The KZreadr tppo also did a Mika Pikazo art study last year! Its really neat to see the different take aways you guys got from her style! Another one I would recommend a study of would be Rella, she has some crazy uses of lighting, you know its her if you find a beautifully lit piece of a vocaloid or evangelion character. Oh! And as long as it doesn't cause you troubles with copyright (please don't risk it if it does) would it be possible for future study times about, say, big IPs or video game styles? Like, what makes the mass effect style different from its competition like halo for example. Probably a lot to ask for, but I just wanted to throw some ideas at the board and see if it helps. I hope to one day pick up your art school program! I can't buy it right now, but its definitely a long term goal to get it one day!

I was gonna say give it 10-15 years and even her will be replaced, but honestly even if AI gets perfect in terms of execution, she will probably still be able to rival it. We've reached a point where I think great artists can draw anything because we have all the technology to do so, and this is excluding AI. The only thing AI art will do is give a platform to creative people who have the vision but suck at drawing. This artist has both. The only way AI art will replace humans is if it starts thinking exactly like a human or even better, and at that point we'll probably be worried about things other than AI art generations so it's pointless to worry about it now. Personally I'm one of the people who has ideas but can't draw at all, and I like creating some AI pieces that look nice and unique.

@@hocuspocus9713i suck at drawing but i dont think we really need to get discouraged by an AI because even if AI could draw really really good, the result will be 'boring' to look at, example my fav illustrator watanabe tomari, the ai could replicate her 'style' and the result is decent but because the AI dont know what the thought process behind why the artist make a stroke here Or why the artist use this color pallete instead of that, the result even though is decent cant replace the original style, so even if your drawing arent that good when comparing to AI but if you can make your art 'style' distinct enough, AI cant beat you even if they do it in your own 'style'

@@Cytryz that’s also true. But we don’t know how she did it in the first place. She come up with that style by trial and error or she merged a lot of knowledge from other artists? Or she adapted her style based on someone’s else? The fact that Marc could actually break it the down by studying and testing a lot of things is pretty incredible to me, I wouldn’t have such patience or even some of the skills to do it. People who watch tutorials are probably more towards the beginner side, so it'll probably not do as well in terms of numbers as some other videos, but I hope you still do these from time to time... This was definitely one of my favorite videos from you in recent times, probably because I've been drawing (and watching this channel) for a few years already, you kind of already know most of the basic stuff in tutorial videos, so this is a great change of pace.

It's fascinating to me how you were able to process all this stuff and reverse-engineer it even as a seasoned vet. It's also fascinating to me how Mika Pikazo figured this stuff out all on her own. I heard somewhere that due to how the Japanese language is structured, it changes the way the brain works in some amazing ways. There might be some truth to that because on the flip side as a slav when I look at my brain's modus operandi, the words "It Just Works" come to mind... And on that note, thanks for dumbing things down to a digestible level. 😁

This is amazing! Thanks for the art secrets. I’m stunned you figured out the last one with the smudging. It would have never guessed on my own. Pretty innovative and effective technique.

I'm not an artist myself, but I'd always wondered about what Mika was doing to create such a unique style. The second shading pass in particular was really wild! Thanks for doing this deep dive.

Great video Marc! I used to do a lot of studies to learn fundamentals and then just stopped.. Seeing you still do this to learn different styles inspired me to keep studying. There's always more to learn.

Marc, you're my savior!! I LOVE videos like these and I'd really like to see you break down how Wenjun Lin do color and value. They're like really bright and highly saturated, yet it's still really beautiful! Thank you 💕💕
