Agree they're not cheap but I've had one on my VFR1200X for 18 months and the best benefit you don't mention is they stop the pooling of water riding in the rain so no more soggy crotch! Worth the price just for that!

I have been looking for one of those seat covers ever since i rode a bike fitted with one last year and i thought then it was fantastic. Having tried the airhawk and not getting on with it. i now know where to look thank you!

Thank you for that sir. I'll probably pick one up for my Himmy here in Alaska. I don't need it for "cooling", but I'm sure it will add to the comfort.

A fellow on the US CB1100 forum found a brand out of France and he started carrying them for us in the States. When I saw it I bought one for the CB I was buying off him ($20 US). Three sizes, small, medium and large). Tried it for a bit then bought two more for the other bikes. Dang cool in the winter (Phoenix Arizona) but the bees knees in the summer. They do abrade the tank paint a bit where the seat meets the tank. But dang. I love 'em. A buddy says the fabric was originally used for providing venting at the ridge of the roof.

Been contemplating buying one. You've just convinced me. Ordered one for my 2015 cb500x this morning. I'm sure it'll improve comfort on my Morocco trip later this year. Cheers.

How are you liking it? Does it improve the comfort of the stock seat noticeably? Mainly looking for some increased comfort rather than cooling as this does not look so out of place compared to other seat covers

They work. Used them on motorbike and car seat in Serbia. Different brand, same result.

I'm not sure what the genuine nes use but the cheap ones look to just use non-slip rubber matting that you can buy a whole roll of for a few quid. We use it a lot on boats inside cupboards and as table mats, e.g. to stop stuff sliding around...

I bought a Chinese Cool seat cover copy last summer. Very well made and durable. Comparing it with a genuine cool cover that i have on my other bike there is no difference. It cost me £3.95 from eBay. The small size fits the front seat of the Himalayan perfect. Have to agree they are great in the summer but as soon as the cold weather comes i do notice the draft of cold wind around my never regions. Another plus point of the cover is it made the seat more comfortable

Paid less than 2 quid for one of these for my Himalayan in India. Custom made by the side of the road. Bought 2 meter square piece of the material for 3 quid to bring back to Blighty! Very commonly used in India because of the heat.70 quid?

Hi david. yes I've found the work well for firming up the seat a bit and making it all day comfortable. I had one on the Voge 300 rally and did consecutive 200 mile days and a 500 one. Same distances with the Himalayan with one on.

No I haven't but I did ride the Silver Vase that had the same engine and I didn't think a lot to it. It felt very gruff and flat. Maybe another ride on one would be good, but I'm not sure I'd swap the Himalayan for one, not when the beauty of the Himalayan is that you can do long distance on it due to panniers, screen etc

  • @bikersquest
    @bikersquest4 жыл бұрын

I like the idea a lot but £65 is quite steep, Airhawk is aimed at long distance comfort not really airflow/cooling so kind of a different product (But expensive indeed). Like you mentioned you can get similar stuff on ebay for a tenner if he could lower the price to about £30-£35 or justify the current price vs other options then I'd get one

  • @nathanthepostman

@@nathanthepostman In my view one is to prevent you getting a sore bum for as long as possible (Airhawk) and the other is to keep you cooler in hot climates.

@@bikersquest maybe. However it works the cool cover still stops you getting a sore bum for as long as possible so the consequence of having it are the same as the air hawk. To me at least. Maybe an airhawk is better in winter when the CC can get a bit chilly down below

You could make one of these yourself if you are anyway handy, £70 is too expensive for this. good idea though, I use the sheeepskin pad, if it's wet I just though it in the top box.

I guess, but you can make yourself a cup of tea but people still spend £2.50 on one at Costa. I guess people base their decision on convenience on whether something works or not.

Good job you get them for nowt matey, coz I can’t ever see a value for money conscious chap like yourself actually paying 70 quid for what is eccenually a glorified onion bag! 🤣 Not for this ombré ! 🤣🤣🤣 Dazza. 🇬🇧

Would I buy one with my own money? That's a very good question. Definitely if they didn't work then I wouldn't. But they do work so if I had a lot of miles to cover - which I do - then I would, because Air Hawks aren't cheap and lambs wool - which I used for the ride back from Australia on the postie bike - has its downsides. I won't disagree that they're not cheap for what they are, but nothing in motorcycling's cheap. A grand for panniers, a grand for a jacket, £20k for a bike. Why would someone price something for what someone reckons they should be, who probably wouldn't buy one anyway. If it was a tenner some people would still complain.
