"The legal way"....The legal way is WHAT THEY WANT. The system is the problem. Stop perpetuating the system, the ONLY way for us "fight back" is to DEFEND OURSELVES! They WANT you to go to court, They WANT you perpetuating the system and adding to their coffers, filling thier pocket and the CONTINUATION of the same bad behavior because of the revenue. "The legal way" DOES NOT WORK

What are your thoughts on term limits for police officers. Hear me out. The longer someone is in perceived authority the more it goes to their heads. One way to help allow that down is to set the amount of time they can actually hold "power". I think team limits for political offices should always be a thing and I'm starting to think maybe for police officers as well.

Police corruption is very real and also extremely dangerous. I can plainly see from my own experiences what folk sometimes go through when interacting with certain police. Back in 1972 when I was 17, I was crossing the grass from a freeway exit I was dropped off on. I saw a police car approach me rapidly and a rather stout and angry police man confronted me. I had to empty my pack on the side walk as he tore through my simple belongings asking me angrily, "wheres the dope?" over and over. He then had backup and I could see that he was going to try and push me as hard as he could. He wanted a full confession and he wanted it now. I said" its ...in my car sir." and he went nuts even more. "where ya parked kid?" I opened a small pocket on the pack he had over looked and took out a match box collectible I had on me, a fancy one that had a hood that opened and doors. He peered into the toy and said "where the fuck is the dope???" I grinned and said as cool as I could.."in the glove box." Danged if he didnt try and look in the glove box lol. I then asked him "why are you hassling me sir?" He then told me he had seem me jumping around in the grass. As I thought this over I realized that he had actually seen me reacting as a bee stung me on my bare foot... I told him he was not smart and he looked embarrassed as he and back up decided that another call was much more pressing. I laughed for a while then and to this day I enjoy repeating what happened. It was going south fast but my explanation and swollen ankle stopped the charade he had attempted. While I don't recommend such antics as i pulled with the toy car when he insisted I was a criminal (no hair cut, homeless} It was effective and i imagine he learned to do a little investigation the next time he saw odd behavior. But , I doubt it now. What I do now is that calling crooked officials out and showing the videos are very effective from my viewpoint as everyone around me has seen at least one example of a bad cop. As a youth I often said I would rather an honest pot head than a crooked cop. Crooked cops are common in many places and as I crossed the USA 3 times hitch hiking I have plenty of interesting experiences to recount. I am a Scot- American and Welsh, I look a little too dark for some cop's liking , it is obvious to me that any skin shade less than fish belly white is just asking for unwanted and possibly dangerous attention with certain police and people. I hope America finds a path through the confusion. May anyone reading this find hope and look forward. Namaste

This happens because there’s little to no accountability for officers. They get away with so much that they develop a superiority complex and start to feel like they’re not only above the law, but in someways godly. When officers like this are not removed from the force the system needs to be held accountable. The supervisors and elected officials need to be held accountable. Not only the department but the direct supervisors who could have removed this person, politicians who have the ability to remove this officer from his job, and even the police unions that fight to keep bad cops on the job should all be held civilly responsible. And though I believe that lawsuits should continue to go forward, every time a cop breaks the law they need to be held criminally liable to the fullest extent to include weapons related charges for any crime they commit while in possession of their firearms! And federal charges of deprivation of rights on the color of law need to be automatically filed against any police officer that violates your rights under color of law! Nothing will ever change until these things happen.

@@xtramangled No, you got that wrong. According to Larry Bruce, the public information officer for the Camden County Sheriff's Office. In an email to NPR, Bruce said that Cure was stopped after being clocked on radar driving at 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. And they were never on the ground. Neither of them, until cure was already shot. But the deputy and his poor policing skills are a product of the culture of cops in that area and of the cop, Aldridge, himself being unable to control his emotions and being a naturally violent and careless person. When Staff Sgt. Buck Aldridge fatally shot Leonard Cure during a roadside struggle after pulling him over for speeding, it wasn’t the first time a traffic stop involving the Camden County sheriff's deputy had spiraled into violence. Last year, Aldridge dragged a driver from a car that crashed after fleeing the deputy on Interstate 95. Body and dash camera video obtained by The Associated Press show the driver on his back as Aldridge punches him. Records indicate the deputy faced no disciplinary actionThe AP obtained Aldridge's personnel records as well as reports and videos from the June 2022 chase and arrest using Georgia's open records law. A former U.S. Marine, Aldridge, 41, worked nearly five years for the Kingsland Police Department in Georgia's southeast corner. His file shows Aldridge was disciplined for using unnecessary force in February 2014 and May 2017. The second time he was suspended for three days without pay. The department fired Aldridge for his third infraction just three months later. Police records say Aldridge was assisting with a traffic stop when he tried to handcuff a woman - not to arrest her, but to keep her outside her car. One deputy told investigators Aldridge cuffed the woman after “picking her up and throwing her on the ground.” She was cited for letting an unlicensed person drive her car. Aldridge was hired by the sheriff's office in May 2018. He disclosed his firing on his job application. Aldridge's termination wouldn't automatically disqualify him from working for another agency, though some would consider it a huge liability, said retired police Maj. Neill Franklin. Since last year, six Camden County deputies have been indicted on felony charges and fired for violence against jail detainees and a motorist. In September 2022, jail security cameras recorded guards rushing into the cell of Jarrett Hobbs, who was punched in the head and neck and hurled against a wall. Hobbs was charged with assaulting jailers until his attorney obtained the video. His charges were dropped, and three deputies were indicted. Two more jailers were charged and fired for incidents in March and July. Security video showed one push a detainee to the floor and punch him before another guard intervened. The other deputy shoved a handcuffed detainee headfirst into a door, knocking him unconscious. The number of deputies facing charges “indicates a culture that may not encourage use of force, but certainly tolerates inappropriate use of force,” said retired LaGrange, Georgia, Police Chief Louis Dekmar. “If folks are held accountable and there are clear lines, you generally don’t see that in law enforcement agencies,” said Dekmar, a former president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. A spike in claims involving the sheriff's office caused Camden County's government to get dropped by its insurance company in July, said Mike Spiers, the county's risk management director. The county got new policies, he said, but its deductible for liability jumped from $25,000 per claim to $250,000. Dekmar, Franklin and a third expert told AP they believe the shooting was legal, as Aldridge appeared to be in danger when he fired. But they also criticized how Aldridge began the encounter by shouting at Cure and said he made no effort to deescalate. “He escalated the situation with Mr. Cure,” said former Memphis police officer Thaddeus Johnson, a criminal justice professor at Georgia State University and a senior fellow for the Council on Criminal Justice. “He has no control over his emotions.” Johnson said Aldridge showed a similar lack of control during a June 2022 arrest after chasing two speeding cars. After one car crashes, body and dash camera video shows Aldridge shouting expletives as he approaches with his gun drawn. The driver is on his back when Aldridge starts dragging him headfirst from the car, then punches him. The driver resists being cuffed but complies after another deputy's dog bites him and Aldridge shocks him with a Taser. The driver was charged with drug trafficking, reckless driving and fleeing an officer. Aldridge was promoted to staff sergeant two months later. His sheriff's personnel file shows no disciplinary actions. Johnson said he sees no justification for Aldridge punching the arrested driver. Even if prosecutors don't charge him in Cure's death, he said, “from what I saw in the video, he deserves to be fired.” “We have to hold officers to a higher standard,” Johnson said, "even though they are human.”

This is such an insightful and compelling idea! Requiring police officers to carry liability insurance could really make a positive impact on how they interact with the public. It's all about fostering responsibility and accountability within the profession. Just like professionals in other fields, officers should be held accountable for their actions, and insurance could be a step in the right direction. I believe this proposal could encourage officers to invest in their professional development, making them more effective in their roles. Plus, it would help rebuild trust between law enforcement and the community. When we see officers taking responsibility through insurance, it sends a powerful message that they are committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and ethics. Moreover, this system could ensure that victims of police misconduct receive the compensation they deserve, without placing the financial burden on taxpayers. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved. Of course, introducing liability insurance should be a collaborative effort, with input from law enforcement agencies, officers, and community representatives. Together, we can create a fair and harmonious relationship between the police and the public. I hope this idea gains traction and sparks more meaningful conversations about responsible policing. Let's work towards a safer and more accountable society together! 💪🏽🤝 #ResponsiblePolicing #AccountabilityMatters #CommunityTrust

That’s what will happen to all of them when they get caught without their guns and badges. You don’t go around barking orders and yelling a grown man unless you want your ass handed to you.

The worst part is no other cop tried to stop him. The accompanying officers are just as guilty of the offense. They are all guilty. If you are accompanying someone in the commission of a crime, and that person offs a victim, you are also guilty of that death.

The cop will regret his decisions when he’s collecting shopping trolleys in a Target car park.
