Step 1:
Dice an entire onion. Finely chop a couple of teeth of garlic.
Step 2:
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Once hot, toss in the chopped onion and sauté until soft.
Step 3:
Add a jar of store-bought ‘sofrito’ into the pan or make your own sofrito at home using our recipe 👉 • Cooking Cuban - Sofrit... 👈
Step 4:
Mix to combine the ingredients and sauté for a couple of minutes.
Step 5:
Add cooking wine to the pan and sauté.
Step 6:
Add minced garlic to the pan.
Mix everything together and sauté until the sauce thickens a bit.
Step 7:
Add your shrimp to the sofrito and toss to coat them evenly.
They will only cook for a few minutes to avoid overcooking.
Step 8:
If needed, add more cooking wine or some tomato puree to the pan. You’ll only need to add these things if you see the sauce is drying out. You want this dish to be saucy.
Step 9:
Cover the pot with a lid and allow the shrimp to cook for a few minutes.
Step 10:
Serve over rice and enjoy!
