For officer safety purposes you have the subject keep their hands out of their pockets. I've actually seen someone take a Swiss army knife with a tiny 2 inch blade and stick it straight into the heart of another person who died instantly. That's how we work. You keep your hands out of your pockets. You can say all you want you ain't got nothing. That is until you pull an edged weapon out with a razor sharp blade on it like they did when they took over the planes on 9/11 - a box opener - and slit my throat. When looking at the registration numbers on the vessel how are you going to know if they're legit if the boat captain won't show you the registration as required by law? This Captain brought more hate on him than maybe he deserved. He could have stopped it just by showing his registration and been done with it. " I was reaching for my driver's license..." only after the handcuffs were going on. Looking at an objectively, there was something going on with the individual on that boat and that he would not make direct contact with the officer and would not follow directions given to him. He seemed hesitant about contact being made with him. That would spark my curiosity as well. If you don't have anything to hide, don't act like you're trying to hide something.

Operating a boat is a bit different than driving a car. You can be inspected at any time (for no reason) while acting as "captain" of a boat. Dude could have given his driver's license to the officer, then enjoyed a fun day on his boat after likely receiving a written warning for not having his registration on board. Boat guy was obviously not the sharpest crayon in the box.

@@SARDOGFL Folks drive / boat without reg all the time. For autos, the reg sticker is usually affixed to the windshield. Additionally, LEOs can verify the doc internally via the database. Here, the reg sticker was affixed to the boat legally. FWC officer could have simply verified the doc. The resisting will probably get dropped. As officer gave him no warning that he would be arrested before jumping on the boat and attempting to restrain the man. He's 60 -- and MAYBE his reaction time was a bit slow to respond to physical encroachment by the officer. IN any event, even if I agreed with you, once LEO verified all his info, he certainly didn't have to cart the man off to jail. That was ridiculous.

As a charter licensed captain you have to follow every state and fed statute and policy-each and every time you launch. You've paying public you're responsible for, just like that pilot, bus driver. If you can't follow plainly written rules such as these, and having your registration aboard, why would you be thought to follow all the other statutes and policies? You see the numbers 0:49 ? He have the registration aboard just the same as you have to have in a vehicle? I work on the salt, not far from this event site. I see 40-50 vessels a day, never seen one hide their numbers under a hooked gunnel. Baby is just a constant wannabe victim. Well he won't have to be a victim as much, no charter license now. Number must be painted, applied as a decal, or otherwise affixed to both sides of the bow and placed where it can be observed clearly. Number must read from left to right on both sides of the bow. Number must be in at least three-inch-high bold BLOCK letters.

I worked at one and had a dude get pissed at me for asking for ID... He went and got it and threw it at me... He was 3 days over 21.

If you know your stuff ole FWC gets schooled and sent packing 100% of the time. Have had multiple run ins with them and it's always a good laugh sending them on their way. I do the same thing here in georgia as well. The few cases that went to court were dropped almost immediately. If folks actually knew the law of the land there is so much B.S. you can avoid entirely and there isn't a darn thing Mr Green jeans can do about it. Problem is most of the time folks don't know crap about the law.

Believe it or not that piece of paper is nothing more than a money grab and a database to get folks info so in the event of they can come kick your door down and take you to jail just because they think they can and all they need is suspicion of a crime and make up some sort of exigent circumstance to do it. Happens all the time. I have personally been apart of a similar case like what I described and it got squashed quickly once all the evidence I had was presented.

Even a LEO on the road has to have I.D. to log you in the system even for a verbal warning, no different with a vessel and FWC LEOs. The FWC LEO was even willing to accept him telling him his name and birthdate but your fellow piece of chit had to argue. Turned a written/verbal warning into two actual charges, loss of a $300-$500 charter, and his charter license. Serves the pink panty punk right, and hopefully you'll experience the same on a vessel or vehicle-and on body cam so we can laugh about it.

I've seen them use it when, for example, a driver doesn't have a license in his possession, a reg card in his possession, or insurance in his possession. All these docs can be verified by police and pigs can also determine if they are all up to date -- not expired... so all this bootlick talk about what you SHOULD have when driving or boating doesn't mean sh*t when we all know PIGS have access to verify.

I can see why the guy is annoyed. The -cop- fish monger obviously saw him pull into the parking lot with the boat and didn't notice the reg stickers. Rather than approach the guy before he launched the boat - to let him know that he needs to have valid registration - he waits to make sure the guy commits a violation. Given the countless videos showing the Florida Fish Mongers as ego-tripping cash grabbers, I believe him when he says that they give him a hard time every time he interacts with them. He has had enough. He didn't make any particularly good decisions here but then, not too many people do when they're pushed to their limits.

USCG and most states do not require an officer to have reasonable suspicion of a crime in order to stop and carry out safety and violation inspection on a motorized vessel. They can stop a boat on the water at anytime and require proof of registration, life jackets, throwable, horn, etc etc and they must be shown. So he legally had every right to ask for his registration and then license. This dude obstructed by not providing. Fair or not the LEO had every right to do what he did. Dude didn’t comply at all until he knew he was in trouble.

Why are people so ignorant of the laws???? Then they get ticked off at the cops when they get called on it. Ridiculous! This guy was just stonewalling and being stubborn when the cop asked him for ID and registration, which is legal for the cop to do. It is standard for the cops to ask for ID, registration, insurance, and for the person to keep their hands out of their pockets. This cop was absolutely justified. And this guy whining and saying his 60 years old… good grief. He’s running a charter, he should know how to act according to law. Act all tough and belligerent until the cop puts you in cuffs.

The cop stated he was going to give warning. But he charged this guy for resisting. If the cop wanted license but hes has to take hands out of pants that was contrary. The other point not mentioned is cop could see the boat pull to dock so all cop had to do is walk twenty feet to left and he could see decals as they're on both sides.

And the FWC LEO took him at his word they were there but asked to see his registration, just like EVERY CONTACT you have while driving a vehicle-license, registration, and insurance for the road, not a vessel, but can be required for a charter vessel like this one. 2:00 sound like he was going to hand over his license? Hell, the FWC LEO even said he could just tell him his name and birthdate and your fellow piece of chit had to argue. Constant wannabe victim then CRY and BEG like a baby when it doesn't go right.

Usually it is sold and they take the profit before you can get it back. It’s used all the time by the government. They will say the boat could have been used for drug dealing.

So you ask for ID he puts his in his pocket and you freak out about putting his hand in his pocket. Makes sense!

By 6:40, this was a retalatory arrest, At no point did he say he wasn't going to grab his ID. It just seemed like he was going to ask why he needed to in the first place. Also, am I getting one tripping that he said he was like captain or something? This guy does not deserve that position... Sad to see, Some of the first few videos on this guy's channel actually don't show FWC behaving that badly at all. But every other one as of recent just shows how nasty they are. Happy I don't live in Florida 🎉

@Ray-7479 Honestly, if the cop could've calmly explained why or the guy would have been detained if he didn't show his ID, I'd assume as much at least. He probably would have shown it because he seemed to do the exact thing when it started to go down. Now I'm not going to say. I know what that guy would have done dumb. But that's my guess. At least I do feel like the officer in that case. It was a little bit too harsh. Honestly, it's more than a little bit imo. Though I invite other commenters' opinions on it (in agreements or opposition)

@@HurpMuhGurp The cop started a very calm conversation that led to a couple of calm and reasonable request. Starting at 1:26 he simply asks if the guy if he had his registration. That was a lawful request. Then there is calm back and forth but the guy does not want to produce an ID (also lawfully requested). I'd bet the cop was getting a sketchy vibe while the guy appears to be avoiding eye contact, looking around, like someone that is trying to figure out how to get out of there. But then the guy starts a staring contest or something (what was that about?). He never offers his ID. Put his hand in his pocket - during that back and forth he only refers to money being there. Never produces, nor says he will produce an ID. When the cop has had enough and goes to slap the cuffs, all of the sudden, "You wanted my license, I was getting it out of my pocket..." line of BS. I have no problem with people asserting their rights with cops. A lot of people scream "I know my rights," but they don't. A fish cop can inspect you boat. Florida fish cops are state cops, and can demand to see your boat registration in additions to life jackets, fire extinguishers, sound producing devices, and if applicable, your fishing/hunting license. If there is reasonable suspicion that you may be in violation (this is not the level of probable cause yet) they can require you to identify yourself while they investigate. You don't have to tell them where you're going, where you've been, what you were doing*, for how long, how much you've had to drink. But you better know the nuances of that game if you don't want it to backfire in court. For example - I don't know what the requirement is if I was out fishing. If you have fish/game on board you probably have to tell them and allow them to inspect it. This guy turned a warning about his registration in to an arrest because of a chip on his shoulder. I don't feel sorry for him.

This is what the state should have to use for their "Travel to Florida" commercials. After watching all these FWC, police state, videos you couldn't pay me to travel to this "free state".

If the guy would have simply given the cop what he asked for or explained in a polite adult manner that he didn’t have it on the boat, none of this would have happened. People now days are so disrespectful to law enforcement personnel that they are pretty much forced to be use force.

A little respect goes a long way people, that goes for the civilian and officer.

This is the biggest piece of stz I’ve seen lately. This man wasn’t driving and had no obligation to even speak with him. This case will be tossed quick fast and in a hurry. True but he made references towards the boat being his and the stickers being proof of registration and that he didn’t need to have papers. This DNR officer definitely went fishing for a violation but it still is a violation. That’s their job unfortunately. I want to imagine this case could be dismissed with ease.

If he had properly displayed current registration on his boat why does LEO have the right to request anything ? he was not investigating anything so had no right to ask for ID etc. I had no idea that FWC was so corrupt

Had I found myself in this situation, I'd have provided the FWC officer my drivers license, done my charter, thus avoiding confinement in jail, and would have avoided criminal prosecution. The question is...why didn't the Cap'n comprehend he was about to have a bad day by playing games with the FWC officer? Play stupid games, expect to win stupid prizes.

The bottom line here is, it didn't have to go this far. But like always did not get the attitude they like to have giving to them. This is an old timer who basically doesn't have the time for BS and silly questions. So he gives FWC a little attitude. And then of course, the officer is not going to have it. You can here at the end, when he's on the phone saying, he was just going to give him a warning. But the answers where not what he likes, so you have what you have. He approaches because at 1st he sees no FL numbers. But then they are there, just under the gunnel line. Then are you going fishing? Does it really matter? Is this a check point to find out why I put the boat in the water?? Its all BS plain and simple. But don't want you to talk down to them.
