Copenhagen travel diary | Food & sights, castles, visiting Sweden

Hi friends! I visited Copenhagen, Denmark, for the first time and vlogged the experience for memories. I hope you enjoy exploring the city with me. I don't speak Danish and am trying my best here with pronunciation.

You can easily make your own smørrebrød. We Danes do it nearly every day at home. Your pronounce of Vesterbro and Nyhavn was spot on. Not many foreigners do that, well done. I have the feeling you are very open-minded, keep on to that, your life will be much more rich. Advice from an 62-year young man. Try Denmark in the summer period, mid-June to early August. Have fun

@@roamwithdory Uhh, that's a tricky one. It can be very cold and rainy, or it could be nice and sunny, but without summer temperature. From Bing AI: The average temperature in Copenhagen, Denmark during the FIRST week of April is around 6°C (43°F) 1. The average high temperature during this time is 10°C (50°F), while the average low temperature is 2°C (36°F).

@@roamwithdory People often forget we have a lot of coast, so the wind is always here. Even with 10 above freeze, it can feel very cold, if it is very windy. So a jacket that protect you against the wind would be a good idea. Fun fact: In Denmark, you are never more than 55 km (34 miles) from the sea.

And we are the main Michelin Star area in the North, also formerly with the Best Restaurant in the World, NOMA, meaning Nordic Food! Several Danish Chefs have been voted best in the World, during Bocuse d'Or Contests in France!

I wish I could guarantee you better weather during the Summer...but e.g. _this_ year - 2023 - the Summer was awful. It was wet, windy and not _much_ warmer than when you were here. When Mother Nature shows Denmark from her nicer side, it's really nice! Thank you for your posting, and I'm so glad you had an enjoyable time. I hope you come back 😊👍

The danes can be loud too on soccer games, with beer and other alcohol they get louder too😅😂 Typical danish in the spring and summer when sun comes out is to have barbeques in their own gardens or in a park or public familypark. Also in activity parks there are big barbeque/grill areas with benches and tables where families and everyone can grill their food or eat lunch or dinner that they brought with them. Danes go on lots of picknicks and bring their own food and drinks. The danes loves good food and drinks. They are a very layd back , nice and good humoured nation. Great food ,chocolate, icecream and candy. Great beer and beaches , towns, countryside and amusement parks. MANY OF THEM 😊

And there is no bad weather, just bad clothing for it. And it isn't a River, it's the former Copenhagen Harbor. Americans are known to be very LOUD! The mounted Statue in the middle of Amalienborg Castle is considered one of the finest in the world, made by a French Sculptor, Jaques Saly, and donated as a gift to the King, and it became absurdly expensive before being finished. But even the harness on top of the horse head are extremely well made! The original statue, before being cast from Bronze. is to be seen in a major Collection near the War Museum, also known for its extreme collections of weapons, collected by mostly the Army for testing. And never being plundered, so its collections is finer than the Factories own. It is also being given free samples of new weapons from many Factories, like Heckler and Koch. When at Frederiksborg Castle you should have looked to the other side also, with an extreme garden, made like from the time!

Hi! Paying for a Copenhagen card (basically a city pass) covered my entry into the attractions I went to. Still, it's required to book a time slot for certain things covered by the card, like Rosenborg Castle. Outside of the Copenhagen card, I booked transportation to the airport for when we were leaving, and that was incredibly helpful (peace of mind and less hassle). I didn't make reservations for any restaurants, but I'd highly suggest doing so for Baest if you wanna go there.

H.C.Andersen had his only home in a rented room on top of Nyhavn. He became what may be compared to a Billionaire in his lifetime, because of a trusted Family Member taking care of his rights, so it wasn't because he couldn't afford one! But he also travelled all over Europe in a time with mostly horse carriages.
