    In Australia 🇦🇺 There are a few varieties setting up in the major cities, such as Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra. Most of the vending machines around are just snack, drinks and chocolates. That sort of thing

    I live in a german countryside and the machines are popping up every corner and i love it. A local butchery has his own and with a sign they said: we are closing earlier on saturdays to give our staff more freetime on weekends. For this we have the most common products in this vending machine. And with the machines you know from where the food comes and its not mostly cheaper than in some supermarkets :)

    WOW, that's amazing. I'm German born. Have not been back for over 20 years, due to my husbands illness. Never seen vending machines like these over there. Yes, I seen cigarettes and beer vending machines, but never food products. There was no age limit to buy beer then. I know now there is. I still cook a lot of German food in my kitchen here in America. I never cared for the German potato salad, which usually gets served warm. I make mine totally different. In 20 some years, that has most likely changed by now. Never ate BBQ either, till I came to Texas. Gosh, that was so so good. I lived in Borger Texas for a short time, and the BBQ was outstanding. I think it was the best I ever ate. Wished I could turn time back to 1970. I adored the small city where I grew up. I could see Ostria and Switzerland across the lake called Bodensee. I still miss that place. But many things had changed there too the last time I went back home. Enjoy your trip through America Phil and Deana. Gosh I so miss my homeland. But hardly anyone from my family is still alive.

    I lived in Zweibrucken in the early 1980's and as much as I adore a good wurst there was this little street vendor downtown that served curry wurst. It was sliced, drizzled with a sauce, came with a chunk of hearty bread and served in a paper boat with a wood skewer to eat with. Absolutely heavenly.

    About 10 or 12 years ago we were visiting Bruges Belgium and I took a tour of the Flanders Fields area. One stop was at a small farm. At the side of the road, the farmer had two vending machines. One had the best strawberries I've ever had in it, the other was all potatoes. Since we had no kitchen in our hotel, I just admired the potatoes without buying any. I'd planned on saving some of the strawberries for that evening when I reconnected with my wife. They were addictive enough that didn't happen.

The same for firewood. Perhaps we don't have fancy vending since so many shops and groceries are open for most of, or even all, the day.

    Same vending shops exist in Korea. All sorts of shops and stores, from ice cream/dessert shops to stationary goods, laundromats etc. Even 24 hour cafes. No vandalism.

    In The Netherlands we also have these farmer’s vending machines, for eggs, cheese, jam and honey, cold soup, apples, potatoes, tomatoes, paprikas and cucumbers. And also for milk and buttermilk, but you’ll have to bring your own bottle or milk can. And of course we have the hot vending machines for fried food in the city, the imbiss vending wall.

    Here in Northern California we can also buy eggs, cheese, produce and flowers at free standing farm stands. It’s the honor system.

  • @mattblom3990
    @mattblom3990 Жыл бұрын

    This reminds me on the honour system we have in my rural suburb outside of Vancouver, Canada. People just place stands of fruit, veggies, flowers, etc. and put a jar for payment based off the honour system. More so though people give away stuff for free, all the time, everyone is constantly putting free furniture or electronics, tires, gift-ware, by their curbs rather then put the effort in to sell it for just a few dollars. In my apartment complex we have a room where people just put stuff to give away for free and it's not junk a lot of it is new even.

    Currywurst OR Bratwurst? Dude you gotta use the Bratwurst for the Currywurst :D It's way better than the boiled sausage currywurst version^^ but if I HAD to choose, I'd say Bratwurst ^^

    Looks really yum. Love the idea of vending machines. I hope Australia takes up the trend. I remember the cigarette machines in the past. Mostly we only have drink machines. Both cold and coffee ones.

    Labor is expensive and hard to find in the countryside so it's easier to have a machine or honor system. In the city where I live, that store would be robbed in a day. We have a free food fridge in the city and it gets emptied 5 times a day because people don't (or can't) pay.

    Boerderijwinkel or farmer shops are popular in the Netherlands too. I saw some farms in upstate New York selling items like honey and jelly through small houses at the roadside next to the mailbox too. Just take what you need and leave the money in a box. No camera (at least I didn’t saw one) 😊

    interesting, i am from germany and never seen vending machines like these, but it certainly have seen places with self service, usually outdoors and always without cameras or anyone watching. Even the money box could easily be stolen with just a screwdriver or a clipper, but it is based on trust and it works :)
