LOL @ "this time". This reminds me of the time I heard Troy Aikman getting checked out on my police scanner. I heard a deputy call in a tag number to the sheriff's office and ask them to run it. When the dispatcher read it back, it was for Troy Aikman. The dispatcher read it back like he couldn't believe what he was seeing, reading it like he was asking "could it be THE Troy Aikman". I assumed it was, considering the address was in Irving, TX. And this happened in Pittsburg Count, OK, which is on the way to Henrietta, OK from Irving. The deputy replied back, "He's got a lead foot", but I don't know if he was actually pulled over or not. Nothing more was said about it. This happened in 1996 or '97, I can't recall exactly when.

The next time you talk to Holliday, will you please beg him to be our hitting coach!?

Yeah, OK cops are like that. A friend and I carpooled home from college for Christmas, and a speed trap in McAlester caught me after the limit dropped without me noticing. The cop took me back to his car to separate me from my friend and said he smelled weed. At the time,I didn't know what weed smells like, so I started to distrust my friend. The cop and his backup ended up searching my car after saying they didn't need consent to do so and found absolutely nothing. I guess 2 young or middle-aged men + out-of-state license plate + luggage = definitely drug smugglers to the Oklahoma police force, who apparently can't understand a couple of buddies taking a road trip together. It's been over five years since it happened, and it still pisses me off whenever I think about it.
