Surprising how the loop held up under the pumping force. Having dealt with replacing the pump on the well in our garden, the pressure of a high-powered pump can be huge. This reminds me, maybe he could get a well drilled in his garden and use a pump in there hooked up to water cooling without a radiator. Wouldn't be practice, but would certainly be fun.

According to Bernoulli's Equation as the diameter of a pipe decreases the pressure will also decrease while the velocity increases. That means when you take a pump with 37PSI of pressure at a 1" diameter and a flow rate of 9539 l/h and reduce it down to a 1/4" diameter the water will leave the fitting at 5.8PSi and 74.88km/h.

For the next cooling experiment, try cooling a PC with a liquid metal loop like an early nuclear reactor. Liquid metals like Mercury and NaK (the preferred choice for cooling applications) can be circulated using a electromagnetic pump. The pump applies a current to the metal inside of a strong magnetic field, causing it to be repelled and move perpendicular to the magnetic field.

As someone who dosen't work with high pressure fluids and really only has basic physics knowledge, i bet that they lost a lot of that "flow" in turbulence. I would expect that you can't just push the water harder through the series of small tubes with complex geometry and expect it to not just dump all it's energy into the walls (and into itself). Also, shouldn't they have tried to pull the water throug the loop instead of pushing it?

Good idea, thinking of the power draw of the RTX4xxx series .... but those gas prices *sniffs I kinda did that back in the days (where PhenomII was new^^). We used a pump from the central heating system and copper pipes. To cool two gaming pc's in a row. Both were fitted with customized water cooling on CPU and GPU. Our container had 65L of distilled water with anti corrosion and anti bacteria additives in it. A hell of a project and worked awesome. Not necessary to mention we also had a big radiator :D

I loved the video, great laughs. One thing with water cooling with a high volume pump is that when you reduce the size of piping its going to flow in, the pressure increases but the volume of flow goes wayyy down. Waters thermal conductivity also comes into play, water is most efficient at transferring/absorbing heat when it has time to collect that heat and take it with it to the rad. Fast flowing water cant have enough time to absorb heat causing low water exit temps and high heat temps at the gpu. Finally, the chilled water plus the huge ranivore also caused a huge delay in temps moving. Water loops dont take that long to heat up, causing temps to yield at a temp and stay there.

As a computer nerd, I'm happy with this video. Next time, use larger diameter tubes, shorter runs, an electric motor for the pump... If your building uses chilled water for the A/C system, you totally need a permanent manifold to connect PC cooling loops to. Overall, a 7/10. After all, the tap water in a porperly designed building tend to already have enough pressure and waterflow in it, while such tiny pipes in these computers really doesn't need too much cool water at too high a speed to handle it. And yeah, wasting water isn't good, but you could always recollect them for other general usages or even for water heaters so ...

I've already said this, and it's a very risky thing to say. Imagine you are on an island, and there is another island over there. And you want to conquer it. And they are ruled by a leader. "Oh but they are disciplined, and they obey their leader. It's impossible to defeat them." Ah, then we will impose democracy on them. Democratic propaganda! We will promote the most democratic way. "Oh, but they have nationalism! They will sacrifice themselves to protect their land." Ah, we will spread globalist ideology. Remove all notions of nationalism and patriotism, promote these ideas as evil. Turn them against each other so they will hate their own country and race. "Oh, but they also have incredible faith in God! They have such faith in God that they never abandon the front." Ah, then let's promote atheism and hedonism. Church time is over. From now on, only night clubs and pornography. They must be open about sex. "Oh, but the youth are healthy and strong. They're in formidable shape. They are the way the Creator made them: in his image." Ok then, from now on McDonald's, Coca-Cola, drugs, alcohol, video games. Let them be fat, lazy, weak, domesticated, undisciplined. We must abolish military service. "Ah... yeah but the other thing is that they are homogenous. They are a single people, a single race. There is no ethnic chaos." Ok, then in whatever way, we must send them boats with foreigners - whites, blacks, Asians, Muslims, Chinese. "But they have a lot of babies! 6 or 7 babies on average! They're happy to have large families!" Ok, from now on abortion, the pill. You have now defeated that island without firing a single bullet.

Engineering-wise, I would have recommended a bleed-off line with a valve between the pump’s inlet and outlet. Start it with the bypass open (theoretically 0 down the load line), the divert the flow to the load by closing down the bypass valve, preferably gradually, until you find the limits your load can take.

Hey Alex, with a high power/flow pump compared to a standard pump, you can think about the situation in a more simplistic manner by just imagining the flow rate through the loop is infinitely fast. Liquid moves over the CPU so fast, and through the radiator so fast, that you can more or less look at the rate of heat transfer happening uniformly across the total volume of fluid in the system. I'd think if you'd really want good/sustainable performance, you should also increase the reservoir volume by maybe 5-10x feels good.

I LOLed quite a lot during this video. Great entertainment, guys! I just dug a well in the garden a few days back and used one similar pump to keep the water out during digging... so yeah. Who thought to apply that water-moving power to a cooling system on a PC?! So much LOL!

Love your channel. I love that you do all the research so we don't have to. Can you please research a topic of windows optimizing softwares maybe in the near future? I'm specifically interested in IObit Advanced System Care Pro and, lolo System Mechanic. Thanks.

Thanks for this guys. Really. I was always thinking about hooking up a line from my pressure tank with a flow reduction and pressure reduction as my source water is 13c. Would you guys do some testing to see what flow rate and pressure is a good starting point for us DIY'rs... love the IDEA LMG.....

No but the end did make me wonder if that if you lived next to stream or other water source it would be worth pumping water directly from there for cooling...

I feel caught. I have a fresh water well for my house that has a pump like that just powered by green pixies. Some hydraulic hoses and machined fittings. Infinite supply of cold water in the single digits.

The intro is too iconic, it's basically a meme at this point i'm 100% sure that removing it is gonna hurt more than increasing watch time for like 8 seconds.

next you can passively cool the PC by gravity siphoning the water from that huge trash bucket in to the loop and seeing if that is enough pressure to run and cool the system, if it does you should test how long it would last... that would make a great video
