If you want to get off on gore, there are plenty of places you can find it. The vast majority of people understand what's being censored without having to see it. @@TheInfinityzeN Involuntary manslaughter applies to fatal car crashes and other direct causes of death. The felony I refer to is when people die on their own terms but you are still at fault for it happening (liable for conviction). An example of what I mean: a man starts a project on his property. He makes an area filled with obstacles leading to an underground bunker accessible from his home. A person hired to build this bunker dies in an accidental fire that started in the underground bunker because his mobility was restricted.

@@jessi4894Respectfully, but I wholly and entirely disagree with the idea that a dog depending on its breed, is fated to be aggressive and dangerous. The dogs in this video were obviously aggressive, but they were trained to be aggressive. Not to mention the sorry state of the house in itself, which could mean the dogs were also being mistreated. I’ve had big breeds my entire life. Rottweilers, Labs, and yes Pits. We had them to always more so act as a threatening presence, rather than a promise of being mauled if someone trespassed, as well as a sort of alarm system to any yard activity. Meaning we didn’t train them to be aggressive. They were always protective of us yes, but never unnecessarily aggressive. Often times it was out Pits and Rotts who them because love bugs to any new people they met. All this to say, dogs are a blank canvas. They become whatever their owners impart onto them. The dogs in this video were trained to be violent and aggressive, and so they became.

Otherwise they can't get a conviction... and if they can't get a conviction, then they can't just arrest people. Definitely do NOT just take an owner's word for it if they insist their dog is friendly-- the dog could be friendly with familiar people but hostile to strangers, or the owner might just have no awareness or understanding of how dogs work; in both cases, the owner likely does not have full control of their animals and you are right to be cautious. There are a few cases in which the dog IS just being friendly, but the owner should be able to just call the dog back or shut them behind a door for your safety and/or comfort. Our dog is a big german shepherd lab mix with a *very* scary sounding bark, but she is definitely more bark than bite and a very sweet and friendly dog once you get to know her. She's usually just afraid of the things she barks at and not likely to attack anything. That being said, I'm well aware that she is an animal-- a very large animal-- fully capable of snapping and acting on instinct out of fear, so we try to just remove her from the room/yard just in case if she gets too agitated. It's always a good idea to be cautious of dogs; if you don't know a dog, don't try to touch or approach it, even if you think its barks are just excitement/happiness. I do want to point out that running away is probably not the best way to handle things, because that does trigger a chase instinct in most dogs and it might just make the encounter more stressful for everyone involved.

Thank You to that ACO for handling the upstairs dogs with professionalism, empathy, and care. Dogs respond to energy and this was a very scarey, stressful scene that could have really gone bad for them if the wrong person (ie. one of those police officers with a gun and all the heavy masculine energy) had confronted them. She approached with caution but also with kindness and this allowed the dog to trust her, which gave the dog a chance to get out of there alive. While this is horrific in every way, this is completely caused by human irresponsibility and ignorance. Those dogs were clearly living in poor conditions and were being neglected as well as not properly socialized or trained. Being a dog owner of any breed comes with great responsibility but especially this is true of bully breeds simply because of their strength. They get a bad rap even though they are not even the breed most likely to attack someone, but when they do, they do so much damage because of that strength. It is heartbreaking what happened to all of these dogs and the woman. This is not the dogs fault though and this woman knew the dogs as this was her son's house so she bears some responsibility for not reporting her son to animal control or insisting he take better care of these dogs. Mental illness is not an excuse to abuse and neglect animals and she shpuld have held him accountable. She certainly paid a heavy price for not doing so. Horrible all around. I hope the dogs removed from upstairs are able to be rehabilitated and adopted to a loving home.

Certain lines have extremely strong prey drive and territory protection genes. If these aren't mitigated, redirected in a healthy way, this is what happens. People suffer. The dogs suffer. The species suffer. I;m betting these specific dogs were used in a fighting ring, there's too many of them for them not to be. Law enforcement also needs to take calls like this seriously, where neighbors complain. It's clear these dogs weren't being raised and handled properly.

@melanie - as an EMT(ret) I can say that the trauma we experience will live with and haunt us for the rest of our lives. Therapy and immediate interventions like stress and trauma debriefings are wonderful, but the unconscious and subconscious minds are the force to be reckoned with. You do what you have to do in the moment and then think about it.

In the early 2000s as a paramedic I was called to a dog attack where the children of various Ages were being eaten by Pitbull Mastiffs. They had palm-sized chunks of skin gone down to Bone when they curled up in the fetal position to protect themselves, the dogs bit through their back and they were leaking urine from below their back ribs. The younger boy about eight or nine years old attempted to jump on top of a trampoline to get away from one of the dogs. The dog went underneath the trampoline ripped through the trampoline rip through his jeans rip through his scrotum. That was over 20 years ago, it was devastating when I came on seeing the police had already killed both of the dogs. I was never afraid of big dogs before that day. My dog is 9 lb. If you had told me the children were attacked by a bear I would not have questioned it. It was devastating.

It is not always just the ones attacked that suffer from it. When I was younger my little cousin was playing in the backyard in a mud puddle, and the next door neighbor's dog jumped three fences into our backyard and attacked him. I did not see or hear the actual attack, but when my uncle picked him up so that they could go to the hospital and his face came over his shoulder all bloody with his lip partially hanging off, I have this Crystal clear perfect memory of that and now I'm terrified of a barking dog, and I don't believe owners when they say that their dog is friendly. He does not remember it really at all, and there happened to be a plastic surgeon on call when they got to the hospital, who was able to repair his face so well that unless you knew it had happened and knew where the scars were supposed to be, you wouldn't even be able to see them. *And this was about 34 years ago. We're talking about different, specialized breeds. Pitbulls have different mentalities. If he's going for you, a horn ain't gonna do shxt. Their persistence is not only seen in the way they bite. This video exemplifies that; when he shot the black pit at least once and he still got up almost a minute later. These type of dogs remind me of kids. They need a structure, and they reflect your teachings (or lack thereof). I had 3 staffs, never told them nothing special. All I did was treat them right, they always behaved accordingly. These dogs are extremely dependent on not only a good care, but they need a good teacher - they don't need a guy that knows everything about dogs, but you have to know what you can't show or allow them to do. Edit: basically, if you're a dxckhead, the dog will show it.
