Happy New Year! Holy cow Zak, your mom looks as young as you. She's an eternal beauty and no doubt contributes to your good looks. Thanks for sharing your New Years with us. And I love the way she speaks Russian, I'm a poor Russian speaker but her pronunciation sounds so exact to me that I can hear every word, and the case endings. When I listen to most Russians speak, I lag behind about 5 to 10 words, when your mom talks, I'm right there. She should have her own channel.

I hope you can get you mom out of Russia, too. You don't want "them" harassing her because you escaped and have probably avoided the draft into the army.

I am watching this post-Ukraine. Such a difference a few months have made.

I just discovered your channel and am enjoying it very much. I subscribed so I can watch them all. I live on Long island in new York. I studied Russian for one semester in the 90s "yazeek ochen troodniy", I found the grammar very difficult. Watching this episode I had to tell you that we always have herring with cream sauce for new year. I thought is was because my babuska was from Poland but maybe it's Slavic tradition. Very much enjoy your vlogs keep up the excellent work.

Thank you for sharing you life to us. Today I watched the video you posted a while ago, I think it was right after you returned from the USA. It started out with you at your Grandmother's Dacha (Russian style farm) and it reminded me dearly of the farm I used to visit while I was very young in Oktobe, place where my grandparents resided. I currently live in the United States, Washington State to be exact. I came here when I was 8 years old, in fact I think it was literally a year before Putin became president. At that time friend, I had no idea almost to come of our motherland. I'm extremely saddened, and frightened for my family that is still in St Petersburg to this day. My father is much too old to be taken in to mobilization, but it always makes me think what if I never made it to the states? Would I still be in St Petersburg? And now with a gun firmly in my hand ready to fight a war that is there to throw me into the fire as a piece of meat. I left Russia when I was eight, so I can't speak on much. What I can say though is people like you are a gem to the human race. The Bravery, the caring nature to human beings that you have is truly uplifting friend. Much love from Seattle.

Thank you very much for showing 😎 And what a beautiful and warm hearted mom you have, I envy you! 🙂 Interesting: As for those salads my mom like many other moms in many other families used to make basically the same „Hering (fish must be salted) salad“ here (you know where I am from) as a traditional dish on Christmas Eve (Dec 24th). My Dad carried on with this tradition until he also sadly died 7 years ago. We use the same sausage for „Olivier salad“ which is a popular traditional salad for many occasions. And I do have the same egg cutter here in my kitchen as well! 😋.

I love it.. The tradition... It's beautiful. Too bad our government's don't see the same world we do. ONe LovE, hope you are safe brother...

It was probably hard for you to make friends at your college in St Paul because most students at that school attend class and then return to their homes and because of this there isn’t much campus life. It’s what we call a commuter school. Your English is great and you could easily get a job in the US if you ever wanted.
