The judge's rationale justifying the cop arresting the victim is disgusting. She's effectively saying that it's perfectly ok for the police to lose their cool, arrest innocent people and violate their Constitutional rights just because they were "provoked". The smallest amount of self control and maturity is all it takes to avoid doing that, but too many cops have neither of those traits.

This also pissed me off. So the officers committed an illegal act in the eyes of the (but they thought they were doing the right thing so they are safe) Law. Yet, you say it's justifiable because they were provoked?! That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. If they weren't cops and he said what he said, any physical action against him should then be met with the same rational by the judge. Which would obviously land his attacker in jail...... These the people we allow to lead? WTF

it's all based off the fact that the officer beli3eved they had the authority do place that person under arrest. When the officer believes it was a legal arrest based on how they see the laws, the courts will always say the officer was right in what they thought. Remember all laws are under the reasoning of the person looking at them. WHile 1 judge might see it one way, another judge will see it differently, and as a general member of the public you have no say in how laws work.

It’s definitely illegal to lie under threat of perjury. I think the offense determines if it’s a misdemeanor or felony though. And if they are convicted they go on the Brady list. But when departments don’t care about the list, or they stop prosecution because the officer quits and moves to another department, it’s hard to make changes. They know how to use their loopholes well

The system is not broken... It is a system that's design to protect criminals that work in law enforcement, and criminals that are in various judicial seats... The U.S. Constitution is rarely enforced on the state level, when it comes to law enforcement and government accountability... Keep in mind, segregation of public facilities and businesses, was rules unconstitutional in 1955... Yet, various states continued their illegal activities regardless to the U.S. Supreme Court's rulings making segregation illegal... Individual states decided to gain control by making sure "Qualified Immunity" was adopted and then presented as law; though not being law at all, only a provision that continues to be upheld.

SHOW me one video of a good cop doing the right thing, defending the innocent, fighting injustices, reporting they're bad fellow cops. Oh wait, that's sometimes called a super hero, no such thing, only a fairy tale. Damn right, the justice system is broken, rotten throughout, corruption abound, a cesspool of money hungry tyrants imposing their will on the innocent, demanding absolute obedience and unquestioning compliance. They always lie in court. One night we went to a movie with some friends and some cops approached us, and they tackled and arrested my friend for no reason. They thought he was somebody else they were looking for. But they charged him with trespassing (we were leaving the movie theater) and resisting arrest (because of course). Fast forward, we went to court and I was a witness so I went to support him. The cops completely made up a story that we were rioting because some Biggie Smalls movie was out (we didn’t even see that)., and tried to claim my friend was trying to fight random people. They blatantly lie on stand and don’t care.

They don't care about appeals, it's more money for the Just-Us system because you have to pay for the privilege to appeal in the form of a bond, in advance of of a hearing. They know this creates a financial strain on ppl pursuing a just verdict, most simply can't afford to continue through the process, and they onow it. There's a reason people of a lower socio-economic status are the target of this so called Just-Us system, from the cops to the courts

That’s why I switched.

That judge is disgusting! This just proves that officers are above the law because their other officers will protect them and even if brought to court, the judge will protect them. The judge admitted that it was an unlawful arrest by finding him not guilty, and then proceeded to make excuses for the officer's unlawful arrest. How are we the people supposed to get justice when the courts protect these scumbag officers??! Their tyranny is unacceptable, and that woman has no business being a judge. We need term limits for judges, or at least laws that force them to give officers and other public servants the same treatment that everyone else has.

This is why voting is so important. Change starts at the local level. If you want change in your political representatives, it starts at the bottom. We vote judges into their positions, they don't just get hired. So if you want to change the political environment it starts with your local judges, city council members, and mayor.
