions-of-years-old demon/fallen angel (also the original novels describes the other world as a whole living entity far older than the beldam). The book (by Neil Gaiman) makes it a lot more clear but the Other Mother is just a parasitic creature living in the throat of the TRUE MONSTER. As the book goes on you hear more references to SOMETHING STRONGER (something "very old/ancient and very slow" at that time but it's getting STRONGER), and eventually it begins to WAKE UP as coraline "escapes". The Other World (including his portals, like the one used by Coraline) is an ancient and evil entity and a parasitic eldritch abomination plane of existence that drains the life of all who enters it, his physical embodiment appears in the form of a "cat". The corridor/tunnel/portal is the "cat" 's throat and the well with "it's sky full of stars" where the Beldam sent the doll floating at the beginning of the movie is another portal and the "cat" 's esophagus, taking a portal/tunnel to the Other Well is to go straight into the belly of the (demonic) beast. The reason the "cat" has no "real name" is because he's so ancient that humans have forgotten what he is and what he was called and because giving away his "real name" would give others power over him. But of course he lies about that and claims to be just a dumb cat and that he thinks that cats "don't need" names. Watch The Theorizer's Coraline theory series, especially part 9 through 13... Mimi.

    Oh this is fascinating! I never knew that there could've been any connections between funerals and the doll scene. It definitely makes me rethink the entire film. This theory or idea also makes sense if you consider the Beldam to have abilities such as foresight or divination magic. I mean divination magic is already in the film, so having her know when to make the dolls and prep them makes a whole lot of sense.

    Something I didn’t point out this time (but I think I did before when I mentioned the Beldam seeing into the future as a possibility) is that everything in that room is COVERED in thick dust and spiderwebs. That sewing machine hasn’t been used in probably decades, and it’s a very old style machine, and that just adds to all the time-related questions I have about the opening scene.

    I've always wondered after the Beldam sews in the button eyes, what does she do with the children? I was reading the wiki pages of the Beldam recently... and they all seem to imply that the Beldam loves/takes care of the children until she gets bored with them. So what if she feeds off their love for her and then traps them in that closet area until they die...? And after their death she feasts off their souls that are forever trapped there. (Which ties in the "eyes are the mirror of the soul" of how she takes their eyes and sews the buttons, forever trapping them in the other world.) WHICH ALSO (lol) would explain why the Beldam would rather sew the buttons onto Coraline because it will trap her there. If she's still in the limbo with her eyes she can still escape.

    One thing that I don’t might be helpful is, when you were questioning if the beldam can predict the future since she made the doll and have it ready for her. According to the movie it didn’t take her that long to make it. And the amount of the time coralline was roaming around and come back home. I think those might at least 2-3 hours between the time she started coming into the house and roaming around. So, I would say it’s enough for the beldam to make a doll of her. The scene in the beginning might be during that time since it didn’t specifies in the movie. Also, since the beldam has power she can make the sky looks a certain way if she wants to and from the look of it she looks like a night person. Therefore, the sky was giving off the impression that it’s night time although, it could be very much be during the daytime

    OMG so excited to see a new Coraline video from you! This is super fascinating stuff. Maybe it ties in somehow with the car accident and your previous theory about whether Coraline is dying. Is the beldam waiting for the whole Jones family to die to claim their souls and if so, is the pink palace actually some kind of spiritual limbo that actually means all three are in some kind of coma? They do all look kind of sickly in colour, even if they're not bright blue like Bobinsky! Another unrelated series of thoughts I had about the film recently: Since fairy lore involves changelings, surely there has to be some connection between the idea of changelings and the fact that Wybie's grandmother is a twin. Maybe they were never really twins, but a human and a changeling? This needs a lot of thinking through, but how might this idea bring new insights to the behaviour of Wybie's grandmother or the beldam herself? Did the changeling make a pact with Wybie's grandmother so that they both ended up in the same reality, attempting to escape the beldam together in a way that must've backfired later? Similarly, I wonder, are all the kids already, unknown to themselves, the beldam's changelings that she is attempting to reclaim after the real stolen kids died? This might explain the negligence of Coraline's "real" parents since myths (ignoring postnatal depression, of course) suggest that parents do not warm to their own children if they are changelings. Who knows...? 😅

    I'm thinking the Beldam just uses mimicry to create forms of those who are long term residents. Adds more to the realism for the children she devours if more people they readily know are present. I also think Theorizer's theory that the Beldam uses less material for those dolls(hence why they crumble away so easily and soon), is proven right by that scene thanks to the mini dolls we see. As for why she has a form for Wybie, that's probably because the Grandma may have been forced to partially raise him at the Pink Palace for a time. Or it could be their proximity, Wybie constantly hanging out by the well, or the fact that Granny was a long term resident just got passed onto Wybie somehow. Any number of things could explain this. I point these things out, because the Beldam reminds me eerily of a lot of different Fae stories. Particularly surrounding those of Changelings. Course those don't line up exactly, but it is very close. It wouldn’t be the first story about Fae that use mimicry to trick others. Pooka/Puca is another kind of Fae that can do this, which is something it was feared for. Course we do have american mythology too to consider....but I only know 2 creatures that can mimic things. And those CERTAINLY ARE NOT FAE(NOR ARE THEY DEITIES JUST IN CASE WE GOT YOUNG WITCHES LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.). I will NOT share their names however, as it is far from wise, especially on nights like Halloween where spirits are paying close attention. Just know they're both Native American in origin, just different regions. They also have the initials of W & S, this is one of the only safest ways to refer to them without putting a beacon on yourself.

Lovette was the one with the doll and her sister both went to the other world and Mrs. Lovette sister ended up sacrificing herself and that traumatized Mrs. Lovette and that’s why she doesn’t want any of her family near the pink palace( to where she’s so strict about it) , it seems like it’s low of evidence but I would like to hear what you think about it 😊

    I have three questions and one thought: 1. Why does the little door even have a lock in the first place? The beldam can clearly brick the wall up when she wants to. I guessed Mrs. Lovat put in the lock there but it's on the other side of the tunnel too, both using the same key. 2. If the other world residents are made with help of stuff stolen from them, (other Spink and Forcible from their candy, other dad from pumpkin seeds we see on kitchen window, etc), what would other Wybie be made with help of? 3. If there are cat-sized portals around the Beldam's world, what's stopping her from sending one of her metal hands through? Maybe she's already doing that. Thought: I've always assumed part of the reason she wants to sew the buttons is that if the child can't see, she barely even has to "make" a whole room at a time. The child wouldn't be able to tell the differnce. As long a the part they're interacting with is currently there they wouldn't know that the rest of the room wasn't. I don't expect them all to be answered or anything, just wanted to share. Loved the video! and love that my fanart was in the end haha

    ya know, i always thought if i were coraline, i'd try to talk to the beldam. it's kinda wild that coraline finds this extra-dimensional entity with the power to create entire worlds and just...doesn't have a single question about any of it. i'm not even saying that she should necessarily be immediately untrusting, as she isn't really given a reason to be for quite a while. but wouldn't anyone at least be curious from a...scientific angle, for lack of a better word? like. when this entity comes to me and seems willing to do anything i want, the first thing i'm saying i want is a long, philosophical/scientific discussion about what she is and what she wants. lol. something like: " alright, that was a nice dinner. but pull up a chair, mom. your mere existence has made me question all of my beliefs and outlooks in life. if you like making me happy, then make me happy by sating my curiosity. what are you? where did you come from? how do you make these things, precisely? do you create matter itself, or have you built this world from materials you gathered? since you brought me to this place, i assume you're trapped here? maybe i can help." whether she tells the truth or not, there's a lot to be learned from her responses. or maybe i'm just a big nerd lmao. i'm curious to hear your thoughts though! does anyone else agree coraline's immediate, complete lack of curiosity about the whole situation to be strange?

    Let’s say the beldam keeps all the children in a world where she slowly feasts on them until the next child comes into the pink palace! The difference between the candies in Spink/forcible apartment only has 10-30 years in between them(if those truly represent each ghost child)- so maybe she feasts for however long it takes the next victim to come, because if they were just children they wouldn't pass away from old age in only 10-30 years! So maybe when they ghosts say "ate up our lives" they don't mean literally. If your being poetic “ate” could have many meanings - we don’t know if it’s a immediate death sentence once the buttons are sewn- maybe it gives the Beldam the chance to use less magic because the children can’t see and then they can be given the basic needs to survive (if that) she could conserve her magic /be her true form and still be loved , that being said they could mean wasted/inhabited/invaded their lives and ate upon the love they gave the other mother! Also in the sewing room, if those tools aren't sewing tools and they are embalming/morgue tools. Notice how in the starting scene, it's not like making a regular doll- it's the preparation for an autopsy ( clothes being cut off back, mouth sewn shut, eyes sewn shut ) possibly implying the usage of the Sweet Ghost Girls soul is no longer needed, and now in preparation for Coraline!! Coraline isn’t dead yet, but the beldam is preparing for Coraline to die . 🤭🤭🤭 just a theory hehe

  • @noelialynn8714

    @noelialynn8714

    And what I meant by “if that” when being given basic needs, since they can’t see they don’t truly know what they are eating or doing . If the other mother says” I’m giving you noodles!”, and the other mother just loves bugs - who says it can’t be worms- or if she went and got you some expensive coco chocolates from Zanzibar - maybe they really are beetles! But the children couldn’t see that’s so they truly thought they were getting treats. “ she said that she loved us, but she locked us here ( in the other world) and ate up our lives “ took the time in raising them, in her weird ”motherly“ way and then when she didn’t need them - she “retired” their souls.

    It's fantastic how more and more details are uncovered, but I still can't explain how does the other mother gets the doll from wybie's grandma to change its appearnce. I mean she might have used her rats but how and when and did wybie's grandma notice that the doll is different?

    I have watched a lot of Coraline theories and I haven’t seen someone mention this yet, or if they have I cannot remember so please let me know if you’ve talked about this before. So we know that the beldam can shape-shift and we assume that she took the forms of the ghost-kids parents when she was trying to take them, like she did with Coraline’s mother. So why does the beldams true form, the spider one, still look so much like Mel Jones? Shouldn’t she have a completely different face?

    Coraline is making a comeback in theaters later this month in Anchorage. Is it coming back to theaters anywhere else?

    Did you have any lingering questions on Jumanji? I might be able to cover it as a retrospective, but I never really thought of much to say about the movies as a theory.
