Cooking smells escape the kitchen, wafting through the corridors. Many hands prepare the meals there, making merry of the chores. Outside there are cars arriving, bringing loved-ones from afar, sounds of laughter and much giggling in the room housing the bar. Spirits are extremely high there and the merriment excels, all the chateau‘s decorations twinkle like some silver bells. At Lalande all people gather, irrespective of their creed, joining in, participating, with a designated seat. At the table decked with China and some glinting silverware. It‘s a place to come together and forever gladly share. So the spirit of a Christmas does reside within its walls. And somehow it will remain there, in its decorated halls. This is my humble poetic interpretation of the Spirit of Lalande. Thank you for bringing a sparkle to our lives ! ✨😘

The US is seeing an up tick of the new variant even in thrice-vaccinated people. Scarier and scarier. Thankful to have my husband to celebrate with me. I miss my children. My mom died in March with Covid as a partial factor. She was in a care home. I just lost a cousin to cancer. I am very glad to have the Advent vlogs to cheer me. Stephanie: How wonderful for you to have your Aunt and Uncle there when your Mom could not travel. Years ago when we were in a International Dinner Party I was given the task of Coquilles Saint-Jacques. Interestingly the recipe was a little different. The scallops were dredged in flour with salt, curry powder and cayenne pepper. Then pan fried in butter. Then mushrooms and onions were sautéed with white wine. Simmer until reduced by half. Stirring in a little cognac at the end. The scallops were put in the shells with the mixture and bread crumbs, butter and Gruyère was put on top and put under a broiler. Then a squeeze of lemon before serving. Jut thought maybe you may want another version. I wish you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas. You are truly blessed.

I'm hugely amused, I don't seem able to go to sleep without my La Lande fix!!! That duck dish looked and sounded glorious so I need to find some confit during canard.... Doubt I will live long enough to make my own 😄😄

What a lovely video! My husband was stationed in France for 5 years before I met him and after we were married, he asked me if I would make Coquille st-jacques for his birthday dinner...I did and served it every year to him. Amaury certainly looks like his Dad, sounds like him too! What a lovely Aunt, Uncle and cousin you have Steph....lovely family and that includes Phillip as well.

I think I've died and gone to heaven, this was the best vlog ever. Cooking french with loved ones is the best possible thing in the world. It's perfection, and you've proved it Stephanie without a doubt. No wonder all the women that watch your vlogs are in love with Amaury, because. of course. his parents are so lovable, kind, intelligent and fun loving. Girls of the world, hop on a plane, fly to LaLande, and get to work. I thought I made the best "Coquille St. Jacques" in the world, (I've kept the same shells and used them, for forty years) but I realize after watching this presentation of Stephanie's, I hate to admit it, I must up my game. Your fabulous Aunt's recipe I've never heard of (a much better version of English Cottage Pie) I must learn to make. Very yummy. You all got me so enthused, I quickly made myself an exotic drink, "Gin and Tonic", and started on my dinner? Love, Happiness and Merry Christmas to you all. Marianne, Chicago. I'm going to re-watch this vlog again and again.

You are so blessed to have such a rich family history. I am sure that Phillip is loving getting to know more family. What a blessed Merry Christmas you will have! The curious puppy sniffing at all the yummy things at the table was precious. What a magnificent dinner table was decorated and prepared.
