I am having a similar experience, and will try insulating the exhaust hose. How does the air conditioner detect the room temperature to know when to shut down when and if the temperature to which it is set is ever achieved?

Just wondering if the tube could have been installed closer to the unit by turning/flipping the tube to the right side?

Yes I believe it could have.

Would be delicate shortening the hose. Not even sure about insulating it. The unit works, but I'm not savvy with HVAC, there is probably a way to resolve it, tho.
