my gun being out of battery actually saved me once. Kept me from self-ending myself in a fit of severe depression and gave me enough mental clarity to call the police on myself and get transported to the VA hospital for the mental health help I needed. Thankfully I'm much better now

Yeah, the instructor in my ex's academy was talking about some of the DDs he rolled on. Those are scary. He also set up an "activity" day. He had a bunch of off duty officers playing the bad guys and all the trainees had to use squirt guns (there was a couple of guys in that class that shouldn't ever be given a gun...) The class had traffic stops where the officer perp was screwing with the cop (put your arm out--so he put it out and in, does push ups on the ground...). The DD episode was scary. They had a vacant house at the old base they used for this whole thing and they had a male and female cop doing the yelling. One of the trainees got clocked in the face with a chair because they took their eyes off the female while trying to deal with the male who ducked as the girl swung it. Another guy got hosed with a gun from the male because he was turned arguing with the female. It was a hard thing, they were playing it like they happen. A few got him down, one took the female in. The pat downs got criticized, two of the guys were undercovers, looked like big bikers with huge beards and hair. At the end, Lee had them pull out all the weapons on them and they had crap everywhere, a switchblade in their hair (no kidding), a hacksaw blade woven in a ponytail. Everyone was amazed at the amount, including the cops and instructor.

There was a deputy in my county who was demonstrating this "out of battery" situation in the squad room one night, pressing the gun into the palm of his hand and pulling the trigger. Problem being, the gun was loaded and he shot himself through the palm of his hand. Years later, he likes to joke he was shot on-duty and he also shot the guy who shot him.

Lessons Learned- 1- Don’t mess around when they resist. Time and time again we’re seeing the perp pulling a weapon once they have the opportunity. 2- don’t press your muzzle against the perp you gun won’t go bang most likely. Make sure you have at least an inch or two between the muzzle and entry point. 3- really consider if being in law enforcement is worth it at this point.

For anyone questioning why shooting a Glock with the thumb behind it: The Glock is a locked breach pistol, meaning most of the force of the firing is caught by the locking lugs and trunnion. Only a small force is used to push against the spring and thus open the gun. So you just need to cancel that small force at the start to prevent the gun from unlocking. Don't put your thumb behind the gun after it unlocked though, because you lose the mechanical advantage from the locking lugs and can seriously hurt yourself

it's just that personality shift. you look at the men with the extreme traits needed for policing, you get a small percentage, but the women only get a fraction of that. ie. 5% vs 1%. Just means it's even harder to find women fit for the job, but the ones that are can be bangin good.

I mean, I’ve seen a lot of male police officers who scream like little girls in the face of danger. It’s more so about the person themselves then their gender. But I do believe (as a woman myself) that most women should not be in the police force, merely for safety reasons

I think they would've helped if invited. Jumping in to a dynamic situation involving firearms is a foolish idea. That shot went into a space that was only unoccupied because there weren't more people taking up space.

The reality is nobody cares about some rando getting justifiably blasted by cops and the only person whos actually going to make any real money off of it is Donut. Also I'm not jumping into a fight with 3 people who all have guns, that's stupid, as soon as the first shot went off I would have done the best 50m dash of my life.

I heard this guy at my work saying that they are trying to get it so cops do not respond to domestic violence calls here anymore. I was thinking that is crazy I think those are some of the most dangerous calls, so good to hear that my thinking is right and if he wants to be one of the "counselors" called to them he is insane.

Even when it is just a couple nights, a lot of people are out of their marbles when they start these extreme situations. Sometimes, the attempt suicide by cop. Theyre too scared to do it themselves so the attack a cop and hope they get shot and pass away. Its pretty sad.

I knew instantly when she pressed that gun it would go out of battery. But she handled the situation very well and regained control when she pulled the gun away. Makes you think though if you were ever attacked by someone with a pistol, you may be able to push it out of battery if you can’t get it away from you. Risky but possible if there is no other option. Great breakdown donut!

  • @ravenrise320

One of the nice aspects of Springfield Armory's Hellcat line is that it's design lends itself to NOT going out of battery with a muzzle/body press. There are a few other pistol designs that lend themselves to achieving the same. But they are kinda few in number. Most pistol designs tend to follow Brownings basic barrel locking patent in some manner or other. And that was always one of the "flaws", if one wishes to call it that, of Brownings barrel locking system.

  • @mnxs

I mean, I don't think it's unfair to call it a flaw (regardless of how good the design otherwise is); it's a way that a pistol can malfunction in a time/situation where you *really* want it not to, and it's obscure enough that the cause of it is likely not apparent. But I can see why you'd be hesitant when risking angering the devout followers of the Church of Browning 😂

It looks like the male officer has taken the gun from the guy and is holding it in his right hand after the Dbag got a shot off. The Female officer does not know that the male officer has taken the gun away from the Dbag. Dbag says 'please dont shoot me, i dont have it.' Female officer drives her gun into Dbag and tries to shoot him, but her weapon is not charged. Dbag realizes that she is trying to kill him and starts resisting again and screaming "Ahh she is gonna shoot me N***a, please stop, please stop, please stop' female officer shoots him.
