Developed by artist, instructor and metal clay enthusiast, Cindy Silas, Cyprus Copper Clay is an excellent base metal clay medium for jewelry, crafts, sculpture and models. Offered in lump (wet) form, this clay is water-based, air dries and fires to .999 pure copper.
In this video, Karen gives step by step instruction to add color by enameling on this wonderful copper clay. She gives it an antiqued finish using Patina Gel. We have created multiple cuff templates to offer a variety of different designs options. These versatile templates can be used two different ways, cut out the design and layer over another sheet of rolled out clay or emboss.

You need more water. Thick packing will hide air bubbles which will eventually cause the enamel to Crack and fall out.

Are there options to fix warping or other moving in the copper after firing? You didn’t mention...

Hello, since this shape was long and thin, it's very likely that you would experience some warping in the sintering firing. However, you can easily correct the form with a bracelet mandrel and rawhide mallet, and the bracelet should be shaped and sized exactly as you would like it before you begin enameling. Once you have enamel fired onto your bracelet, any attempt to re-shape the cuff will result in enamel cracking and chipping. I haven't had any issues with the Cyprus Copper Clay warping while it's in the kiln to be enameled though, so if you start off with the correct shape before you enamel you should be fine. Hope this helps!

Are you able to store the leftover enamel for later use after adding the klyre fire?

Hello, yes, you can. You may need to add a little more klyr-fire, but storing leftover enamel should not be a problem. Hope this helps!

You should only prepare was much enamel as you need. Don't store it.

Thanks! if you are referring to the stoning and finishing portion of the project, I would not recommend using a rotary tool on a flexible shaft to speed it up. I would be worried about making all the ground off enamel airborne, and even if you still worked wet with a rotary tool I’d be worried about how messy and unsafe it could potentially be. If you are interested in a more quick way to stone and sand, we sell the Jooltool enamel and glass polishing kit that can be used to speed up the cleanup and polishing of the enamel.
