Greta Garbo is seen in the party scene. Lisa looks like a 1920s flapper. Her hair is not egyptian. Nothing about her look is egyptian. Egyptology was big in the 1920s. She must have been old enough to have had her own looks stopped in the 1920s. Her age dont add up. I feel like she must have learned about the elixir in the 1920s. She could be an alchemist like the Count of St Germain, who was a 18th century alchemist who may have discovered the secret to immortality.

I hear you on the why not have a female gorgonite and all, however as this movie was very much aimed towards young boys as the "action figure" usually is. Its not surprising, as merch is a massive part of this as well. kenner didn't make one disfigured legally not bardbie. because as the saying goes, young boys aren't as likely to want to play with a toy of a girl. (Se every toyline based on a cartoon) This is all very calculated.

Hey Fan Girl... I loved your narrative about Lisle... I'm also obsessed with this movie and Lisle too. Recently I saw some behind the scenes with scripts and outtakes and they mentioned that LISLE LIED ABOUT HER AGE.. Her actual true age was 600+ years old. The out take scripts mention Lisle offering the potion to Lincoln Shakespeare and a few others who denied it.... Anyhow just an interesting FYI about her Thanks for your interesting narrative ...LOVED IT❤❤.

I think that Gaston's a narcissist. He doesn't want Belle for *Belle*; he wants her because he wants her to worship him like the rest of the village does. He wants what he can't have.

How can you make ANY movie that does not include the culture of the ethnicities of the characters? People complain that white movies are full of white culture. And period pieces include the culture of their periods.

Joel Chandler Harris recorded these stories to preserve the unique culture of the African Americans. Is it more racist than Alice in Wonderland being a British Story? The Little Mermaid being a Danish story? Snow White being a German Story? Cinderella being a French story? An American Tale being a Jewish story?

I think the bird is a spy for the black cat. I'm still of the opinion that the black cat and the beldam are not the same person and have a rivalry going on. I mentioned it in another comment. I think the bird was used to tell when Coraline would be alone. Which is why the other mother came personally to pick Coraline up instead of trusting other Wybie to bring her back. The bird disappears as soon as the beldam shows up. As if it were something that was not supposed to be there in the first place. I interpreted the nose near touch as a power play. The beldam speeds behind Coraline and then nearly touches her but refrains. After she lets her go to bed. That scene read to me as: I'm bigger than you, faster than you, and I can hurt you. You won't be able to run away from me. I chose not to touch you, but you saw how close I can get. Now I'm allowing you to go to bed in my world. Good night, daughter. It is a scary and badass flex scene. It implies she doesn't need consent but is humoring Coraline by playing along. As intelligent predators will sometimes do with prey. We all know the beldam loves her games.

Honestly it is fair to think he was a villain in certain lights. But he does show more heroic traits than anything else. Sure he is an asshole but if anyone who ever met a cat feels like they would all act and sound like that if they could talk. They just kinda do what they want. Cats are usually only genuinely mean if the care giver. Take Wybie for example up until Coraline showed up atleast. He is definitely weird and off putting at first but in the end helps Coraline. The cat gives me anti hero vibes. Kinda sounds like you hate cats too no offense

Demona had her love taken since she ran away from the raid on the before dawn came and when she saw all the Wvern clan slaughtered and when she saw Goliath coming back after the sun set and ran away thinking he won't be happy. But had she stayed she would have gone with Goliath and the rest to the Vikings camp to get the one responsible for the massacre and the former friend and probably kill them before they both fall of ledge of the cliff and Goliath would still rescued the Princess, but Demona would try to kill Princess Katherine since after the first Viking attack and being looked down as monsters not equals, but Goliath will stop her and might even kill Magus after seeing the others turned to stone at night since she and Magus were Archmage apprentice/pupil. But she made her decision to run away and didn’t own up to her fault and everything

Taffy Spink and Forcible have black button eyes and Other Spink and Forcible have white button eyes. But Young Other Spink and Forcible have black button eyes. Taffy Spink and Forcible are also the younger versions of them. Could the white button eyes be symbolic of a loss of eye sight as both real Spink and Forcible have also got the faded milky eyes that suggest diminished sight?

For context, most of the advice comes from Old theater superstitions. It was considered bad luck to whistle in an empty theater because old backstage workers used to communicate via whistling. The rule about never wearing green in your dressing room is a holdover from the Victorian era when a lot of people got poisoned by green dye that was made with arsenic. The total step ladder is so you don't fall. In the book, some of the rooms have green wallpaper in the other world, which is how the majority of the people got poisoned from arsenic from the green dye.

In older houses like this, even when this movie was made, it was still pretty common to have poisonous paint or wallpaper. It's still an issue in slumlord houses.

I think the eye tapping was somehow the biggest clue. I don't know why. The film starts with a hand made of sewing needles, and a bunch of sewing motions and buttons. It's the most important part of the film. I just don't understand it.

It would be interesting if this story is an example of what happens when children die. They’re unaware of their death and instead go through some kind of fever dream adventure where they get to face danger and overcome it. This introduces them to the oddities of the Spirit World but also helps them discover how strong and brave they are so it’s not so scary. After a few more adventures, when they’re ready, they piece together that they are in the After World. It still hurts, but it’s much more manageable than the trauma of realizing all that the moment they die and then having to navigate a terrifying new world all alone.

The parents could have multiple pairs of the same clothes if they were really cheap, possibly in a set. They do seem to be struggling with money. Although that wouldn't explain the extra glasses since those tend to be a bit pricey

Wait if Pennywise or “IT” and the Beldam or the “Other mother” are a similar species or even related does that explain why the Other Mother scared Coraline to sure get her trapped in the limbo world but also because to get the fear from Coraline while she is waiting to get the love from Coraline as she believes that everyone is her friend(s) family and neighbours and the love from all of them could go to the Other Mother?

I have always suspected thay taffy Forcible and Spink were not the same Forcible and Spink we see previously. I also then countered that with thinking about how the two shed their "real-world" forms for their other world bodies (further reinforcing that the other world is its own realm in Coraline's mind). The taffy beings are their more twisted versions to fit the game.

I think that it’s been decades since the bedlam had a meal (the grandmother is an old lady now and was a little kid when her sister went missing) so what ever she feeds on she’d be starving and probably running low on magic. I think that’s why everything turns grey because she’s borrowing the soul magic to power each part of the other world since she doesn’t have the magic reserves herself. It’s also possible that some of her creations / puppets have souls in them to power them hence the reason that the other father and possibly wybie try and help Coraline at times which is against the bedlam’s wishes. I think if the other father is powered by a soul it could be the soul of a father of one of the bedlam’s victims that found a way into the other world and went looking for his child. Alternatively both creations could even have a previous child’s soul (or part of one) and that’s why their personality’s are inconsistent not because they are directly controlled by the bedlam but psychologically the children would be scared of her and worried what she might do to them or their families (they might not know how much time has passed since they were taken) if they don’t obey her so they mostly do what she says but when they are alone with Coraline that’s when their true nature comes out and that’s why the other father tries to warn Coraline and doesn’t want to hurt her and why wybie tries to free her!
